Off-season outlook: Pressure will be on Melbourne and Simon Goodwin
It's a fine line between persevering and backing your players and system in on the one hand and being slow to react and one dimensional on the other.

You're right, I'm sure he just tells them to go out there and crack in ?

Jonathan Brown to take Sam Weideman under his wing
If he's done it in the 2s tho it demonstrates it is not a skill/touch issue so much as a confidence/strength issue. So he can do it and for that matter he has taken one grab pack marks in the 1s just has to do it consistently.

Off-season outlook: Pressure will be on Melbourne and Simon Goodwin
Of course he's under the pump. Should've made finals in 2020 and lost two games to bottom of the ladder sides when it counted as well as getting off to a poor start due to being stubborn with player selection. If the team has a poor start to the season he will be struggling to keep.gis job by Queens Birthday and if we miss finals he's gone.

Must win game

Kobe Farmer
When Farmer left Melbourne it was the only time I have seriously considered abandoning the Demons. Such a gut punch.

Compensation for Loss of NT Academy Zone
They need to scrap all these zones, what a joke. A retrograde step because clubs started to complain about the northern academies. Rather than fix it they exacerbate the problem.

2020 Financials: Reduced Debt Despite Loss
They didn't take out a loan they secured a line of credit. Not sure how much of that has been used but there is a difference (ie home/personal loan vs credit card). You only have to repay what you use.

Premiership Windows
I'm not sold on the Saints, a lot of teams have good first up seasons with a new coach (unless they've bottomed out) let's see how they go in Rattens sophomore season. They have talent on the list but not enough to push for Prelims/Premierships in my eyes. Billings, Gresham, Lonie all too inconsistent. Steele is very good, not sold yet on King (I don't think he's as good as his brother), Clark and Coffield are just decent soldiers so far. They don't have the game breaking ability that the top sides do.

TRAINING: Monday 14th December 2020
Also missed the second half of the 89 season and bits and pieces through the early 90s.

Premiership Windows
So the teams who finished top 4 in 2020 are wide open, those who finished in the 8 are open, the bottom 4 are shut and the rest are somewhere in between ? Brilliant summer filler ?

1991 Melbourne Versus North Melbourne
The LA (nee San Diego) Chargers would disagree with you, he is in their Hall of Fame. They had one game together in 91 where they kicked 15 between them from memory (Jakovich 8, Bennett 7) against Sydney at the SCG. Would've been great if they figured out how to work together. Jakovich, Bennett, Cuthbertson all had periods during 91 plus Rocket Owen as well I think. A team loaded with X factor but far too inconsistent.

1991 Melbourne Versus North Melbourne
14 goals in his first 2 games (7 each against the Pies and North) then 11 for the other 4?

Simon's pass mark for 2021?...
Yep they definitely handled the conditions better - for me it is a combination of gameplan strategy/tactics and mental application of players. They talk of ruthlessness well to me that means no let ups during games or during the season. Of course we will lose games but lapses (whether they be 10 minutes, a quarter a half or a whole game) are unacceptable.

Simon's pass mark for 2021?...
Haha yep pass mark for me would be no games where I text my dad to ask him " why the $#&@ did you make me barrack for this goddamn club!!!"

Good post Winning a flag should be the primary aim of each club, not a Big Hairy Audacious Goal (I'll never get over this corporate wankery haha) If we are to have a BHAG it should be to top the premiership tally with 17 flags (so winning 5 flags over x years similar to what Kennett has said at the Hawks)

Punt Rd is smaller than the MCG - hasn't seemed to have hurt the Tigers

Fair enough I thought I'd heard it mentioned previously that Casey would be the main base in 2021 die to covid as there is no way to control the environment at Goschs. I guess there's limited control at Casey as well but with less traffic.

They have moved to Casey for 2021 due to covid as far as I can tell. You're right it will be years away because by the time they select the site and actually begin work on it it will be at least another 12 months. If they get it right I don't care if it takes a few years rather than a few months. Get it done and get it done properly.

I agree with him - the challenge is becoming a consistent finalist/challenger for a prolonged period ala Sydney, Hawks, Cats over last 20 years

A question I just thought of that I wish I'd asked is what kind of induction do new players get to the club? Are they inducted into the history of the club and what it means to wear the jumper? After all we don't give them out in Weeties packets as our Pres said The question I asked was around the location and/or timeline of the new base but obviously we're getting nothing on that tonight. Would be great if they could at least let members know what the timeline is for finalising the location and being able to communicate this to members.
