  1. Hogan has 72. Melksham alone has 48. Then Tom Mac 43, Hunt 40 etc. etc. Just nonsense.
  2. Of course we didn't. Just like we didn't hear of any criticism of the medical team or of Misson (not the same thing), when we managed to get Hogan back on the field for 6 goals and arguably his best game for the club just 3 weeks after he'd broken his collar bone. Many of the comments here are just ill-informed scapegoating. No matter who we get in next year, players will still get injured (surprise surprise), and we'll still see vague 4-6 weeks prognostics, or 4 weeks that blows out to 12. And we'll still have comments on our lack of fitness when we lose games, but no comments on fitness when we win them.
  3. There was some discussion about this on On the Couch (I think it was), pointing out that it was a lack of system, predictability and skill in the mids that was having a negative impact on the forwards. Chain of possession coming through the midfield, forward makes lead, but then last players in the upfield chain fluff the disposal/connection or hesitate ... forward is left out of position and/or manned up when the ball finally comes in.
  4. Preuss at *VFL* level: 5 goals in 5 games. One goal in last three games. 6 goals in 17 VFL games last season at North. He's a goal-kicking machine.
  5. On the evidence of this thread, not much.
  6. Phew, at least someone gets it. (i.e., someone apart from the coaching staff).
  7. Whatever happens, a decision on the captaincy won't be made by anyone posting on this thread. Thankfully.
  8. But of course. He's also currently doing what other the other forwards don't: more contested possessions than Hunt, Garlett and Hannan combined. The fact that people can't see why Spargo is in the team says a lot about them, not much about Spargo.
  9. 22 shots on goal should be enough to get the job done, but almost none of them are renowned for their kicking prowess.
  10. Spargo has more possessions than the other two put together, plus a goal, but heh ... Spargo is the worst. The workings of the human mind are a wonder to behold.
  11. It's the coaches' fault for dropping chest marks or not being able to hit someone with a handpass 2 metres away?
  12. His one decent game for the year at Casey.
  13. Petracca has been good, even very good. If others were able to take advantage of his work, would look even better. On the negatives, not sure how Hunt keeps being given a pass. People banging on about Spargo, but Hunt has done next to nothing today, as most days (apart from the odd cameo). Same with Hannan. OK, Hannan, benefit of the doubt for the long layoff, but if you look at what's happening with both of the H's, and you look at what's happening up the other end of the ground ... night and day.
  14. Collingwood playing like last year's grand finalists.
  15. Yes, his 8 disposals against the Giants were a real game-changer.
  16. Next you'll be telling us that you're a stable genius.
  17. "Institutional racism is distinguished from the explicit attitudes or racial bias of individuals by the existence of systematic policies or laws and practices that provide differential access to goods, services and opportunities of society by race. Institutional racism results in data showing racial gaps across every system. For children and families it affects where they live, the quality of the education they receive, their income, types of food they have access to, their exposure to pollutants, whether they have access to clean air, clean water or adequate medical treatment, and the types of interactions they have with the criminal justice system." https://fpg.unc.edu/sites/fpg.unc.edu/files/resources/other-resources/What Racism Looks Like.pdf
  18. What, like last time he played at Casey: "Defender Oscar McDonald did his chances of a recall to the senior side no harm with a strong showing for the Demons in their one-point loss to Richmond at Casey Fields. McDonald picked up a team-high 22 disposals ..."
  19. Spargo is fine. Has earned his place, certainly in relation to the other small forwards down there. Not to mention, not sure who he's keeping out ... Bedford? Team looks solid, just missing Melksham and Jetta for mine, Vandenberg would be handy as well.
  20. Absolutely. Though not alone unfortunately. There are parallels with what happened to Goodes and what has happened in European football to black players like Raheem Sterling and Moise Keane.
  21. “It was a massive weight on my shoulders,” he said. “It was a lot of pressure which I didn’t really enjoy too much. It affected me quite hard mentally and affected my footy as well."
