  1. youre an angry little man arent you

    DC summed it up well.

If you were capable youd understand it was simply a choice not offered where as it ought to hace been I.e correcting an error.

It wasn't about suggesting or imposing a view more about seeing what the board thought.

Watts has always divided supporters and this bears it out. Really as simple as that.

lol... Angry? Not really... Little? Nope... Man? Ummm... Maybe...
  2. tatu, i doubt bb is trying to manipulate the poll, just trying to give reasonable options

don't think he's too fussed whether others disagree with him or not

he has been pushing hard for a jack watts trade, for a while now... Then he made this poll, where the result opposes his view and now he'd like add new options?

I suppose it could be merely a coincidence...lol...

  3. I should have included another choice in the original question.

Keep , unless a really good trade is offered

That is ..might as well keep him unless something just too tempting is placed on the table.

I dont expect any to do so , but I'll add it and if any want to change their vote they can.Its still a "keep'" just with a rider :)

so you haven't really got the results you wanted? So you'd like to change the poll so you do...lol... Maybe your way of thinking is just not the way the majority here think...
  4. Tatu, you've had a lot of likes..... (Censored) OFF!

    pffft... Cheap jab...lol...

I would prefer to draft in an astablished player or players, rather than wait the time it would take to develop a draftee... Of course I'm all for taking a PP, if thats all thats on offer... I just believe there could be a quicker way to help struggling clubs

  5. Both still have extra cap room I believe but i'd imagine the same rules would apply where they have to pay 95% although both have players on good dollars so I doubt they would have any issue with that

the thing I think our club needs is a good traditional rebuild through the draft with some high quality people on board to make sure we develop the young talent we bring in, no more quick fixes, no more bandaids, a PP now could be exactly what we need

but do they actually pay that money? Have they even made a profit yet? Where does there money come from? They've had everything handed to them for nothing...
  6. It is the other way around! The AFL have been costing us money for years, most lately by scheduling the majority of our matches at 4.40pm of a Sunday afternoon. No wonder we are skint. When Carlton or Collingwood get an occassional game scheduled in this time frame (or at Etihad) they scream blue murder and threaten to sue the AFL for $.5M compensation for loss of takings. Remember everybody, the MCG was and is our historic home ground ever since we were the Melbourne Cricket Club Football Club and these more powerful Clubs only got to play there at Finals time or when they played us (and we got the bulk of the takings as the home team).

Don't run away with the idea that the AFL doesn't owe us big time for how they have crucified us and we should even get a second priority pick for the one we lost out on last year when we won two matches. I am so over Eddie Mcguire!

I think you may have misunderstood what I'm suggesting?

I would prefer the AFL give us money and salary cap space, than a priority pick...

  7. Id say a PP is the the band aid.... We are now stuck in a rebuilding the rebuild loop and if we continue to go to early draft picks, we will become a development team for stronger clubs to pick clean via free agency... The stronger club don't need draft picks because they can just poach up and coming players from us, while continuing to play finals and win premierships... Its called 'having your cake and eating it too"... A salary cap allowance would be a quicker form of assistance, which is what clubs who ask for assistance need... it would also even up free agency in a small way, by giving weaker clubs the money/chance to compete... Rebuilding through the draft with early picks is an over rated and out dated form of a rebuild, it takes to long and is old fashioned... The theatre of watching your team build a group together would be great and i think we all fell for that dream a few years ago... but with free agency now in play, the game has changed... its about money now... the likelihood of us actually holding onto the players we draft is zero...

Maybe the AFL want us to leak away at the bottom until we die, who knows? But if the don't.. Then they should seriously consider this...

  8. I reckon they would already be paying for a good chunk of Mr Roos salary

which has only happened, because we have been terrible for years... A fully payed salary cap allowance, might be a quicker way for our club to stop costing them money... It could be cheaper for them to invest in this now, rather than continually propping us up for 8 more years...

How much of the salary cap do GWS and Gold Coast actually pay?

