After the ‘downer’ against Freo, there have been a few very early signs of the re-emergence of MFCSS amongst some Demonland colleagues.  It’s a horrible ailment, and extremely contagious, but fortunately, a win against the Swans will put that to rest. Dees in a hard-fought 19 point win, to curtail an epidemic for at least another week.

Well I am one of the exemptions. My MFCSS is flying through the milky way after last week. The swans can be a difficult opponent.

I have to go through gate 5 so that means I can't get in until after half time or can you still attend going through gate 3 if they will let you.

Funnily enough I never had a bad experience at Victoria Park, apart from the usual intimidation, and found Windy Hill the most sinister.

But footy supporters are funny creatures. I remember wandering out to the Western Oval one day when the Swans were kicking Fitzroy behind. This was when both teams were terrible. I had imagined (ha! ha! poor fool) some kind of solidarity between two downtrodden supporter groups. Nuh! The Swans were giving it to the Roys like it was at Vic Park with Collingwood 20 goals up on Carlton. God almighty, the air trembled with suppressed violence. And all for a match that meant jack all.

It is funny that as I found windy hill to be okay but the sort of place you got away from in a hurry after the game. Twice when I was a late teen I had filth supporters who had reserved seats in the stand behind where their cheer squad was and I had the delightful experience of attending the filth supporters stand. One of the games was against south melbourne where I saw the south coach being spat on at half time by these vile animals. Could not believe it and is still clear in my mind.

It's character building. Or was. So much hostility funnelled from so many toward so few. Some days you were fearful to even clap a goal scored by your own team.

This is true but some away grounds were worse than others. There is no doubt that Victoria Park was the worst of them and by a country mile.

  5. Well just wait and watch. The AFL will screw up my happiness for this week by letting Franklin off the hook. He went to hit him in the head twice and the second one connected. And they say in the AFL the head is sacrosanct but it will be alright for buddy to do a Will Smith on Cotchin.

  6. I don't think we will see Petty until after the bye. Hope I am wrong. Harmes won't be ready this week either. Hopefully Langdon and TMAC will be plus also Tomlinson. The who goes out is simple. Melk, Weed, Dunstan, BBB and unfortunately May and Petty. Obviously some of them will remain in side. I would consider Chandler as well.

  7. Well it had to happen and there is some good news out of it. There are players who are not good enough. Not many but they exist. Let it be a lesson and remember sometimes it takes more than 1 loss for that kick up the pants to work. Be wary of Sydney next week.

  8. Franklin punch will be interesting. If it was say a Melbourne CHF like TMAC or the weed then they would get 3 weeks minimum but because it is Buddy nothing may happen. If we lose to freo he may get a week but if we beat freo he will play for sure. That is how disgusting the AFL can be.
