Re bringing Gawn back.. i look back at 2022 as the one that got away. We finished 2nd but players were banged up and exhausted… incl Gawn During that season Gawn got injured and then Jackson got injured. The next game was against the Crows at Adelaide oval and we went into the game with Mitch Brown and Sam Weideman in the ruck. Despite being up against O’Brien both dees performed admirably and the Dees won the game. the next week Gawn was selected, coming back from injury quicker than expected. He didn’t play that well and we lost the game anyway v Geelong. there is no need for Gawn at age 32 to be the Hero and come back early. The key with him is preserving his longevity. I hope the selectors have learned that lesson.

"Very sore" Max Gawn in doubt for next Saturday vs Essendon

Tomlinson played 2nd ruck for Giants - incl 2019 Grand Final -
Ramsden at Hawks?

The Carlton game in 2 weeks is huge. Resting Gawn and viney this week is smart last year come finals those 2 were exhausted

Is it a good idea to play Petracca? Perhaps we should back ourselves to win this one and have him cherry ripe for the PF. Dunstan should be able to do the job against the Lions.
-
Yes! 😀
-
How about Ben King from the suns? He has fantastic upside. A Jackson pick should get it done.
-
Why didn’t Petracca take his shot in the last quarter? Directly in front 50m out? That was the moment to stand up.

Mitch brown was really good today. Tried really hard and held his own better and better in Ruck as game went on. Also ran to good spots when playing forward

Was at the game ‘the roar of affirmation’ is real. Umpires inevitably get sucked in to appeasing the crowd. It is amazing to witness

That was right in front of me. Weid chose not to go for the ball and tried to outbystle his opponent. Wrong option

Totally agree, we had the chance a few weeks ago with the WC / North fortnight to rest up a few players. Especially the ones who got Covid early in the season.

I am one of those lurkers and not as well informed as most on here. For what it’s worth I went to the game and had the following observations: - instinct - the instinctive ‘taking the first option’ from last year has gone. They are cautious and default to looking for Multiple options and play slowly - forward line - I watched the forwards a lot. On many occasions Mitch B and Fritsch did lead, but were ignored. For some reason we prefer to bomb it in long to BB - crumbers - despite the above we seem to be outnumbered at the forward packs - Fritsch / spargo / kosi / nibbler were rarely able to capitalise - pressure - the pressure upstream was well below last year, allowing them to get chains going - predictable - kick out to Gawn, go along the boundary - why don’t we ever go through the corridor meanwhile Clarry, Brayshaw and petty were excellent. The bye has come at the right time..

Should they have played Gawn the past 2 weeks?

Shows value of Langdon, TMac, harms and May

Was it a coincidence that after the ridiculous 50m penalty against Clayton in the 3rd the boys fired up and slammed on the goals?

Pretty impressive of Tommy Mac that even though he is competing with Weid for a spot, twice when he was within range he dropped it short for Weid

GAMEDAY: Grand Final vs Western Bulldogs

May cant jump -
The question is whether they persist with the lineup, freshen up a couple with a rest or try some new options up forward eg Smalls
-
TMac kicked a goal and set up Petracca goal
-
Ok that chest mark dropped by lever was pitiful;. $850k?
