  1. These announcements would suggest you're both right. Here's the RSN announcement and here's the one from 3AW (it's toward the bottom).
  2. I wonder if Collingwood supporters feel the same way? Who have they got from us? Shane Woewodin, Simon Buckley, Jeremy Howe and now Lynden Dunn. Who else?
  3. If the value of the Bentleigh Club is in its pokies business (and it might not be - the land might be more valuable), the club will be waiting on a State Government decision as to the future of those pokies. The club (along with all other pokies venues) owns the rights to those pokies only up until 2022. Until the Government decides what to do post-2022, those pokies may have a very limited value and therefore the Bentleigh Club's value may be temporarily depressed.
  4. I'm still none the wiser on the details. Did he blow above zero but below 0.05%, which is an offence for a P-plater but is not driving drunk? Or was he over 0.05%? While the law is clear for a P-Plater, I think the penalty imposed by the club should reflect the specific situation. So, if he was driving with a blood alcohol level above zero but below 0.05%, the penalty seems about right. If he was over 0.05%, then I suspect the penalty should have been tougher.
  5. Did we choose them or were they allocated to us? The difference being that if we chose them I assume we have some specific interest in them.
  6. I realise from the number of "likes" you have a lot of support. But there's a lot of supposition in your post.
  7. I think you'll find it relates primarily to concerns about giving away sensitive information, such as player injuries. It will also be linked to integrity concerns. Remember when Nick Maxwell told a family member that he would be playing in the forward line? That family member, or perhaps a friend of that family member, then placed a bet on Maxwell to be the first goal scorer of the match. While there's a big difference between specific information being disclosed and a general comment on how a player is finding the jump between grades, it is much easier for the club to issue a single instruction not to share any information rather than explaining to players what's allowed to be discussed and what isn't.
  8. Actually, I think his biggest weakness is his lack of a "right foot". I'm pleased to see from recent training reports that there seems to be an effort to improve kicking for all players on their "wrong" side.
  9. Help me out here, Stretch. I've already wasted too much time trying to work out who's who. These words are said by Marc Anthony about Brutus, one of Julius Caesar's assassins. Are you saying Hutchy is Brutus...because that would make James Brayshaw Julius Caesar. And it would also make Hutchy noble. That doesn't seem right.
  10. His schtick comes straight from 1984. Not the book - the year.
  11. New Category B Japanese rookie. Although I might be wrong.
  12. Yes. Father-son stories in the off-season.
  13. I think the psychological effect of jumper numbers could be more problematic than we might think. It's quite clear that our earlier picks (eg, Hogan, Watts, Salem) and "glamour trades" such as Jordan Lewis get numbers closer to zero. So what impact does it have on a player like McKenna who is given #40? It's almost like the club saying to the player, "Look, we're not convinced you'll make it, but why don't we just give it a shot and see what happens". I'd much rather a random distribution of jumper numbers.
  14. This tweet of training today pretty much sums up the changes between last season and now... 0 replies0 retweets0 likes Reply Retweet Like More Melbourne FC ‏@melbournefc 4m4 minutes ago The coach reporting for duty @Starlight_star #myheartbeatstrue 0 replies0 retweets0 likes Reply Retweet Like More

  16. If Stephen Silvagni was SOS, I assume Josh Daicos will be SOFYROMM (Son of Former Yugoslavian Republic of Macedonian Marvel*) *With thanks to 3AW's Ross Stevenson who gave Peter Daicos the "corrected" nickname.
  17. Perhaps we need to stop using the word "rehab" group and call it the "some might be recovering from injury and others are on individual programs group" or, more simply, "the other group".
  18. Do you mean (or did they mean) up, out or developmental?
  19. For technical reasons I couldn't add my own text to the above quote. What I wanted to say is that if the election of Donald Trump has taught us anything, we shouldn't just believe something to be true because it is said often enough. (There was a similar experience in Europe in the early 1930s, too). Is there actual, confirmed, real, factual evidence which supports the AFL's claim regarding (1) viewer confusion and (2) player difficulties?
  20. There's a risk, though, that the longer a kid has to wait to be drafted the more likely he might be tempted by another code, such as soccer or basketball.
  21. Apparently Grimes chose not to nominate for the national or rookie drafts. http://www.afl.com.au/news/2016-11-29/former-demon-jack-grimes-accepts-his-career-is-over
  22. I guess this is where we draw the line which closes off the Roos era. Who remains that was brought to the club before the Roos era began? In no particular order: Jones, Garland, Watts, Gawn, Hogan, Viney, Spencer, Jetta, Kent, T McDonald, Pedersen, Trengove. I think those 12 players are the only ones (corrections are welcome). If nothing else, each of the above should be congratulated. Each has offered enough to convince the footy department that they should be kept.
