Remember that ridiculous promise to turn us into the hardest team to play against?
It's starting to happen...
Not only are we conceding considerably fewer points, but we're controlling the tempo of the game for longer periods, blocking up stoppages and holding our opponents at half back by strangling their options further upfield.

Yeah Leo hits the winner in the wet, could not remember if it was 01, 02 or 03.
Ripping goal courtesy of some great ruck-work from Schwarz

Hope our are watching the filth tonight and learning something about pressure and intensity
Or if not that, at least watching Carlton for the laughs. Hope they finish with 2 goals for the night.

I hope that by the end of tomorrow night's game, we are quoting Jack Dyer in relation to Salem: "He made a great debut last week and an even better one today."

Anyone want some shares in Sam Blease?
Free to a good home, and I'll throw in my Air Jurrah t-shirt as a bonus, sure to be a collector's item one day.

Beat the Dogs at the G on Sat Night and Tigers on Sat the week after and we will nudge 40k.
Not a chance, regardless of the results.
We've only got one more home game between now and QB, which I think is about the cut-off date for membership tally.

Pretty boring numbers.
And there's a mistake - there are actually 8 players who hadn't played a senior game under Roos.
They forgot Salem.

You should probably actually watch the presser before getting your knickers in a knot!
Why, does he say something which negates or answers my question?
Has he been 'misquoted, or 'taken out context'?
-
In case you weren't pay attention, the two pre-seasons before Roos' took over were awful and completely mismanaged the group. They spent almost no time practicing basic skills, instead being exhausted with running drills and time trials. From my eyes, it'll take this season alone just to get us back to where we were pre-Neeld.
In case you weren't paying attention, I was talking about fitness and the claims of Dave Misson, so I don't why you're talking about Neeld and skills.
-
He stated in his presser it may take 2-3 preseasons to get the fitness & culture right to play both ways.
I haven't seen the presser but if that's what was said then I don't get WTF is going on. We were told 3 pre-season ago it would take that long to get up to scratch, fitness-wise.
Now we're back at the drawing board again?

Dude, do you really need to bump your thread every week? We know, you called it last year, well done, they should strike a medal in your honour.

Tyson "prolific" with 16 touches but Jones "well-controlled" with 33 ?
Not in my book.

It doesn't look pretty at the moment but the foundation is being laid for the future,
Agreed. And would much prefer to see the ball bottled up in congestion than sailing over the opposition goal umpires head every 2.5 minutes. We still have leaky patches, but the days of bleeding goals for quarters on end are coming to an end.

The frustrations of season 2014 continues.
Disappointed with our running tonight, poor both offensively and defensively.
The difference in disposal between the two teams was significant - they hit targets all night, we wait too long to honour good leads and end up kicking to a contest, usually without precision.
Having said that, it was yet another game where were still in the contest until quite late; another sign of how far we have come. We only needed a couple of consecutive goals and we might have had a ballgame.
Howe was hopeless, Watts useless, Byrnes is finished and Bail played poorly in his milestone game.
Well done to Salem on a fine first game, made an impact when he came on.

Key word here being wins, there was 8 of them and a draw in 2011.
I always hated the "flat track bully" argument,
The flat track bully argument has merit, particularly if you look at 2011, the year which everybody crows about in terms of Brownlow votes (19 votes).
He had 5 best-on-ground games - 4 of them were against teams lower than us on the ladder, and the 5th was against Richmond, who finished one spot above us.
Beyond this, he polled in just 3 more games - 2 of them against bottom-side Gold Coast.
I was never a Moloney hater, but I lost any respect I had for him with the karma jibe at Neeld.

Well, we had a budding photographer on the list (Clark), and now an actor (JKH), so it would be nice to further broaden our artistic talents with a painter / dancer.
Sounds like he's had a rough time of it as a kid - good luck to him.

I raise you Jeremy Howe.
He had some crackers last year, and the ones that didn't were some of the best hospital kicks going around.
Ha!
Actually, he got too close last week while having one of those set shots in the second half and didn't make the distance.
The irritating thing - the very, very, very irritating thing - is that you can see it coming a million miles away..

If you keep guessing, you'll get some right.
On both occasions, he's quoted club officials in his stories, Josh Mahoney on this occasion.
Why pretend that he's making it up?

Good to see Byrnes back in - he's our best exponent of the kick into the man on the mark.

Had clearly been reading demonland and trying to sensationalise the injury, until Lyon called him on it & Barrett backed off.
No news here.
I wouldn't overstate Demonland's importance in all this; you don't need to be Einstein to work out that the rehab hasn't gone as planned.
It's been 8 weeks since they said 3-4 weeks and he's no closer to returning to training.
Sounds like they're meeting next week to work out Plan B.

The article on the website says "defender Mitch Clark" has been named as an emergency. Ummmm...

Hogan actually has couple of cracked vertabrae in his back
Thanks for the info Bazza, even if it doesn't really change the treatment plan or recovery timetable.
Strange how the only bit of verified and meaningful information in the thread slips by unnoticed among four pages of drivel, to which I have contributed.
I daresay if you started a new thread with the title: "Hogan - cracked vertebrae" the place would go into meltdown.

Lace-ups weren't novelty jumpers. They were the original 19th century designs which hung around until the 1980s when they were banned because of the injuries they caused to opponents' fingers.
I might be wrong here LDC but I thought they disappeared long before that and were revived for 'heritage' round sometime in the mid-1980's.
