  1. Knowing a little bit about Gardner, I really can't see him being the cause of any fight. He'll go when he feels he needs to go, and he won't let his ego get in the way of the success of our club.
  2. We'll win if we can keep Fevola to 4 goals or less.
  3. We need people on the board who have a business background. While Jimmy is a passionate Dees man and while he does fantastic work in his field, I think he may lack the business know-how that I believe our next president should have. We are in a huge spot of bother off the field (and on ), so we need as many experienced heads on the board as we could possibly get.
  4. And it's because our supporters are generally weak, fickle and conditional, that we are struggling badly and will continue to struggle. We have got to find a new supporter base to tap into (maybe the Casey Fields move will help) or we will die. If we have to rely on our current supporter group to buy memberships and turn up, it will never happen. If those extra 10,000 supporters signed up, we would have well over 30,000 members, which is a reasonable enough figure.
  5. If the focus is on quick ball-movement, than a great handball to kick ratio is likely, especially if your running midfielders/ rebounding defenders lack pace.
  6. Absolute shite for Petterd. Poor kid goes from a life-threatening lung injury to the dreaded 4-6 weeks 'groin' injury. :( But hey, Holland is listed as a 'test'... yippee
  7. Brock McLean is in the top 10 in the league for contested possessions... he has clearly broken many team rules there Amazing how many people have got stuck into McLean and Bell. McLean is first in contested possessions, second in tackles and second in clearances (despite getting a hard-tag each and every week). Bell is second in 1%'s and equal fourth in tackles. When you are going as badly as we are, it's the players who do the hard things and the team things that get you through from week to week.
  8. You are preaching to the converted. I doubt you'll find a more pathetically biased Brock fan on this site I just can't see him going from being on the outer with the leadership group, to stepping in as captain tomorrow (if that is even the case!). It would be a brave choice and one that I would applaud, because it is a long-term solution to a really big problem. Also agree that Rivers deserves a leadership role in some capacity.
  9. So 'in play' is now basically the same thing as 'happened on the field, not in change rooms'?
  10. Ben Johnson got 6 weeks for his hit on Bell last year, which was a deserved punishment for a very dangerous hit. What Hall did, to me, is far more serious and was not even in play, yet he gets 7. Bemusing to say the least.
  11. My thoughts exactly. For one I hope Neita plays out the rest of the year and retires with the dignity and respect he deserves. Secondly, if he does indeed hand over the captaincy (that'll teach the club not to give players the power to choose a leadership group ), there is not a single player who deserves to take the role, so what will that achieve? Junior? Too old Miller? Is apperantly like totally the worst player like ever Bruce? Argh! Robbo? Double Argh! Yze? Is he still alive? Brock? Doing donuts with a suspended license Jones? 19 year old, can't hit a target by hand/foot Green? Not considered a leader by his peers Rivers? Shattered groin Everyone else? Terrible/inexperienced/just plain wrong
  12. Unfortunately, the way Sylvia's career has panned out so far, near enough is just about good enough.
  13. Errr your topic wasn't deleted, as I can't see anything in the trash can. What was your topic about? Maybe one of the mods merged it with another thread of a similar nature??
  14. I don't remember Sylvia ever winning us a game of football, let alone a final. Also don't remember him ever finishing in the top 5 in our B&F. If you stop touching yourself for a minute, you'll see that McLean > Sylvia.
  15. I think Davey kicked the goal after Jamar took the mark and got hit by the North Melbourne player. I'm sure advantage was payed and Davey went on to kick that goal.
  16. His head appears to be in the clouds. He has talent, no doubt, but we know too many players who missed their chance at a career because their heads were not in the right place. Bailey will either sort him out, or ship him out. Maybe if we get rid of him now, we can get a good pick for him, that is if Bailey really sees no hope for ever changing his attitude.
  17. If ever you wanted a soft introduction to AFL football, playing on Carlton's defenders is the way to go. However, just because he kicked 5 goals does not mean he is ready to step up into the big league. Given how young he is, given his body shape, given that he spends 5 days a week at school, it seems unlikely that he'll play this year, let alone next week. If he does get a game, great, but don't bet your house on it.
  18. You can't believe idiotic reactions on Demonland? How long you been around?
  19. Amen. They don't like him because they miss being mothered and protected by a coach. Well no more. This crap of allowing players to do as they please without any regard for the team has gone on long enough. If they don't want to adapt, they can leave. I'm sure there are hundreds of kids out there dying to play AFL who will happily adapt to Bailey's vision. I doubt Cale Morton has an issue with a coach who punishes players who are selfish on the field. It's the selfish players who have a problem with it.
  20. Let me know when Sylvia wins us a final. Better still, let me know when Sylvia wins us a match.
  21. - Beat Collingwood on Queens Birthday - Beat St.Kilda - Get a priority pick (and ensure Carlton don't get any) - Bailey to remain strong in his vision for our club and continue to be relentless in achieving said vision - For McLean to prove himself worthy of the captaincy in 2009 - For our supporters to harden up.
  22. Excellent news after all! Mind you, if he didn't dominate in Sandy reserve I'd be very very worried. Newton is really starting to [censored] me.
  23. Never seen a team take a group of players to watch the opposition play. Very interesting. Should have taken Rivers, he has to stop Fevola from kicking another bag next week. Carlton are 4 wins away from giving us a priority pick... bring it!
  24. Bate didn't play I take it? 6 weeks with a hammy... something is not right. The 'hamstring' they speak of better not be in his groin!
  25. Yet our players can't. That they won't sustain a consistent effort over 4 quarters is not the fault of the game plan, or the rotations or how much hair Bailey has lost since taking the senior job. It is the fault of our players who give up too easily, don't go hard enough when it is their turn and don't want to be accountable for their opponent. We've been doing the same thing for years. It's why we fade towards the end of quarters/matches/seasons. Bailey wants to change all of that by any means possible and if that means we have to suffer big defeats along the way, than so be it.
