  1. Best result is the teams pushing for 4th place losing, namely Essendon, Bulldogs + Saints.

Agree with other posters who suggested finishing fourth and playing the filth in the first week of the finals is preferable to finishing 2nd or 3rd and playing an away final v Brisbane or Port.

The happy, Choco getting AFL Hall of Fame recognition. Congratulations and well deserved.

The sad, the passing of Matt Rendell, a nice guy that I met a few times, a very good footballer, coach and recruiter. Sincere condolences to family and friends. RIP Bundy.

Alan Scott will be delighted !!

Kicking in-danger is just about a nom-existant rule now. Seen two that should have gone against Collingwood in the last quarter and a bit.

It certainly doesn't override the 'don't give a free kick against Pendlebery' presumption. While on the subject of Pendlebery, that free kick he got for 'in the back' was ridiculous ... he just threw himself to the ground.

He's very good, but has a player had more smoke blown up their [censored] in the first two seasons than Nick Daicos? Classic Vic media.

    Who?

FWIW I think we're better off with the filth winning today*. We've got no hope of finishing top 2, so it's better if the teams behind us lose to give us the best chance to finish top 4.

    *Shocking admission I know.

  5. I don't that top 2 is a realistic hope for the Dees. Lions are certain to finish top 4 by reason of their likely home wins.

Accordingly, I prefer that teams pushing for 4th place on the ladder lose ... read St Kilda!!

I literally bumped into Bert Newton ( many moons ago) at an atm in Church St Brighton. Tbh it was hard not to stare at the size of his Noggin.

Apparently it had its own postcode ....

  7. It makes it hard for the young Norf players when the senior players lack composure/leadership at vital moments. Late Q3 Norf had momentum. McKay kicked inboard ... went straight to Caleb Daniel (smallest player on the ground) ... turnover ... goal. Then Dogs got another goal. Momentum/game lost ...

I also feel sorry for Larkey and Zurha. They try so hard. And kicks to Larkey are usually on his head, which means he cops way too much physically.

Below ... Hugh Greenwood lookalike ... Matthew Newton.

I have a soft spot for Hugh. He lost his mum to breast cancer six years ago, he was only 25. He took it really hard and to this day still points to the sky after kicking a goal. 😔

Interestingly, his grandfather played for Melbourne and played in the 1955 - 1957 grand finals.

Sorry to hear that. He may well be a ripper bloke, but he's cooked as a footballer (IMHO).

FWIW he looks very much like Matthew Newton.
