  1. Except that he'll be unavailable. Just the way it is. Carry on.
  2. .... and injuries. Lots of 'em. Petracca, Trengove, Frost, Salem, Viney, Pedersen, Kent all missed (big) slabs of the season (or most of it). Even having a player like ANB miss most of the pre-season didn't help. OK, injuries are part of the game, but we don't have the depth to cover the above outs.
  3. Their list gets reduced by this year (by 2 players), as does their salary cap allowance. The big squeeze. Happy to have all 3, will add something, even if it's only a harder edge and competitiveness. They're ahead, even streets ahead, of the likes of Bail and Matt Jones.
  4. Of all the names being thrown about, Parish is the one who would never have fallen to Pick 6. Given that moving us up to 3/ish was clearly one of the main aims of the trade period, I just think that Parish is the player we're after. I know that big-bodied mids are all the rage, and for good reason. But as has been commented upon already here, we lack outside class - it's precisely what our recently-departed Pick 4 was supposed to provide.
  5. King and White can stay as rookies, but after 2 years, Harmes has to be upgraded, delisted or delisted and re-rookied. I believe ...
  6. Just patently untrue. Dogs, in particular, went very hard for him, it was the Neeld factor that got him over the line for us.
  7. Only on Demonland are people giving us a C.
  8. We landed 2 A-grade picks. Not quite the same, but close enough for me. Overall, A - because going down the route we chose (maximising draft picks), we couldn't have done better. We could have perhaps have landed Prestia (or similar), but then we'd be out of this draft before the second round at the earliest. And perhaps the next one as well.
  9. Hang on, we got a second round pick for Howe. That's chump change? If so, I'm sure you'd be over the moon with the Melksham deal, only having to pay "chump change".
  10. We haven't lost it, we've taken it this year. You'd have to jump through a lot of hoops to see today's trades as a negative/loss. Still, true to D'Land form, there'll always be at least one.
  11. Anyone who gets the first 22 right from this far out deserves free D'Land membership for life. Can't even begin to imagine ...
  12. Turning pick 6 into two picks in the first 7 is close enough to a big fish.
  13. This is what "we'll be agressive in the trade period" looks like.
  14. I'll answer my own question. Yes there was a poll: Who should we select? Wines (70 votes [29.29%] - View) Toumpas (148 votes [61.92%] - View) Other (0 votes [0.00%]) Don't know? (21 votes [8.79%] - View)
  15. Not my recollection. Wasn't there a poll?
  16. Apart from one or two cameos, when did Howe ever make an impact up forward?
  17. We don't need all of Dunn, two McDonalds and Frost down back. Then throw in Pedersen and perhaps King as well. Options, I would have thought.
  18. It isn't a balls up, but in any case, it won't be. Happens to every club, and will happen again to us. Let's not forget Collingwood are trading out two first round picks this year.
  19. FGS, get over it. In the larger scheme of things, it just doesn't matter - though Melksham was always worth around what we paid. BTW, Cam McCarthy (GWS) says hi. Typical of so many posters on this board, but across every club at the moment. We were screwed, player X was worth much more than what we got/we were screwed, overpaying for player X.
  20. Still amazed how many posters care about the difference between pick 25 and 29.
  21. Chasing and catching: not necessarily the same thing. Though in any case, I thought that the priority was mids, mids and more mids, it was the press who ramped up the "a mate for Hogan" idea.
  22. Revisionist. Even for nothing, plenty were. Cross was past it, and Garlett couldn't even get a game at Carlton.
  23. That's the spirit. And Jack Watts will win the Brownlow. FFS, Toumpas had the same chance as Viney, and after 3 years, couldn't even get a game when we were crying out for players due to our injury list. Even first year rookies who started the season in the VFL development league were being picked in front of him. We've had a really good development setup in place for the last couple of years at least, and the only player it seem not to have benefited is JT.
