  1. On the cheap. You ripper.
  2. Correct me if I'm wrong, but talking about waiting it out for 2014 and then receiving pick 5 (optimistic) as compo...won't compo be gone by that stage? I'm not saying we give him an ultimatum now, because he has every right to see how things pan out, but if he does decide to leave after next season, our compensation will be nought, no?
  3. Blease is also four years younger than him. Nahas managed 6 games at the Tiges last year averaging 7 touches and kicking 3 goals... When he stinks it up, he makes a proper job of it. He's a kick first think second type of player, and by god we've seen enough of those. His kicking has always been ordinary and doesn't seem to have improved much over time. I'd be avoiding like the plague, personally. We will not be improving with Nahas in the team.
  4. Wasn't meant to be nitpicky, just pointing it out that he is far from a young midfielder, because that is relevant to the discussion.
  5. Vince is 28 or thereabouts.
  6. Please no more mention of Nahas. He's terrible.
  7. I never said anything about outing them. Just saying it's a trusted source inside the club, which trumps reading it on a Facebook page. "Word is" could mean anything, coming from anywhere.
  8. True. Even taking age and money into account, the formula needs tweaking if Daisy is worth Pick 11. As it stands, or limps, he plainly isn't. There's a little comfort in knowing that there isn't a huge variance in quality from Pick 2-20, compared to previous years.
  9. I think people need to be naming their sources, otherwise it just prompts a series of responses asking where it's from. Saying it's from a trusted source inside the club would be enough.
  10. What is even more perplexing is that the Pies are expected to receive pick 11 as compensation for that out of form half forward flanker with dodgy ankles.
  11. http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=2gQbnLCgLCU Sums up the season for me.
  12. Shaw is a good fit for GWS.
  13. Great stuff.
  14. Well yes, but also the lack of interest in the club as a destination which seems very apparent. As soon as a player is even linked with a possible move to the MFC, their manager can't knock it on the head fast enough. The club is desperate for some quality and experience, and every other club knows it, not withstanding the equally strong desire of Adelaide and Essendon to enter the draft early. Hopeful of some late aces being pulled out, but it seems likely we'll have to sacrifice more than most clubs purely because of our current predicament.
  15. I'm just imagining 5aa's reaction to that one.
  16. The worst part about that trade scenario is the fact that Essendon are the ones making away like bandits. The way it's panning out, I think we need to accept that we will be paying overs no matter what the scenario.
  17. In the age old Demonland drafting vs development debate, I've started to lean more towards the drafting camp. I just don't think we've drafted that well, plain and simple. That said, on the development side, so often we hear about the important role of senior players in aiding development. Whatever the shortcomings of the coaches or financing of staff and facilities, I believe, or at least strongly suspect, it is the lack of guidance from quality senior players that has played a significant role in the lack of development we have seen. They have either left, been moved on, or weren't that great to begin with. It is no myth. In a lot of respects, the senior players ARE the club. The problem now is finding a way to break the circuit and kicking off a new generation, one that is good enough to lead the club on its own terms, with the likes of Jones and Grimes playing the role referred to above. It is for this reason that players like Viney, Hogan and to a degree Toumpas, are so vital. They seem capable of doing just that. Elite players with elite mindsets who don't need to be told, they just do.
  18. Not sure how your finger scale works btw. If Ablett/Danger/Pendles are a 10, there is another bracket of players between them and Jones - Fyfe/Rich/Deledio etc. Jones would be a 7.5-8. From there it drops to about a 5-6 for Viney (though could rise quickly). Then the rest. As it stands, It's a mess. But alot of scope for improvement in them, individually. They didn't get drafted for no reason. For pretty much all of them, the only way is up.
  19. Shizen.
  20. And we heard it here first?
  21. NOTHING,NOUGHT,ZERO,ZILTCH and sweet F..K all. sorry not to sugar coat it.
  22. As has been said, other than Steven, what do they have that we'd want? If Watters got rid of McEvoy AND Steven, they'd be calling for the straight jacket.
  23. Hope springs eternal, but the writing is on the wall with Tappy. By now he should've shown at least something. Aside from a few good bumps, what has he provided? I can't remember a single stand out game.
  24. C'mon. Mitch signed before we became the absolute basketcase we are now and Dawes has said that Neeld was a major factor in him signing. It also wasn't on the back of a season of 2 wins. There was a faint hope the club would build upon Neeld's first season in charge. They were both also paid extremely well, more than their market value at the time. The club is very much on the nose as a destination. That isn't a myth, that's reality.
