How about Dawes for Daw?
-
I had the pleasure of watching a fair bit of RDB31 as a kid....and being gob smacked every time he went near the ball. If CP5 could play in 7 GFs in a row, winning 5, 8 GFs in 11 years winning 6, I would have to admit to being a very very happy man. ?
-
Exactly Imagine if say Viney did exactly the same thing - 2-3 weeks! Corrupt or inept, or both? Rusty......whatever attributes Dawes may have over Pedersen, and I would dispute that he has many at this stage of their respective careers, rucking is not one of them. IMO Watts is a better ruck option than Dawes, especially a Dawes just returning from a chronic / recurring leg injury.

Do you KNOW that they think he is better than Frost? They are managing a developing list. Maybe they saw this as a good opportunity to get another game into Oscar whilst they also had a look at Frost as a defender at Casey I don't know, but I do trust our current football department to have a bit of vision and planning for the future. Great perspective of where we are right now and what we need to do to improve. I read the post differently than you did. Nobody said winning is not important, but positioning the club for a decent crack at glory at a realistic time is perhaps more important, at this time. Players looking for a move aren't (necessarily) stupid and can also look ahead at what is developing I would suspect that were the Internet and sites such as this around in 1953-54, posters would be calling for Smith's resignation / sacking. A few may have looked forward and seen a dynasty developing.

So you do know the exact diagnosis. Would you care to share?

Mods - definitely needs suspension until he rectifies this terrible deficiency, one which almost qualifies him for deregistration, though for a first offence I guess a warning could be issued. (I am feeling magnanimous after a win)

Clearly #1 and all credit to him for taking up Roos' challenge thrown at him. Clearly a guy who really wants to play AFL, unlike many before him who may have liked to. Ad drdrake pointed out our small nd medium defenders list is developing well but the taller ones still need work, and some more personnel. Well done Nev.

I am not sure how to access those stats, but would 11 score involvements be some sort of high, also 21 'pressure acts'? Yeah. He could be quite good once he gets a few more games under his belt. ?

As I recall he had something related to his thyroid when he first appeared at the club, though I never heard the detail. An under active thyroid could certainly explain his 'sluggishness', relatively speaking, and one would feel that it would be eminently treatable in most cases, though it may take some time to get 100%. All the best, Christian........looking forward to a hail and hearty return.

I read earlier in the thread that BH had the likes of Spangher, Whitecross, Litherland and other experienced hardened defenders - no surprise then I guess that Weideman and Hulett had quieter games but it would have been good for them to play against these types. And it makes the victory all the more significant given the manpower of the opposition.

Just getting a little ahead of ourselves Check your facts G......21 Max next Saturday. A fabulous winter climate, though the nights are colder than we get at home.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CHRISTIAN PETRACCA
monoccular replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
It will be interesting to hear the maggot apologists justifying that one. Who actually called the review? Should be shot at dawn, or maybe midnight to avoid time wasting. If whomever asked for it did in response to the defender claiming they had touched they are even more gullible than I could have though. And the evidence to change the call was just not there. -

He did nail one of them......a totally inexplicable score review robbed him of that one. Great game young man. -
That is a huge call nd I sure hope you are right. By way of context, how did you rate say Strauss, Cook, Gysberts, Maric, <insert other NQRs> at the time of their drafting, before they appeared at the club?

I am sure this explains (if not excuses) some of our inconsistency both within and between games, but we have a group that will hopefully mature together, get to know each other's strengthens and weaknesses, and then will develop more confidence and consistency

AFL need to look into Rhys Mathieson!
monoccular replied to dazzledavey36's topic in Melbourne Demons
Have you ever seen one paid? Should happen - won't happen. AFL too gutless for that. -
I bet it is a hellovalot easier to see who is where from the grandstand or the couch at home than on the ground in the heat of the moment with an opponent up your backside. Just saying.
-
Sure he wasn't a giant killer but how many did his direct opponent (such as they are today) get? He fought back hard later in the game. He has played a mere handful of games - sure he needs some more time at Casey but this was a good game to give him another taste and get the feel of what is required.

Some day one of these cheats is going to suffer a serious neck injury and the tackler will be made to feel really badly - the AFL should (but won't) crack down on this and start paying frees against these cheating bastards. -
Becoming a Boomer #2

Pre sumably Oscar And I agree. Needs more time but may well be good in the long run. This could damage his confidence

Over the mark not paid. Should have been 50

Diamond defence? Hopefully not forever
