We paid pick 23 for Vince and Lewis is a better player if we were to look at both their career's side by side.
Difference is Vince had just turned 28, Lewis turns 31 very early next season.

I'd be OK with it if it's for a token pick, like MItchell.

Saints and Freo have killed it in trade week so far.

GC already said he won't being coming there.

Interesting that Brad Crouch is being discussed by AFL.com.au as a possible swap for Gibbs. Would improve their midfield immediately.
And make the Crows' worse

So Ahern and Pickett probably going to North and Carlton, these are the kinds of players that GWS are giving up cheaply and we should be in the hunt for, but we seem to be linked to no one but HIbberd.
-
Shits me that Essendrug can get first dibs on their top up players like Dea, since they will technically be DFA's, they can pick them up without any other club getting a chance at them, all because they pumped their players full of illegal drugs.

A good thing the footy club don't agree with you then.
Simply, we don't need a player like Steele and we need a player like Hibberd.
We really don't need more HBFers imo, especially with Milkshake already to come in and Labumhead returning, those in charge haven;t made many mistakes though, hope it's not a Kennedy situation, the guy was a dud trade.
1 hour ago, Wiseblood said:Tyson and Hibberd are more than decent and they nominated us. All of our gun, younger players have re-signed and showed tremendous faith in the direction the club is headed in as well.
Some supporters are never happy and have short memories to boot.
Well of course I was referring to this year, what with the lack of any players apart from Hibberd being linked to us.
50 minutes ago, A F said:And I think people are underrating Hibberd's impact next year. He might start a little slowly being out of the game for a year, but his kicking will be vital for our half back sling shot.
If anything they're overrating it, he was very ordinary in his last year with Essendrug and hasn't played in over 12 months.

27 before he plays another game, most players drop away very sharply once they hit 29/30, only the very best will be still playing at that age, Hibberd is not that imo. He may play into his 30's but he will well and truly be fringe/VFL by then.

Totally different players at different stages in development. I watched Steele a few times for GWS and he was underwhelming, I don't see where he would play in our side. Sure he would add some depth but I think the Saints are more interested as they know they will need to replace Montagna soon.
Hibberd will be a very good pick up for use and help add experience and stability to our young back line.
Of course they're totally different, I would rather Steele regardless, mainly because he has more than a couple of years left..

He'd come relatively cheap too. Our 2nd rounder would have got it done.
Would much rather him than Hibberd.
Don't you love it how they say they want to attend BnF's before making any decisions on their future, everyone knew he would req a trade to StK months ago. Would be nice if a decent player not at the end of their career nominated us.

Surely Freo would be keen on Tippett?
They're already getting a few NQR key forwards in Kersten, McCarthy and Black

Disgusting double standards, AFL just make it up as they go along. Hope the player they draft walks out on them after 2 years.

Koby Stevens is looking for a new home. We would be stupid not to have a look.
Slow inside mid with poor kicking. Pass.

Forget HIbberd, this is the kind of player we need.

Get him, couldn't be any worse than a Ben Kennedy and won't cost anywhere near as much as that spud.

Shocking umpiring biased towards the doggies so far

An element to consider about the supposed " not trying to retain " is the special circumstance EFC find themselves in. If any player really wanted to leave....they ( the player have a distinct upper hand , clasping a mighty big sword )
Now teh ruling has been delivered Essendon are in no position to argue with anyone really. Hence Dodoro even being almost amenable
Apart from those circumstances, they wouldn't offer him an acceptable length deal, something well within their control. They were more than happy to give longer term contracts to players like Hurley who they were desperate to retain, Hibberd was clearly not a priority, and I'm not sure why we've made it one given the number of HBFers we already have, even though he may be a minor upgrade on some of them.

We should shop Garland around, not Dunn.
-
Landing a 27yo that Essendon didn't even particularly try to retain is hardly a coup. Hope we get a later round pick upgrade if we trade away our only valuable pick for him.
-
Funny how players become so good during a non playing period of almost 2 years, Milkshake and Hibberd were very ordinary in their last seasons for Essendrug. Milkshake is ours so fully support him, but imo Taylor should weave his magic with our first pick rather than blowing it on a 27yo convicted drug cheat in Hibberd.

That's not a huge contract by today's standards. The average is around about 380k this year.
No, but it's a fair bit for a guy playing VFL and not looking like a seniors game.
Says the lions are looking at Dunn as well, wouldn't want to lose him as well as Garland. We'd need backup if a Mac or Frost goes down.

If Melbourne got pick 48 for Garland they've made off like bandits.
As long as they take on his full contract yep. He'd be on 400K wouldn't he?

Neither of those 2 are key position though, Smith is still an unknown, doubt very much we trade Frost after targeting and giving up pick 23 for him. Other than the Mac boys we have no young KPDs.
