Football is very uncertain. Heaven forbid he suffers a career-ending injury next week and never plays again, or perhaps he has post-footy aspirations and is looking to study part time while playing. I admire players who can look beyond their footy, because those careers don't last long even at the best of times.

Says who? We're 16th and he can hit a target, there is definitely a spot for him in the side especially since Aussie is struggling.

Yeah, good to hear he is concentrating on school. He's had a taste of senior footy and did brilliantly, but to be perfectly honest a good VCE score will help him more in life than playing a losing game in Adelaide. Smart kid and great to see the club accommodating him. It will be much the same if we get Watts in the draft, he probably won't play any senior footy at all. By the way, Greeny made it pretty damn obvious on the Footy Show tonight that these are farewell matches for both Yze and Whitey.

Frawley I thought was quite good the last two weeks, finally getting some confidence and taking the game on. Strange. I'm pretty sure Maric has VCE or school-football commitments, because it seems grossly unfair to drop him. Yze and White getting their farewell games. Port by 10 goals, and thank god for that.

If Harvey looked like Jennifer Hawkins and wore a bikini while making milkshakes then maybe he could lure Cale home, but unfortunately for him Harvey's milkshakes don't bring all the boys to his yard You would think we are the first club to talk to out of contract players before the end of the year!

Absolutely I include Green in that 80% Yes he's a good player, and yes he's a good leader, but he won't be around for a premiership and he is not so valuable that if we lost him and gained a top player for the future we'd struggle. For goodness sake, he is not an A grade footballer, he is a loose defender who sometimes plays forward, hardly irreplaceable. And for all of his leadership attributes, Green was not put in the leadership group at the start of the year, so we'd manage without him. Experience is great, but young talent is better when you're on the bottom of the ladder. And yes I want him to stay, but if we get offered pick 25 or lower I would take that without hesitation.

Because Bruce aside, he has the greatest market value. By the way I would trade Bruce well ahead of Green, as IMO we would get more for Bruce and the loss to our team would be less.

Are you serious? I would trade 80% of our list for a top-5 pick. In what is going to be the last draft for a while where we can get early picks, I would sign that deal in a second. Unfortunately, nobody will give us a top-5 pick... not even for Davey or McLean, not a chance. It would be irresponsible of us to get to a situation where Green can walk for nothing, but I doubt it would get to that point. However, I do NOT want the club to make the same mistake it has made in the past, letting players dictate the terms and end up with long-term contracts for players who are virtually useless. So while Green is a very good player and leader, and has 3 or 4 good seasons in him yet, if he isn't happy with what we are willing to give him, we'll find a suitable trade and off he goes. We have to think long-term aswell. With salary cap reductions and a list that's likely to mature together, we have to make room for future contract negotiations or we leave ourselves open to losing seriously good players.

Maric is just so smart, and his ball use is first rate. Not sure why the negative comments. As for Martin, he is simply phenomenal. To come from his background, having had so little time to adapt to AFL and be thrown into a bottom-team's defence is bloody hard. He has handled it like a champ... cool, calm and collected. Warnock down back was also terrific by the way.

In hindsight it's a good thing we got rid of him before he lost the plot. Who did we get with that pick btw? Watching Scotty Thompson still breaks my heart... the superstar we almost had.

Why can't we let Jamar ruck the whole game on his own? White did it for 10 seasons, and we're hardly playing for finals here. As far as I'm concerned, no other available ruckman on our list deserves a game. Bring in Petterd to replace PJ and we'd be miles better off than having a disinterested White or a seriously poor Meesen. If worse comes to worse and Jamar goes down, Martin can have a short stint in the ruck.

No love for Warnock? Thought he did a superb job on Lynch.

Didn't Bode get elevated off the rookie list at the end of last year, giving him an automatic 2 year contract, meaning he still has a year left? Not that we can't pay him out (doubt he'd be making much) and send him on his way... can we give Meesen some hot dogs and do the same?

I want Brisbane to win, too bad that won't happen, but as long as Hawthorn don't win it I'm not fussed. I'll be living in Geelong over the last two weeks of September for work, which I'm definitely not looking forward to (mainly because I have to spend time there ).

Just as long as when Jamar comes in to replace PJ he isn't given 2nd ruck duties. He is our first ruckman at the moment, and that shouldn't change if White is there instead of PJ.

As usual, grand-standing with little substance. By the way, if you really can't stand people criticising Bruce, utilize the 'ignore' function or stop reading this forum because I can tell you that for as long as this forum exists, players will get criticised.

I have never once personally attacked Bruce, or anyone else who plays for this club. When talking about players post-match I only mention those who I believe need to be mentioned. As our CAPTAIN Bruce has as much, if not more of the spotlight on him each week and as one of the few remaining senior players it is up to him to show the way. Sadly, he has been disappointing on the whole. You can deny that all you want, you can call me a Bruce basher, an abuser of players, it still won't change anything. Perhaps it is time to get off the high horse and let people express their opinions so long as they are not personal or offensive, because you 'post stalking' anyone who has an opinion about Bruce is really becoming old.
