All Australian at Under 18. Pick 15.

The 3 picks after him have all played senior football & he is still struggling to have any impact at VFL level so it's hardly surprising supporters are very nervous.

OK to be nervous but bagging him as waste of space, list clogger etc as some do to some players who do not become stars is disrespectful and doesn’t contribute much of use.

was he the player who went to take a screamer and managed to break his leg, do his acl, and knock himself unconscious in one fell swoop?

Luke Molan I believe broke his leg very early on, then maybe a dislocated or fractured a shoulder on return, and yes maybe an ACL that finished his career.  Never had a chance.

Very selective in your argument there old chum.

You could say the same thing about Luke Molan or Lucas Cook.

Any top 20 pick who after 12 months is struggling in the VFL is a real concern.

I along with many Demonlanders have watched him a dozen or more times & he has shown very little.

The icing on his cake was the last game of 2023 where he failed to record a stat of any kind.

I will again come to the defence of Luke Molan.
He never had an opportunity to show his wares due to a succession of unrelated serious impact injuries.  How many consecutive  games did he get at Sandringham who as I recall was our VFL affiliate at the time?
Nobody knows, seriously, if he could have been an even half decent player.

Thank you!!! She’s due in August, just in time for finals. In years to come she can tell everyone how she was born in a Dees premiership year ❤️💙

As was I.  Actually 2 GFs in my first few weeks.  Rusted on early.

No thanks we need a no di@#head policy at the Dees, definitely don’t want anymore unwanted attention.

Also no more players with poor disposal into the forward 50, Caleb Daniel on the other hand would be nice& half the price

Is that the same Caleb Daniel whose apalking kick out of defence resulted in Angus’ game changing goal in the 2021 GF?   He shanked quite a few.

  5. No wonder there are those who see the AFL as a totally corrupt body, like the IOC, FIFA etc.

They seem to be able to find special circumstances to suit their agenda at will

As others have said, I love footy and the MFC but I have nothing but contempt for the administrative body known as  the AFL.

I used to watch maybe 4 or 5 games a weekend but really now only watch MFC, with occasional looks at Kayo minis of other games

The hit rate on category B rookies is very low, but the hit rate on the dregs of under 18/VFL/country league players is also low.

Recruiters aren’t trying to draft VFL players, they’re drafting potential AFL players. There are heaps of guys who can play VFL but have a ceiling that is almost worthless at AFL level, so drafting any of them is a waste of time and resources. Recruiters can be pretty certain what they’ll get with those players, with the range of potential outcomes being very narrow. At least drafting a 206cm kid who hasn’t played much before exposed you to a very wide range of outcomes, some of which might include being a valuable AFL player.

Whilst the average category B rookie will be much worse than a state league player, the likelihood that they’ll be a valuable AFL player is probably significantly higher. Jason Taylor isn’t a VFL recruiter, he’s an AFL recruiter.

Can’t stand the guy, but was Collingwood premiership ruckman 🕶️a cat B rookie with zero knowledge of footy when recruited?  Very much a speculative pick.

Our forwards are too static and predictable. They clump together and make it easy for their opponents to defend. Also going to the pockets makes it less pressured for them as well. Would like a new forward approach and definitely a new coach going forward. Stafford played in the ruck and his coaching shows that.

Have we ever tried having the forwards disperse in all directions especially in a set shot (mark or free) from midfield.  Each would have to drag a defender.  Kick it in low, even if into space.  Going high makes the defenders’ life easy, and subjects our forwards to being repeatedly crunched.

We won 7 out of 10 games without Oliver last year. Clearly there is some depth.

As I recall we did have Gus and Salem for most if not all of those games.   Suck depth of experience us hard to suddenly replace.

  8. Christian gives the appearance of being of very limited intelligence and cannot explain why two almost identical incidents attract different penalties.

He has been there far too long and becomes more inconsistent every week.

    Time to move him on.

Watched them both and couldn’t tell you the difference. If anything with today’s currency, Butters gets a week more than Hunter.

I can’t seems to find the Butters’ one.

