26 in the academy. 5 of them are under team academy. Then 3 father sons.  That leaves 18/26 as “available”.  Harvey Langford was very good this year for Stingrays.   Strong taller mid with good left foot disposal.  Not overawed in the contest even as an underager this year.

Is training with us currently- Langford

If I attend, I’ll be submitting the following questions:

    1) what was the rationale and perceived competitive advantage behind playing one man less than our opponent in the semi final, on a warm September night. Bearing in mind that the opposition’s sub was instrumental in setting up the winning goal.

    2) Why did we play one tall defender short against Collingwood in the qualifying final when McStay kicked 2 goals on smaller opponents and 2 goals was essentially the difference. We demonstrated in the Essendon, Fremantle and Carlton (rd 22) losses that playing just 2 tall defenders is a losing formula.

    3) Why did we travel back to Melbourne between our West Coast game and Gather Round, rather than setting up camp in Adelaide prior to the Essendon game? A game that proved to be our most lethargic and poorest of the year. Where was the foresight and innovation that the Dogs showed when they went from Gather Round direct to Perth (rather than heading back home) and had a solid win over Freo?

    4) How is the club addressing our gross inaccuracy in the finals series, and ensuring that next year we give ourselves every opportunity to win a final rather than lamenting miss after miss.

All good and valid points raised- another maybe the injuries to many players?

Injury ruined the draft chances for Riak Andrew in 2023. He’s very lightly built (192cm, 72kg) and plays as a tall interceptor role as a defender.  Similar but shorter than his brother Mac Andrew (Suns) , he is raw but you can see real talent and he has the athletic qualities to progress to the AFL. Hope he gets into Casey list program and continues developing

Agree- saw him early in the season and thought he had something to give, we wish him well, maybe his big brother may eventually join him

Couldn’t agree more Earl. The only reason I can come up with is that they intend to do a lot of goal kicking practice so let’s keep it closed to the public.

I think your onto  something here..maybe Choco has come up with another kicking invention of sorts..and wants to keep it under wraps ( try out).

    The band’s back together!

SOOO good to see Gussy. i got a greasy hug. Sunscreen everywhere. He apologised, I said worth it just to see you looking so well. He noticed my Demonland T-shirt, I told him everyone on DL loves him and are stoked he’s playing on.

Noah Yze is here! Looks like his dad.

    Kozzie looks great, so fit!

Today’s session is easy for me to explain… running. Running, running and more running. Poor bastards, I’m knackered just watching them 🥵

Maysie just walked past and said “this is the worst, I [censored] hate this” 🤣

The rig on Tommo!!! Apparently he just ran the fastest, according to my buddy who timed them. So, not official. But hella fast.

So appreciate your and others Work..thanks

Woey jnr to be in the team for round 1. Looks strong.  Good pace. Run run run.   That’s what we need.

Where do you suggest his position, will be HBF?    He will be fighting Hore for this role.I cannot see him replacing Langdon or Hunter for a wing role. And Windsor will be trying to create an opening there. He may play mid coming of the bench?  Await your thoughts.

I agree with what you say, but the issues you raised have nothing to do with culture. We obviously had to rework our gameplan after losing our key forwards before and during the finals and losing Brayshaw in the first few minutes of the QF. We didn't have the time or the personnel left to adapt.  This may have contributed to the way we played against Carlton. Looking back, I think we did extraordinarily well to be in a position to win both games.

Under the circumstances I agree. Now, in 2024- we have recruited cover, to handle injuries etc.

He also clearly stated that we were only ever going to take 2 players in the draft.

He did  so, but firstly, great interview and thank you .If anyone wants to read the Twomey report today on Gettable,AFL website-  Twomey highlights that Melbourne tried everything to move up the table but would not go over the top,Gaining two likely types whom could break into the 22 or 23 in 2024.Another great job by Lamb and Taylor , a great coupling indeed.

  10. An evaluation - review should have been done since finals time in the men’s season. No doubt a weakness in the forward line was gained. Thus Fullerton, McAdam, Tholstrup were signed up, along with Billings and Windsor to cover outside mid weakness.Fullerton to cover secondary ruck post.I still see a weakness there.Need to sort out overhang of court issues .President needs to sort out where she stands….re ground issue and to make hard decisions.Coaches , both men’s and women’s need changes in coaching - same voice maybe not getting through.Although Yze has left, McQualter comes in and needs to gain cohesion with mid team.Ditto ,women’s minds need to lift next season and need a quality back tall as an urgent requirement.Changes in the board could be a strong assistance re same old as been the motto for many years now.

I strongly believe both men’s and women’s teams are premiership hopes next year but players like Turner, Howes etc need to step up…Fullerton a major risk in the men’s.

My big thanks to all our trackwatchers. It's so good to have you back.

By the way, is Satyricon in attendance? (Saty, if you're reading this, I miss your reports, although I can understand why you may have chosen to withdraw.)

Agree, but Tholstrup could, played already against men this year, really looks the goods..On first sight, really looks the goods.

Great to hear Clarry is back at training. i had thought he’d take the rest of the year off. hopefully he is feeling good in all ways and rejuvenated

The Ceduna sun may have fixed him up..dried him out ..hopefully put his step into gear…forward march

I couldnt remember all last years numbers (I normally pride myself on it) and I googled MFC player numbers. Most hits showed new players with or without numbers, but only current list. it was no surprise to me that MFC website showed all the last years players and numbers.

Also, still showing the players that left.

If we’re putting in requests then I thought Tarkyn O’Leary was unlucky to not be drafted and would be worth a look as an outside runner.

As well as Sammy van Rooyen, who probably just stays at Claremont and goes through the grades but it would be nice to have him over here.

Agree totally,In an area, I deem weak on our list, being small backs,I feel we should have retained him.At least for another year.Best of luck Deakin, hope you make it.With regards Shipp andO’leaty both should be given a trading run with the hope of making our last pick via SPP.
