Training Photographs - Monday 14th December, 2015
La Dee-vina Comedia replied to Six6Six's topic in Melbourne Demons
Great photos. What stood out to me (even on still photos) was the level of movement. I don't recall seeing photos of training showing so much physical intensity before. -
Nut, you realise that after criticising him for lying you've gone on to suggest he should have lied. To deliberately misquote, apparently some lies are more equal than others.

THE SAGA CONTINUES - WADA APPEALS

It's also possible that (a) Dank was the only one that knew what was in the syringes because he didn't want anyone to know how his 'magic' worked or (b) no-one knew what was in the syringes because no-one actually tested what was in it but just believed what they were told by the supplier. -
I'm not sure what point you're making here. Woey didn't want to leave. We offloaded him instead. Which only emphasises the point that until free agency came along loyalty was a one way street - players were expected to show it while clubs did not. Now free agency has tipped the scales back, although some would say it has tipped them too far. Personally, I think the balance is about right. Players should have some ability to ply their trade where they want within the confines of a salary cap.

THE SAGA CONTINUES - WADA APPEALS
La Dee-vina Comedia replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Little said some time back that he would stand down as Chairman once the WADA matter was dealt with. Given the CAS hearing is concluded, there's nothing further he can do, so I think standing down now is consistent with his statement. While I think Little's tenure has not been good for Essendon, contrary to what appear to be the views of some others on here, I see his departure as necessary if Essendon is ever going to recover from this problem. One which is entirely of its own making. And, again contrary to what others here seem to be saying, I want Essendon to recover. It's good for the AFL to have a strong core of traditional clubs. -

Apart from the visual confusion of a wheelbarrow being driven by a tram driver, I still don't understand you. Surely the only way for the EFC to rebuild "on more honourable and acceptable principles" is to use new "tram drivers". How else can they do it? -

bb, I don't understand you. Given all your strident criticism of Essendon over this issue, why do you say "the farce continues" if the President you distrust is leaving and that the former Chief Commissioner of Police (Ken Lay) is joining the Board? How are both those Board moves part of "the farce"? Surely they are both positive steps. -

Are you sure you didn't stumble onto the club's Christmas Party instead of footy training? Actually, a nice, pithy summary. Much appreciated. -

Ok, thanks. I apologise for posting something inappropriate. I didn't realise that it could have been interpreted that way. -

Andy, I posted a comment in the Web Designer sense of humour thread (or whatever it's called) which has now disappeared. If it was deleted because a Moderator thought it was inappropriate, then fine (I don't agree, but I'm not complaining. That's not the reason for this post). But if it's just "disappeared" for no reason, then I should bring it to your attention here as it might suggest some other glitch. -
Just to clarify some misconceptions. SEN is wholly owned by Pacific Star Network which is listed on the Australian Stock Exchange (listed as PNW). PNW also owns a second radio licence which is the "old" 3MP and now trades as 1377 MyMP. PNW also has a publishing arm which most notably publishes Inside Football (print and digital versions). Ron Hall is the largest shareholder and a Director. Gary Pert (yes, the ex-player and Collingwood CEO) is also a Director. Here's the PNW website where you can find out more.

You should teach daisycutter how to do it. -
While I'm not really surprised around 14,000 people have voted on a website, I'm absolutely gobsmacked that 619 people voted "Not sure". Why on earth would you bother to participate if you're not sure?

The recent Majak Daw court case is an excellent example of why Richmond and the AFL waiting for the legal process to conclude is not necessarily the wrong option. If he's found "not guilty" then the penalty should fit the crime for being boorish but not for making criminal threats; if he's found guilty, then a tougher penalty should be imposed. Of course, unless Martin is claiming he didn't do anything wrong (and only if there's sufficient evidence to support that claim), Richmond could take an initial position of taking action against him for the poor behaviour and reserve the right for additional action should there be a legal finding against him.

Was that penalty imposed by the club or by the AFL?

You could also use the example of Geelong and Steve Johnson, too.

So, who was pick 4 in that draft? Did we at least interview him?

Demonland has been down a bit over the last few days. Is it possible that it happened to be down when you were using the PCs but up and running when you tried the iPad? -
THE SAGA CONTINUES - WADA APPEALS
La Dee-vina Comedia replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Yet even with those powers, they seem to have more problems. Live baiting, cobalt, etc. Just imagine if horses could talk. One of the problems in this matter, is that it is impossible to make someone like Dank talk. He can be sanctioned for not talking...but if he chooses not to talk he has that right. And for as long as Dank doesn't talk, I doubt we'll ever know the truth. (And even if talks I have no confidence that he'll actually tell the truth anyway). -

Your logic is sound so one has to assume that those who traded him in see Melksham as low risk. Whether they are right or wrong remains to be seen. I'd like to think, though, that the decision to trade in Melksham was subjected to some rigorous risk assessment (or justification, if you like) by others independent of the recruiting team. Too often sporting clubs allow their passion to overwhelm logic. Whether the decision turns out to be inspired or lunacy, what matters most to me is that we went through a proper process. Even with a proper process, mistakes can be made. But they will be fewer in number and usually less damaging.
