  1. Reckon Roosy might go back a couple of years and put our first pick on the table and see what it shakes loose. Worked then.
  2. I think we all know he can play, but today was a learning curve for him. Delivery was so bad, that at times it seemed to me that he was confused as to what he was supposed to do to rectify things and make a contribution. Maybe this led into a drop in confidence and I addition Max falling all over him must have made it a fairly ordinary day for him. Coaches will work through it with him. Hope that at some time during the week he says stuff it, that's not going to happen again. I think he's got the talent and constitution to deal with today and drag a few positives out of it. A lot of his game today was influenced by his team mates IMO and not in a positive way.
  3. Watched garland closely today. Sad as it is, reluctantly beginning to agree with STMJ and Titan.
  4. You might want to check how Treloar went on Cotchin on Saturday before we all go head over heels.
  5. Doesn't look to moving as freely as in the earlier part of the season.
  6. There goes one of my hopes. Maybe we can shake something loose out of the Swans , GWS or Suns. Pick 4 or 5 should be a handy start .
  7. Finally got an A grader who we just have to keep. He kicks 5 on his own ,the rest of the club cant kick 5 between them. Administration - get it done or resign.
  8. Yep there are a number of secondary options, but only one absolutely required signing "Jesse Hogan". Letting this one slip would bring serious pain.
  9. Don't have a clue about delistings ( really couldn't care) but rather than misuse money on Dangerfield that could be better used elsewhere , how about we immediately tie up Hogan for the next 6 years making him the first $10million dollar man, then get fair dinkum about building a team around him Brayshaw, Tyson, Viney , McDonald, Pretracca , Salem, Toumpas and the other quality kids on our list. The depression Melbourne supporters have had to deal with for the past 50 years will be nothing compared to the loss of Hogan IMO. The biggest shot in the arm Melbourne supporters could get would be having young Jessie done and dusted for a long period. After that I couldn't give a stuff what happens for the remainder as the course would be set.
  10. A few hung themselves today!
  11. Is he better than every other rookie prospect out there? If he is, take him.
  12. If anyone understands that the player taken at pick one in the draft may not be all that important in the final analysis, then it should be us. Not over fussed about all of this and on the back of last year, feel comfortable that our folk will get us some worthwhile players.
  13. The original injury was convenient, so it seems is the recurrence.
  14. Not one of his best efforts, but one I'm prepared to forgive on back of age and previous record.
  15. Didn't Roos indicate he wanted bigger bodied mids. The days of us recruiting midgets might be over.
  16. Getting back to normal it would seem.
  17. I have a feeling and sincerely hope, you correct the lack of Shiraz later on. Trust you're on the mend.
  18. Wont be the top two as they are both big blokes.
  19. Excellent role model behaviour for young Hogan. I hope we can see them operating up forward together.
  20. Who owns the governance responsibilities ( players/club ) then Red?
  21. Interesting stuff and you blokes know more about this than me. Some may say the "no records scenario" could long term end up a far more serious issue than the very dodgy/perhaps illegal administering practices themselves. I haven't explained myself too well here, but if they get a no sanctions reward for their effort,s it would seem odd and what message would it send? Would not seem right to me.
  22. Seems to me top clubs like Geelong ( Ottens, Rivers) Hawthorn ( Gibson, Hale) Collingwood ( Jolly, Ball) Swans ( Tippett, Hall) aren't that concerned about draft picks at all. They know they aren't going to get them because they are on top. Just pick off the good players from the cellar dwellers, much easier. IMO Players association and managers have blind sided the AFL on this. Means 5 year plans for cellar dwellers simply can't work as players depart prior to reaching their peak and you are left with immature kids. Its a nonsense to be hoodwinked by them. Winning should be a week to week expectation. The potential losses that worry me most for our club are Frawley & Gawn. Silvia may have a couple of years left and Jack Watts hasn't moved up to the consistently good or match winning status. I think we know where we would be left if we lost all four. Hope we get on the front foot here.
  23. If you can arrange an each way pay out for 4th on the tote, your a shoe in redleg!