  9. Extra salary cap allowance would be absolutely useless because as PJ has said publicly, we aren't even capable of payng our entire salary cap as it is.

We have been costing the AFL money for 8 long years... it would cost them less to give us the allowance... Otherwise we will just keep leaking money...
  10. I'd perfer an extra salary cap allowance...

Drafting young players takes to long and our club is fast running out of time... Its clear we need some kind of assistance, but im not sure an extra pick is the answer... We need a "priority salary cap allowance" that can help us to draft free agents and trade in astablished players... Otherwise we will never be able to compete in this competition and we will just become a development club for the wealthier clubs to pick clean every two or three years...

A salary cap allowance would even up the odd for weaker clubs... The AFL need to have a serious look at this issue...

  11. King says

    - pick 3 and 21

    - chip leaves, get pick 4

    - pick 20-25 for Watts (Maclure said don't trade him)

    - Toumpas on the table, King says Port's first pick, possibly not on his own, and Maclure thinks he's worth 2 or 3rd round

    - Trengove or Grimes for a second round pick, upgraded first round pick alongside Watts / pick for Watts

    Interesting.

It is interesting...hmmm... It seems that a big club may be interested in our young players and they want them cheap...lol.. We'll know how bad they want them, by how hard their media puppets go on our list... Richmond used the media like this last year, to re-sign Dustin Martin... I wonder which big club it is?
  12. Some wish to debate Watts in the context of progress. That's not bashing it's simply observational critique.A spade is a spade. If you dont like it then thats about you.

Dunn and Pedersen always had some moxy, some mongrel in them.It was just ill directed .I dont think Jack would even know what either word was in reference to. Again, simply observational. As Roos would remind, It is what it is.

pfft... Your angst towards Watts is simply a matter of opinion... you suggested that he has currency, but have only focus on the negative in his game... if your statements are simply observational, why not talk about the part of his game that gives him currency as well?

Not everything is black and white, there are shades of grey here and not all the grey is about Watts... Some of it is about our club..

I don't mind people stating their opinion, thats what this site is about and why I'm here... i do find the constant attacks on Jack's deficiencies boring and a tad embarrassing... Am i a Watts fan? Yes, but I'm also a fan of all MFC players... Would i trade Watts? I would be reluctant, but I'd be reluctant to trade any of our players...

I have observed over years of reading here, that you tend to be very ruthless and dispassionate towards our players... Which i suppose, is a modern footy way of thinking and probably best suited to the modern era... But its a way of thinking that i doubt, ill ever be able to properly grasp...

  13. I should have known this was a Watts bashing thread by the title...

Personally id move on others in our team before Watts... Watts has currency and he'll have that for a few years yet, but i would be more inclined to get rid of the players we have that don't have currency... Its no good get rid of talented players, if you keep list cloggers...

I understand the need in modern footy, to be ruthless with the list... But as a club, we can't go from MFC ruthless to Collingwood ruthless in a couple of seasons... Collingwood can afford to be more ruthless because of their off field power... Its a lot easier replacing players on your list when you have the best recruiting team in the country, the AFL in your pocket and more than half the competitions players want to play for you... Have you ever wondered how Collingwood always seems to have a youngster, who is a step a head of the rest? Like Langdon... Nod, nod.. wink, wink... They've been per selecting for years...

As far as Watts ever being any good? Surely the early rounds performances of Dunn and Pedersen, have shown people here how quick a player can change how he is viewed... Watts is only 23, i wouldn't be writing him off yet... He will be a massively different player at 25/26, then what he is now...

  14. Would laugh if we lose this weekend, secure pick 2, then trade it away and forgo Petracca anyway.

Although apparently Colonwood are quite keen on him too. Would they give up Beams in exchange for pick 2? Petracca is a Pies supporter too...

you will know if they are keen, because all the hype will die down and go in reverse... Lol... If Collingwood want him, they will get him at what ever pick they have... Just like how they got Grundy...