  10. Thanks guys for your hard work and entertaining presentations.  I look forward to these every week, maybe more so this week after a loss.
There are those calling for widespread changes (or droppings) without really looking at replacements.
The whole team looked flat as a pancake from the outset.  Was this fatigue or maybe even some sort of illness?  Some suggested drinking our Adelaide bathwater - warning: just don’t drink Adelaide water full stop!  I saw fatigue and up against a recent runner up desperate to get on the ladder.
IMO Kolt added energy particularly early and although he didn’t star by any means he was far from worst.  Deserves another run.
The big key forwards had a collective shocker but unlike in some of our earlier games the mids (maybe under more pressure) seemed to bomb high rather than low and long. Wouldn’t the latter be better even if into space than giving interceptors opportunities to do their thing? Certainly missed Kozzie and I hope he feels bad about not being there.
JVR competes hard and his back up ruck work is really quite good.  No way would I drop him.  Still only a second year tall finding his feet.
Some promising reports from Casey especially re Sestan, Brown, Verrall and maybe Fullerton and Laurie. Is Hunter in the hunt after only one game? Reports suggested his kicking lacked penetration though it usually does.
BBB has made a surprising contribution though he looked more knackered than most.  Will the bye be enough or is it Fullerton (or Turner) time?        Although Salo hasn’t been at his best the early injury threw the balance out - have you seen enough of AMW to suggest he is ready?  Woey did a reasonable job though he is of course (at this stage anyway) no Salem

So much to look forward to this week.   Thanks again and stay positive.

Whenever I think of Bevo I think of the different halftime instructions Goodwin and Bevo gave to their players.
Goodwins message was clear and concise whereas Beveridge was a disjointed old school babble.

Thanks so much for posting that Fork.

Takes one's mind away from Thursday night and shows what we are capable of.

PS Bevo totally uninspiring. Does he have some goat photos?

  12. I tried to post this last night but for some reason it was on hold.

I did t watch one second of the Dogs vDrugs game but seriously when is the blowtorch from the media going to focus on Beveridge and the Footscray “culture”??

  13. I thought he brought a lot of energy to the contest particularly in the first 5-10 minutes and was not helped by the fact that his experienced team mates mostly had a horrible off night too. Little support around him and far from disgraced.
4 tackles was more than the more senior forwards combined.

Only one is this Sat against Port.  A bye the following week.  The AFL have completely torched the VFL scheduling and comp.

Bowey approx four weeks but might be one or two more if there's any setbacks and/or he may need a week or two to build up his tank via Casey.

Have they torched it or more likely there is no revenue in it so they DGAF?

  15. Frankly Lockett, Dunstall, Norm Smith, Coleman or Coventry would struggle if our mids revert to the old long high bomb instead of the low kick forward that we were starting to do with some success earlier in the season.

Long and low even if not at a specific target but into space lessens the chances of an intercept and gives crumbs a chance.

Another fail by the footy department, going to miss ever more games on top of offering nothing that last 2 games. Could have been fit and ready to play tigers after the bye if we were smart

Footy department, medical department, Clayton himself or the vagaries of the human body’s response to injury???

As far as I have seen, Turner for TMac is not like-for-like. Turner is a floating interceptor, not someone who could play on eg Harry McKay. And although I always hope for the best, so far he has done nothing in the one or two games he has played to justify pinning our hopes on him.

He [Turner] was concussed fairly early in his first game

He was badly mismatched in his second and did ok in his third.

I still have a very open mind regarding his potential and his future.

All eyes on a few Saturday for possible promotion! If the Magician clunks a few and converts it could get interesting! same with Thommo, Schache, Fullarton, Brown Dog Pup, AMW, AAAAAND Hunter!

Magician??   If you are referring to Jefferson surely he needs a lot more VFL time.

I will be most interested in AMW - is he a possible HBF?  Though that would leave a very inexperienced small medium defence unit.

    Hunter for Billings

    Kozzy for Tholstrup

    Hore for Salem

You don’t think perhaps the selectors have had some “learnings” having disastrously played Spargo in round 0 without any match play at all - Hunter needs a few games at Casey IMO before being considered.
Similarly (almost) is Hore actually ready - if so, sure in for Salem.?

And Fullerton needs to show something at Casey and is not an automatic in IMO

  20. I hope Kozzie has reflected deeply on the effect his absence has had on the team, and avoids any repetition of his indiscretions

As above - out Salem, in Kozzie

Does Casey have a game this week, or is there another bloody bye?
No obvious promotions - would give the Kolt another week.

    How far off is Bowey?
