Who have we lost recently? Like the last 4 years?
Please don't say Jesse Hogan. Pick 6 for him was a steal. He's spent
Watts? Nah!
jesse hogan.

the list isn't even close to what is required for a premiership and incremental improvement by a few players won't change that .The top half of the list is fine but we fall away too quickly .We have little in the way of draft picks so the only way to bridge the gap is via the trade period .A couple of trades to fix the pace issue will see us on the way .

Ben Brown or Jesse Hogan? Who do you go for? It sounds like both would come relatively cheaply.

well done big Max .The posters expectations of you are ridiculously high. you deserved the 3 previous inclusions and you deserved this one as well .Nic Nat had a great year but you are still the best ruck in the competition

great to see such an avalanche of support For Jack .He was never a love him or hate him type of player or person as there was nothing about him to hate .Never heard anyone who had anything to do with Jack say a bad word against him personally ,Would love him to return home in some capacity as a priority.

To be fair, I haven't yet seen OMac actively run away from players showing aggression..
yes that would have made it a perfect hand .

All in all I thought it was a dead old show .I dont know if this results from the players disappointment in not making the finals or from my disappointment in us not making the finals .I have been to more joyous funerals .It may be just a nervous twitch but Goody has to get rid of that seeming half smirk that appears at the most inappropriate times .Maybe everyone is just tired at the end of an incredibly trying year but the Count did not have an optimistic feel for next year about it.

not as bid a surprise as his 2018 Brownlow effort .

high end trades dont seem to be our strong suit and I unaware of any one of note who has shown the slightest interest in coming .
On top of that we only have 2 realistic draft pick one in the mid twenties and one around mid forties .I have said previously that we can let 10 go without damaging our list structure .Where does this then leave us .? The Answer is ,i believe, that we spread the load and concentrate on b and c graders of the ilk of Polec and Hooker. They are not champions but are better than what we will let go. I do not see any possibility of Jesse returning but would be ecstatic if proved wrong on this .

should have taken the plates off and driven illegally in an unroadworthy car to show his loyalty to the Demons.
yes but made certain that the car had plenty of petrol.

if you look at the photo above it might give some clue .in 2018 he was lean and agile .Now he looks like he has a wet suit under his jumper and is about as agile as a giraffe on roller skates .I dont know whether or not this stems from his toe problems but I do know that unless he gets football fit he is no use to us or any other club .

s it too cynical to think that if a star player from a big club had done this, the AFL would have loudly announced the penalty was reduced because he did not return to the hub and put the season in peril.
there is no suggestion that Harley didnt return to the hub out of any altruistic concern for his fellow citizens .He has simply gone AWOL.Im not sure that anyone still knows exactly where he is .At the end of the day we must own our decisions . if the club does not sack Harley it will be the laughing stock of the AFL.

i think Langdon is the smokey .played every game and I can only recall one poor one .

I assume that the 50k penalty would be coming from Harley's pocket and not the clubs..?
Get real .How would Harley pay a $50000 fine ?He hasnt got enough for a tank of petrol.

He was terrible in the first game of the year but his last 2 games were ok .plays with enthusiasm and has a bit of zip .But if we are to become successful we need replace 30 yr old journeyman like Mitch with a bit of quality .We dont bat low enough at the moment so we should be concentrating on players who might not be A graders but are clearly of AFL standard and Mitch doesnt fit this profile ..

We have had Kossie ,Stack ,isiah Taylor and now Harley .Perhaps the indigenous players cant cope with hub life and make bad decisions. Maybe the AFL should examine alternatives to existing arrangements rather than just fining clubs .

If I returned here after being out of contact with the outside world for 6 months and was told that trac max may oliver are all in lt m x for AA selection that we picked up a cracker in Langdon and good young guns in rivers and jackson I might assume that we would be up to our necks in the finals series . But that sadly is not the case .the reason i believe is that the list falls away too quickly .WE need 6 to 8 b and c graders to replace the d graders on the list . .North made headlines by sacking 11 and I see no reason not to trade/delist a similar number.

If the allegations are indeed correct then those posters who had consistently opined that Harley had a huge upside for very little cost were a long way short of the mark .His listing has been a disaster .I will make two points .Firstly Harley has never got over his injury and was never ready to play .He couldn't walk unaffected much less run .Secondly Freo and Ross Lyon tried all in their power to mitigate his off field behaviour but in the end just threw in the towel as it was all too hard .MFC was arrogant and/or naive enough to believe it could turn this all around in a preseason .Did the club question why no one else was interested .? Harley took a spot on the list was given a lifeline which he has now thrown in our face . Despite its spectacular lack of success MFC has always been a good football citizen and i am hugely disappointed by these turn of events .

The club has been patient with Weeds development but he has now plateaued. Wasn't good enough to get beyond the scratch matches for the first half of the season ,Brings the ball to ground because he drops marks .Doesnt seem to play with any zip as compared to someone as ordinary as Brown. .I would keep him because every now and then he does something that only a good player can do .But ever since Jesse departed the whole forward line dynamic has changed and I agree a key forward is our number 1 need .

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - HARLEY BENNELL
in Melbourne Demons
Posted
no loss purely from a football point of view .Harleys body was never right for AFL footy and i am confident that we would never be able to get it right no matter what was attempted .Another of our feel good stories that came to a sad end.
