  1. He is above average depth for us and I would love to keep him for this reason, but it’s extremely unfair to hold back someone who is clearly good enough to be in a starting 22 of a club not blessed with a hundred quality inside mids, for the purpose of covering injuries. If he wants more game time, I understand why he’d leave and I hope we trade him to a club who really needs his type and get something good in return. He clearly can play and is a pretty good inside mid. He’s just not good enough to get a starting position in our midfield. It’s a difficult position.
  2. If he’s willing to move and we don’t move heaven and earth and Hogan to try and get him, I would be gutted. Why the [censored] does anyone want to go to Carlton?! Yuck!
  3. IF Hogan doesn’t leave but refuses to sign an extension of his contract at the same time, I would be extremely disappointed. One has to coincide with the other. Commit or go. It can’t be both.
  4. Does this make Hunt dispensable? I love Hunt but for the right price would you trade? I hear Carlton are keen.
  5. Yep he’s never felt settled here. I think a part of me always knew he’d leave prematurely
  6. What part of “suspects” do you not understand?
  7. They’re Freo fans. They literally wouldn’t know success, a nice jumper or a good coach if it hit them in the face.
  8. Whether we get him or not, priority 1, 2 and 3 for me is getting Max a decent backup. We are so vulnerable if he gets injured and we are increasing the likelihood of this happening by playing him alone all season long. Unworkable long term, which is why we are going after Preuss.
  9. He looked a broken man yesterday. I totally disagree with what he did, but gees hasn’t he paid the ultimate price now! A part of me suspects he will never be the same again. If North want to throw their dumb chest at him, then so be it.
  10. We won’t win a flag with our current defense. It is the absolute weakest part of our team and probably the most crucial in finals. We need to get some strong experience in there, and that’s hard to come by. If we can get May, we should. It takes years to develop key backman and May could slot straight into our backline.
  11. He was and will continue to be a very very good player. But one player does not make a club. One player does not win a premiership. We will move on and so will he.
  12. Agreed. We did everything right by Hogan yet I feel that he has never truly been a Melbourne man. If he is not with us, then he’s against us. While I always loved him as a player, I’ve never felt a strong bond to him like I do other players. He simply hasn’t connected well. He just doesn’t seem invested in the club. Time to let go and get on with the business of winning a flag.
  13. Seriously I am so sick of this “he is going he is staying” every single year since he’s been at Melbourne. Doesn’t feel like he has ever really committed to the club. If he wants to go home, we will be ok and I wish him all the very best. Lets get maximum value for him and move on from this conjecture every season.
  14. For anyone who hasn’t posted here long, this is the only poster on Demonland with a 100% strike rate and credibility. Take everything else with a big grain of salt. Keep us posted Chook.
  15. Just had a baby. Probably wants a longer term contract than we are willing to offer. More likely to get to the midfield with the Saints, which apparently is something he wants. Good luck to him. I think he can be a handy player for them and I hope his body holds up.
  16. Plus he has a nasty foot injury. We know how those go.
  17. There are only 3 players, who if they left our club, I would be heartbroken and cry over. They are Oliver, Gawn and Gus (Viney and Jetta not included as I just assume they would never leave). Hogan is a very good player. Of that I have no doubt. If he stays we are still able to improve our list and we maintain a very good player. But if he leaves, I hope we maximize his value to improve our list.
  18. Well done Cam. Got everything out of himself and literally plugged every hole this team ever had. All the best!
  19. Can’t stop players from wanting to leave. Is he an absolute fool for leaving a club who has done so much for him and is a major flag contender in the new few years to go to a garbage club with no game plan and a terrible coach? Yes. Should we milk him for all he’s worth and extract maximum value out of Freo’s pathetic and never ending desperation to land him? 100% I am all about improving our club. I want him to stay but he if wants to go, let’s make our club better as a result. I back the club to get it done.
  20. Already this is my new favourite thread No greater combination than trade week and obscure Demonland poster rumors!
  21. Just seems like a total waste of energy to discuss something that isn't going to happen. Please yourself I suppose.
  22. It makes sense. Even if we play 2 rucks in half the games, or give Gawn 2-3 games off each H&A season, it has to be a better option than flogging a half dead horse to the finish line. Gawn was spent on Saturday. He has rucked solidly for 26 weeks. It is far far too big an ask. Not to mention that he has only managed 2 injury-free seasons in his entire career. What a risk if he goes down.
  23. 3 things: 1. You don't trade key position talent - who was the last club to voluntarily trade a proven key forward? 2. No decent forward wants to go to Freo. Their game plan sucks. Not even Buddy would kick goals for them. 3. Unless somebody has solid evidence that Hogan is not happy or wants to head back to WA, can we please stop discussing trading him, as this will not happen.
  24. Not alone. But is also not the future. 2019 is his last year.
