  1. Dwayne's contempt for Melbourne is as strong as ever. Keeps banging on about Lever being worth two first round picks which seems like an attempt to drive his price up. Also thinks (hopes) other clubs should be trying to "sneak in on the deal". The best candidate? Surprise surprise: Geelong.
  2. That's not telling the whole story though. At Round 14 he was 6th. Then he got injured and his season nosedived. Granted he doesn't get a free pass for that, but he wasn't the first ever player to struggle coming back from injury.
  3. Fair cop. Vote spread would certainly help understand how the coaches evaluate it. I don't think it's baseless when you consider the number of games Hibberd was almost indsputably amongst the top handful of players on the ground. I don't necessarily need to see the voting to know that I wouldn't agree with the distribution when it results in him not even featuring in the top five But it's also my own view that this should've been a two horse race between Oliver and Hibberd with Jetta trailing behind, so that factors into my surprise at the outcome. I accept it was a close result, and he probably doesn't give a rat's, but I do think it's a pity. He deserved some official recognition within the club for what was an outstanding season, all things considered.
  4. Nor do I. But ideally they would provide a true reflection of the season that was. As they generally have done in previous years. I'm committing the Demonland cardinal sin of disagreeing with the club, so I best leave it there and go do my penance. Seven Hail Clarrys.
  5. Hibberd's season was a lot more consistent than what you're painting. He had a down patch but his selection wasn't just built on a strong end to the year. Any selection criteria that results in our second All Australian player since Adam was a lad missing out on top five is flawed.
  6. I'd be happier. He should've been top two with a fair distance to third. To not feature at all is mind boggling. It may not be malicious. I'm not accusing anyone of nepotism. If that was the case then both Hibberd and Melksham would have got a gig. I just think it's quite clearly the wrong outcome. Viney is one of my favourite players. He wasn't our second best player this year. He wasn't within cooee of it.
  7. It is absolutely splitting hairs. How they arrive at the result is secondary, be it in a final determination or a result of votes being attributed each week. The point is, clearly, Hibberd's performances did not get the recognition they deserved when votes were being distributed. I'm amazed I'm debating this to be frank.
  8. Hehe. I'm calm. I'm just amazed. Anyway well done to Clarry. Super effort. Nice touch in his speech thanking the receptionist.
  9. Splitting hairs. Decision. Decisions. The votes aren't plucked out of a hat.
  10. What standard was Lewis meeting when he was sitting in the stands after being suspended? Come on.
  11. Yeah nah. Crazy stuff. Hibberd did a lot more than pad his stats. Are we really debating the craziness of our only All Australian player not making the top five at the expense of Viney and Lewis who missed chunks of the year?
  12. It's a staggeringly poor decision. Absolutely absurd. Viney the second best player this year? Spare us please. He looked embarrassed to accept it.
  13. Hibberd not top five? He made All Australian! LOL
  14. Musical act playing "Stand by Me". Did the club approve this set list?
  15. Agree with everything but the last line. The emotional investment is really not surprising at all. Watts has caused the most division of opinion of any Melbourne player in recent memory. Now that the trade is a reality, the discussion was always going to reflect that history. No player is bigger than the club but he's always been a unique entity in terms of focus upon him and attachment towards him.
  16. Boofhead hosting trade radio. Joy. Lever is worth picks 10 and 12. Stringer, Saad and Devon Smith will make Essendon flag favourites. More gems to come.
  17. The emotion on here is nothing. The MFC parents are the ones I feel sorry for once it becomes official. Gonna be some waterworks in those households. He's very popular with the kids.
  18. I'm surprised you're surprised.
  19. Wrong decision from a football perspective for mine. We still have an abundance of blokes who can't hit the side of a barn on a still day, and as the Hun article points out his pressure rating showed the penny had dropped in terms of work rate. I understand all the conjecture and certainly understand the frustration with Watts, but moving him on just when he is hitting his peak as a player after nine years of patience is a bitter pill. Time will tell I guess. Goodwin better bloody coach this mob to a September berth next season because I'm really growing [censored] tired of this [censored]. .
  20. Why should he complain when everybody else is overworked and underpaid..
  21. Hard not to get the warm and fuzzies when a quality player singles out the club as his preferred destination.
  22. Still doesn't seem real tbh. Just goes to show the importance of team first football.
  23. Our end to the season definitely still hurts. I'd prefer the Crows to win as they have two important properties: being the best team all year and not being Richmond. It's tough to watch Richmond making the GF as a supporter of the league's other long standing punchline. A punchline we remain. Hopefully not for much longer.
  24. I've swayed back and forth on this but have landed on keeping him. Sure, his last few games after returning from injury were the Watts of old, but given his 2016 season and the start to this year, that is enough of a body of evidence to suggest it was not insignificantly related to recovery from injury. If a trade did go ahead it would want to be a very good deal. After all the years of development and Roos' resurrection of his career, trading him for pick 29 or thereabouts doesn't sit well. At 26 he is hitting his peak years. Port fans on BF are doing cartwheels at the prospect of getting him. Ultimately the potential for this to backfire is just too great. In the fairly unlikely scenario that he stunk it up in 2018 and his value plummeted, I could live with that moreso than watching him tear it up on QB wearing black and white.. I trust Roos' judgement. If he believes it would be a mistake, as he has stated publicly, that further cements my view. Fingers crossed. Whatever the outcome.
  25. You can add me to the list of those who voted the wrong option. i don't think we're dimwits for being misled by directly opposing questions in the title and poll.. Poll result is now worthless as I'm sure many others did the same thing.
