The best umpires get a high profile, the best games and the best sponsor ship. the cream will rise to the top. how can you have professional players being dictated to by part time actors. Full time umpires. It’s the only way forward. They become accountable and if paid enough, you will get more people willing to do that job. In all grades, and I have umpired but at a very low level. I used to call the game in my head and go with the first thought.
