  1. Well, maybe we are... Grimes just handed Nahas a goal on a platter... stupid stupid footy.
  2. The look on Joffa's face when he was in shot five minutes before the end of the third... priceless!! (and MM is probably having a quiet chuckle to himself about now)
  3. The other thing I'm taking heart in is the fact that this is putting the Toigs performance last week into perspective... they appeared to perform well against the Pies last week, but now it would seem that maybe the Pies are just not as good as we thought... and don't forget we beat the Pies in the pre-season, which probably says more about them now, than it does us - the writing was on the wall.
  4. Sorry, I read through this carefully, but try as I might, I could not find a single pun... perhaps they are a little subtle for me? I did note there are a couple of names in Voney (who you seem to expect to be fruitful) and Burleigh (who it seems could attract no decent bites)... aaaah, I get it now. Very clever! (sorry, I just couldn't resist)
  5. Yep... I think it was on AFL360 last night they were saying (can't recall which one) that his head was so messed up from the events of last week, that he was in no state to play at all. This does show good management and, I think, shows that Neeld is not really the hard ass that everyone makes him out to be... he does have some compassion about him, which is good to see.
  6. maybe this topic should be "nailed" to the top of the board?
  7. (1) Well, I would think that as they are calling this a "joint" sponsorship deal, they must have someone else ready to sign. (2) Previously, as EW had a BoJ of $1.9m an FoJ sponsorship would have had to have a higher value, but as expectations must have since been lowered (given the extraordinary circumstances) and again, as the words "joint sponsorship" have been used, I am assuming that FoJ and BoJ will be allocated a similar value.
  8. Can we have two users with the same name? Unless things change on WebJet's search engine, I will be using Flight Centre for travel to the US (LA & NYC) via Guangzhou. Unfortunately WebJet isn't bringing up China Southern on their list of available carriers which would make the Guangzhou leg a no go (and for Michaely's benefit, I checked SkyScanner and they were the most expensive).
  9. So I suppose that might translate as approx $1.5mil p/a...and as there is a joint sponsor coming on board soon, I would assume it would be for a similar figure, which would mean a total annual sponsorship of around the $3mil mark, which is nothing to be sneezed at.
  10. Yes, I would say it is a guesstimate based on the 2 year extension going ahead.
  11. According to an article now appearing in Real Footy: "The amount was not revealed, but it is believed to be worth several million dollars." Full article is here: http://www.smh.com.au/afl/afl-news/dees-fly-with-new-sponsor-20120412-1wwyz.html
  12. The tweets coming out from the club say"joint major sponsor"... what exactly does that mean? Can we expect a follow-up announcement in the not too distant future regarding another sponsor?
  13. No pleasing some people! Even good news must have a down side.
  14. Yes... hopefully seeing Green sent to Casey will put a much needed rocket up Davey.
  15. Well, if it's a large amount, what are the chances someone close to the MFC leaked the Polis FB info - EW were a possible liability due to issues with payment and if WebJet had been engaged with prior to this, well... who knows? I love a good conspiracy :-)
  16. Tweeted by Sellar "Nice relaxing day off. Light session tomoz n bring on Saturday... First game on the MCG for the dees... - I'm assuming this means he knows he's in the selected side.
  17. This week against the Tigers may well be a pivotal game, but I am more interested in seeing how they present themselves next week against the Doggies... it will be another emotional day and I am hoping they see this as a chance to redeem themselves after their atrocious performance against the Lions when the emotion of the day could not lift them.
  18. As this topic seems to have a lot of posts raising the issue of time and long suffering supporters (of which I am definitely one), should it not be renamed to: "Requiem for a Heavy Wait"?
  19. Agree... I think that what Davey provides is the "perceived" threat... opponents can put pressure on themselves because of Davey's reputation rather than his actual current level of performance.
  20. Funny.. but then again, that could have described half of our team. But if we want to name names, I believe he was known as Ralphus Maximus, close friend of Biggus Dickus and his wife Incontinenta Buttocks.
  21. Yes, just like we could have won the game against the Lions (Eagles game was a bridge too far regardless), yet we lost by 41 points. Unfortunately this game is no push-over, although I do believe it isn't beyond the realms of possibility that we could win; I just wouldn't be putting my house on the result, that's all. However, I do find it amusing that as we get past the halfway point in the week after a >100 point drubbing, the wailing and gnashing of teeth makes way for the fanfares ushering in what is certain to be a certain victory and a turning of the corner :-)
  22. Actually, the rumour I heard was that a rather tall young team mate threw up on him... no idea how true that is though.
