Leaving Norths forward line open in the last minute was criminal. Should have packed the backline.

Jeremy Cameron is gonna go for at least 4-6 weeks for a shocking elbow on Brisbane’s Harris Andrews. One of the worst I’ve ever seen.
-
When was the last time we snagged a close one?
-
Would have been better if some players were a little more selfish going forward to mix it up. No one tried to ping a long one. Every ball went 20-30 metres out straight to a pack. Same as last week.

Yes we were tired. Something wrong here. We have looked tired for the past three rounds with a 9 day break and a bye in between.
-
Need another tall defender and missed a crumber bad tonight. Hogan is a road to nowhere as is Petracca.

Maggot infestation.

Let’s hope the port fans get to drink plenty.

Back in the top 4 or to the back of the 8. It’s in our hands. Tyson back in a good move.

Field umpires clearly BOG for WC.

Demons Grand Plan for Yarra Park Training HQ
John Crow Batty replied to Wiseblood's topic in Melbourne Demons
I live 10 minutes walk away and know the area well. I invite you to take a solo walk there after 11pm to prove you are blameless. -
Demons Grand Plan for Yarra Park Training HQ

I don’t think this project will get off the ground. There will be a lot of outrage, opposition and resistance to turn over underutilised open ground near the city and MCG to a mere football club. The NIMBY jungle drums are already rattling. Other than during sporting events this land is generally deserted during the day and only suitable for late night muggings, rape and murders for anyone foolish enough to find themselves there after darkness. Many of the outrage classes of various leanings prefer to keep it this way. -
Not so much the actual loss but the way we played. If we played at our best and they played their best and still lost it would still have maintained our standing and pride. The leadership at the coal face was damning from the first bounce.

I was saying even before the season started that we are in danger of becoming the next Adelaide. Smashing other clubs when they are poor and disorganised but crumbling when the opposition come to play. QB was an alarm bell with second spot on the ladder at stake and the revenge motive. Peaking and losing a GF then declining is more likely our lot than winning a flag with this mob.

MATCH PREVIEW AND TEAM SELECTION - ROUND 14
John Crow Batty replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Jones said after the Bulldogs game that the players were tired and looking forward to a 9 day break. It appears the players then mentally checked out. Let’s hope the bye resets the players attitude. -
Saw it in the hun at a cafe when ordering my lunch today.

Speaking of clearances. I have read despite Gawns overwhelming ruck dominance, our midfield rank 17th for first touch leading to clearance in the comp. One effing huge discrepancy there. Finger points to Jones and Viney being the main culprits who seem to think they are playing rugby when then they get the ball first. Dumb as batshit in their inside roles as main grunt players and leaders.

We must win next week. Huge game for our finals chances. Clubs on our heels, the Hawks, Pies, GWS and North are playing all bottom feeders next week. Upsets do not look likely. Only the Lions against GWS have a reasonable chance.

The AFL will put their foot down and umpires will crack down hard on defenders infringing on forwards and plenty of 50 metre penalties from the midfield. There will be a mandated target of at least 25 goals scored depending on both sides kick reasonably straight. As a last resort Channel 7 will engineer in intermittent broadcast interruptions so that they can sneak in a few commercials.

Petracca looks at home in a Melbourne jumper. Hard to imagine him in a Swans jumper.
-
That’s what happened last season after we won 4 in a row. That kind of intense pressure seems alien to the way we play.
-
I don’t think he would have answers. Sure his sides reached heights but also failed when ultimate success was there for the taking.
-
Seems to be a highly tallented player who can’t fit into an offensive or on ball position. Maybe try him in the backline for a while where he has to play disciplined. Play him against type just like Tmac. Lyndon Dunn was like that also.
-
Could have left the complacency until after they got to second spot on ladder.

Since you invested so much over the years it’s best to continue. Drop out and you have guaranteed to have lost already. Stick around and and it might or might not pay off eventually.
