Happy for Weid to get another crack at it... feels like its just a matter of time before it all clicks for him.
-
While I doubt it's us, he would add potency in an area where we can appear to need new options... i.e. tall forward. And on his day is a genuine gun.

I think out ins and outs are all system based, as in Viney back = Dunstan out Harmes out = Melksham stays in. if Harmes was recovered and back it would have been Melky out.

Fair enough, I actually think Tasmania has huge potential to grow its population, economy and brand (tourism, research, migration), if they could align on a more progressive vision (and message) to drive it. And an AFL team would assist them to do this.

Love Tassie, and they deserve a team. Some economic size figures: Tasmania GDP - $34 Billion NT GDP - $ 25 Billion Victoria GDP - $ 474 Billion Queensland GDP - $ 366 Billion

That ranking of rucks goes a fair way to explaining why Cats wont win flag this year.

I had an election party to go to, so missed the game. Might go against the external stereotype but lots of Dees are left leaning progressives who had a celebration in mind, rather than win at drablands… Might help explain the low attendance…

Melky May be our Stuart Dew aka 2008, on his day can win finals for us. Worth having in the conversation. Go Dees

Have called Spargo “Smilie” since his arrival, he’s a ripper.

Add Dusty and Clarko to GWS and they might win a Prelim...

Nice that we could update it with... "2021 PREMIERS - MELBOURNE 2022 PREMIERS - TBD"
-
I'll feel the same way... in another 33 years.

Agree re Weid he needs to cultivate an intensity and attitude that it’s his forward line, could have lined up a North defender with a fierce tackle in the 3 and just wandered in… Hard to teach a nice man to be a mongrel.
-
6 to Weid and JVR will encourage our forwards to put the sword to the Weagles, and bodes well…

Team Selection - is it ever based on matchups
PaulRB replied to deelusions from afar's topic in Melbourne Demons
I think you're being too reactive or short term. The team selection would be based on form and providing versatility and options over the coming month of games, with a mind to further build connection between the 22, and refining the 22's ability to cope with any scenario... -
I'm not sure why people keep assuming Gus has a desire to play inside mid. He has had a series of concussions (as an inside mid), is a smart guy who'd understand the ramification of further concussions, and plays in a soft helmet to prevent concussions... why would he be in a hurry to return to the position where another concussion is more likely than where he currently plays..?

The fixture should be equalised over 3 seasons, so over that period every teams plays every other team the same amount of times. And the result accurately reflects the competition. The current fixturing undermines the integrity and simplicity of the competition.

Might be time for the team to review the 2018 Preliminary Final... ... it's time for the old payback.

I reckon, Angus nailing that goal on the run on Sunday, was his way of re-applying for the wingers club. All the skills he's showing down back, also serve us well when displayed on the wing... as his GF performance demonstrated.

Premiership Coach Simon Goodwin extends until 2024
PaulRB replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Its interesting, many supporters of other clubs are actually enjoying the way Melbourne are playing and going about it, more than hating it. Even my one-eyed Bomber supporting brothers are begrudgingly admiring and tuning in especially to watch our boys play, simply because we are so good to watch when we turn it on. Coach re-appointment, Narrn, Women's footy are all further validation that as a club we are on off-field as well as on-field.- 89 replies

I think new coaches getting baked under the unreasonable expectations of long deprived club and supporters (via the media) highlights the wisdom of our path getting Roos in to settle the ship and start the rebuild before handing across to Goodwin as performances were improving. Not to do so exposes young coaches to too much pressure. Mind you, not unhappy to see the Dons in the firing line.

We are arguably 7 players off our best 22, and while those that came in are good, they not equal or like for like for Salem, Petty, Jackson, Kozzie, Nibbler, Sparrow and Hibbard. A lot of the Hawks ability to move the ball around and, at time open us up, would not have occurred with these 6+ back in and on. That we still won without those players out has me thinking how well we would have won by if they'd played...

OUT: Jackson, Kozzie, Sparrow, Goodwin. IN: Viney, Lever, Bedford, Yze Minimal changes, Viney and Bedford for Kozzie and Sparrow, and while Jackson for Lever is not like for like, we should be able to shuffle to make it work... i.e. Smithy forward ;) ?

Football world: No one is close to challenging Melbourne this season!! CoVID: Hold my beer...
