  1. Yes he is. "To be eligible to be nominated for the award, a player must be younger than 21 years of age on 1 January of the award year and have played 10 or fewer senior games before the beginning of the season"
  2. So far I've struggled to find a publisher to pick it up, funnily enough.
  3. Choose your own adventure. You are Jack Grimes and you have the footy at half back, with a paddock in front of you. If you want to kick the ball as soon as you get it, go to Result 1. If you want to play on, go to Result 2. Result 1: You try to spot up a target on the boundary line, but you miss it and the ball goes out of bounds on the full. Result 2: You run yourself into trouble. If you wish to take on tacklers, go to Result 3. If you wish to get rid of the ball, go to Result 4. Result 3: You are tackled and pinged for holding the ball. The opposition move it quickly up the field and hit the scoreboard. Result 4: You handball it to a teammate that is covered. They get tackled, pinged for holding the ball, and the opposition rebounds it quickly and hits the scoreboard. If he's going to contribute on-field to our rise up the ladder, Grimes seriously needs to improve his decision making. He constantly turns it over, chooses the wrong option, and puts teammates under the pump. I think he's more than capable of becoming a great player, as we've all seen it in patches, but at the moment he's got a lot of work to do to get there.
  4. I agree that ESPN doesn't have a strong focus on hockey. They're much more interested in the MLB, NFL and NBA. I think that the quality/quantity of NHL coverage in the US depends a lot on where you are. I know that it's massive in places like Detroit, Boston, Minnesota, Chicago and New York, but many of the teams in the warmer climates of California, Florida, Texas, Arizona, etc are often overlooked by ESPN (at least that's how it seems to me). I think it also has a lot to do with how successful/popular the other major teams in any given state are. For e.g. hockey takes the backseat in Florida to the Miami Dolphins, TB Buccaneers (NFL), Miami Heat (NBA) and the Tampa Bay Rays (MLB). California is saturated with teams in every sport, and it seems to me that hockey isn't a priority for their sportscasters. I could be wrong on this, but it seems as though Californians prefer the Lakers, Clippers, Dodgers, Athletics, Angels, Raiders, etc to the Ducks, Sharks and Kings. I think that NBC is the major network for NHL in the states... could be worth looking into getting that channel if you're interested in some better coverage and it's available. Otherwise, YouTube is great as it has all the highlights up very quickly after the games and you can always find some pretty good analysis.
  5. The streak's over, so I can talk about it now without having to worry about cursing it. Jays won 9 in a row and are sitting pretty atop the AL East. Encarnacion is on fire; 16 HRs in May...tied with Mickey Mantle for the all-time record.
  6. Rangers are through to the final. Tokarski was fantastic for Montreal and gave them every chance of forcing Game 7. They really couldn't have asked for anything more from him. Lundqvist looks determined. Finals start Wednesday (North American time) in either Chicago or LA.
  7. Not sure of the specifics of Spencer's injury, but I've had ankle issues in the past, and it's very easy to re-injure or aggravate them. You can feel good to go, but then set yourself back to square one if you kick a footy too early, or even step awkwardly when running.
  8. It's looking more and more like a Los Angeles-New York final. Definitely not what I expected. I'd like to see the Rangers have a win, as I quite like Marty St. Louis, but am not too fussed really.
  9. While I agree with parts of this, I do think that having a quality forward line goes a long way to how you go in the finals. Look at Hawthorn: they won the grand final on the back of Gunston, who was there third best tall forward (after Buddy and Roughead). You can also look at Geelong, who won most recently largely due to Tom Hawkins coming of age after Podsiadly went down. Sydney have shown that it is possible to win premierships with a strong midfield and an average forward line, but I think if you can have a potent attack your chances of winning it all skyrocket.
  10. I agree...I don't rate him as a tagger. I'd rather have someone like Riley or Matt Jones tag, and play Grimes on a half back flank.
  11. Not sure I agree with Cross and Vince being on that list, but otherwise it seems pretty accurate.
  12. http://www.afl.com.au/news/2014-05-07/tyson-packs-a-punch- "Eventually I was going to try to get home (to Melbourne) in my career. It obviously happened a little bit earlier than I thought it would have," Tyson said. "But 'Roosy' and the Melbourne staff were keen to have a meeting, and I was open-minded after a difficult year with injuries. "For me, coming home I'm closer to my brothers and family and friends."
  13. So why is he struggling at GWS? I don't know much about him
  14. I was interested when Tyson said last week that he always intended on returning to Victoria, and it just ended up happening sooner than he'd expected. I wonder how many GWS players have the same mindset.
  15. That's not right. The spirit of Demonland is to attack people publicly so that we can all see it!
  16. "If I was lucky enough to go to the Doggies, I'd be stoked to remain in Melbourne."- Interesting.
  17. Kent could be good for him to live with as well. A fellow West Australian, signed up until 2016, seems to me like a hard worker. I gather that he's quite close with Toump and Viney as well. I don't think the constant fretting on here is necessary; if I were a betting man I'd put money on him extending his contract.
  18. I really hope we hang on to Evans; I'm a big fan of his. Woulding be to fussed about seeing Tapscott, Strauss, Blease, Byrnes, Nicholson and Barry go.
  19. Seems as though I have cursed the Canadiens, with Price ruled out for the remained of the ECF. No Price, no Montreal. NYR to win the series in 5, Chicago to win the cup.
  20. Both M.Jones and Kent have signed until the end of 2016 http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/2014-01-09/jones-kent-sign-new-deals
