In true Demonland style, I will find a reason to complain about our performance.

Nathan Jones just this week visited an EFC recommended tattoo removalist ... (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0428923/)

Don't you mean the Mighty Morphine Rangers?
-
Yes, but my comment was more related to the fact that he is playing the game at the top level (not just this week or next week etc). You are right in that he is probably not good enough at the moment... but as I said, I get the feeling Roos is possibly being protective of him by sending him off to Casey to hopefully regain his confidence.

I get the feeling that it is for his (Watts') sanity that Roos has dropped him this week. Roos is probably sick of Watts being the target of supporters' vitriole almost from the moment he sets foot on the field. Even in the first round of the season against the Suns, he was copping a bagging every time he went near the ball; so it's not as if the supporter attitude is built on poor performances this season... it seems to have become a bit of a "game" amongst supporters (and I use that term very loosely) to see who can come up with the wittiest/most offensive barb. Confidence is a funny thing, but I get the feeling that when you are the target of constant scrutiny by the media and abuse from your own supporters, it's something that's pretty hard to maintain, One thing in Watts favour is that at least he is out there playing the game... unlike most of his critics who in reality, would probably be lucky to be picked in a bottom division side in their local district comp.

You are Tony Abbott??

I think I saw something on Fox a few evenings ago that was highlighting the fact that Carlton had scored 55 goals up to that point this season, while their offloaded forwards Eddie Betts, Jarrod Waite, Josh Kennedy and Jeff Garlett had kicked 57 goals between them. Pretty damning of their recruitment strategy.

That will be excellent... but too early to know if I can make it down for that. Thanks for the heads-up.

Match Preview and Team Selection - Round 6
hardtack replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
I would think Jamar is being rested but at the same time, Roos wants to intimidate Pyke by using an aggressive ruckman in Spencer. I'm looking forward to this game and don't think it will be the walkover that many are probably expecting on the back of last week's performance. Being a night game at the MCG in the wet should create a very level playing field. -
The media in Australia (and no doubt most "first world" countries) are first and foremost all about selling sensationalist crap and never about impartial reporting. The execution of the Bali "two" forced coverage of the deaths of what is now seven and a half thousand people (and rising) off the front pages and out of general awareness. We saw the same thing happen in the wake of the Martin Place siege where the deaths of two people was considered headline worthy for weeks while at the same time we had the horrific murder of almost 140 students at a school in Pakistan consigned to a small paragraph somewhere in the bowels of the newspaper. And then, if that's not bad enough, the media see fit to turn the Bali two into national heroes. Yes, the death penalty is barbaric and Indonesia should be left in no doubt as to how we feel about it, but heroes? Really??? They were drug mules... they should not have been shot but rather, should have served a long time behind bars... but history should not be re-written to depict these guys as selfless heroes. I suppose we can all dream of the day when these major media empires see fit to redirect some of the money (that they have made selling their sensationalistic rubbish), to those who are genuinely in need. Pigs might fly as well (athough I think Murdoch has probably already proven that one on a regular basis).

So, can it be concluded that sheep farmers are Dockers supporters?

Absolutely laughable!! GL gave his all for the club when he was playing (at great personal expense physically) and he has gone on offering his help when required (even if not always welcomed). He owes the club nothing, zilch, zip, zero, nada... If anything, the club owes him. Our club needs to lift their performances as a thank you for the service given to them over the years by the greats such as Lyon, Flower, Schwarz, Stynes, Neitz, Wight etc, all gave until they could give no more, for little or no reward.

The Rising Star Thread - Congratulations Jesse Hogan!
hardtack replied to Nascent's topic in Melbourne Demons
It was a player from a pitiful team excelling against an equally pitiful team... so it was a level playing field and he was a worthy winner. Let's see how our potential rising stars go against the Lions before we play down Saad's performance. -
I call Godwin's Law... shut it down!
-
If you read my post more carefully, you would see that I am not comparing their performances... I am comparing the fact that both are coming from similar "attitudinal" issues and that both are more than capable of turning things around as has been shown with Garlett this year. You will not get any argument from me regarding Bennell being someone who could have a greater impact, as I agree 100%.
-
People on here keep saying that, but no-one explains why. Would you have gone near Garlett last year before you knew he was on our radar?
-
I would put him in a similar category as Garlett... at his best he is a mercurial player who can turn a game in a very short space of time. Like Garlett was at Carlton, I get the feeling Bennell is now disenchanted with life at the gold coast and would find his spark with a change of surroundings. Apart from this weeks drinking incident, what else has he done to warrant some of the comments on here that bring into question his attitude, that he is "just holding it all together" or that we should steer well clear of him? I'm sure many would have been saying the same about Garlett prior to his being picked up by the Dees, but where are his detractors now?
-
Didn't Watts sign a 3 year deal in 2013, in which case he is not out of contract until 2016?
-
Is it too soon to invoke Godwin's Law?
