  1.    I'm surprised that Dogga is so short in the betting and the extent of the praise for him  .He is obviously athletic but to  date has generally had wooden hands .Hogan would clunk marks all day long even early in his career but Luke either drops them or takes them with 2 bites .If his marking comes good he will be a weapon but at the moment he is fairly limited.

  2. Not as enthusiastic as some about the sale .It was part of Joe Gutnicks presidency philosophy that we have a consistent and  continuous income stream .Now that both Leighoak and Bentleigh club are gone we will be back to a year to year financial model .Hopefully we wont return to save the Demons days .

  3. Weed was a reliable mark early in his Career both at AFL and VFL level .In the last 3 years his marking above his head has been generally poor at both levels .He gets away with it in the VFl  bccause of greater opportunityand the number of soft goals. If you watch him at training it is clear that he is a strong one grab mark and there is nothing wrong with his technique. So it probably just comes down to confidence in a similar way that Tmac needs a basket when his confidence is down but clunks them when it is up.

  4. Gee Vagg it has been a minor miracle that Tmac has played as well as he has as tall forward .he virtually won us the game against the Swans .Why flirt with that sort of form and change things ?

I agree about Langers' importance to us.  But, I would like to see Tommy Mac move to the other wing (where he trained through the Summer), and bring Jackson into the side.  Just think that would help solve our "problem" of too many talls in the forward line, while using Tommy's massive tank to try and replicate Langer's work on the wing.  Thoughts?

That will change dramatically, West Coast play at home this week!

How absolutely correct .I still vividly remember playing West Coast and Mitch Clark being manhandled by half their defence whenever he went for a mark and no kick being given  ..Our free kick total to half time .? .Somewhere between nil and zero .Not a single free .When the game was virtually over crowd stopped umpiring the match  we then started to get frees .Disgraceful.I cant understand why the Lions were upset at not getting the last minute free at Geelong .Did they think that the umpire would incur the wrath of the Geelong crowd ?.Not likely

  6. He has the safest hands in the team .On Saturday night he was the only tall(Max Included ) that didn't  drop a straightforward mark   .The dropped marks of Lever and Jackson gifted the Saints goals at important stages .He led well and found space .His kicking for goal was a little off but the one he did thread showed that essentially there is nothing wrong with his kicking action .I am a bit surprised by the level of criticism..

Irrespective of the reasons, I will always feel sorry for players that are sacked by the club. It’s a tough business and decisions have to be made in the best interests of the club, but it’s hard for the individual player. To be told publicly that you are not good enough is hurtful.

Do clubs offer termination type counselling for sacked players? I’m talking about players that are not picked up by another club but are left out in limbo land?

To be fair to the club they did try to trade Oscar prior to  delisting him but Oscar had no trade currency .It was obvious in 2019 that Oscar still wasnt up to it but the club honoured the final year of his contract .He has nothing to complain about and the separation should be on good terms ,Oscar has the draft open to him but i think his AFL days are over .

    Do you mean Jack Trengove?

No I mean Jack Grimes .Jack Trengrove was a similar tale of woe ,a great player struck down by a seemingly innocuous injury .However I did not rate him as highly as Jack Grimes. If you add Mitch Clark and Jack Viney you will agree that we have been indescribably unlucky with foot injuries .No other club comes close .

Seemed to leave Jordan Gysberts pretty quickly... and Jack Grimes... and Cale Morton... amongst others.

tough on Jack Grimes.More a case of injury coming rather than talent leaving .Jack until his foot problems was a very talented player .

  10. gee you are being generous to a number of players.surely kk and jetta and perhaps jones should also retire ,bedford hore chandler and hannan  are not required and we should be working to get them off the list , nietschke  can be moved to the rookie list . our top 10 are as good as any other in the comp but we have to make sweeping changes to the bottom half .

Clearly the FD rate Tomlinson and Smith ahead of OMac for our second/third KPD.
With May, Lever, Tomlinson, Smith and both Petty and TMac who can potentially be sent back I totally understand why we would be looking to trade OMac.
All things going well it looks like 42 will be the number for a list this year so our list looks like this:

    Delist:

    Dunkley, Wagner, Wagner

    Retire

    Bennell

    Trade:

    OMac, ANB, Preuss

If all seven go through (and I know TMac may well be traded along with some others depending on the offers but these three look likely) then we have 5 list positions to fill and the following picks:

    23,47,62,63,83

I would think we would be aiming on pick upgrades with most of these trades and perhaps even packaging them up to a team with an academy prospect for an even higher pick. If OMac upgrades one of our picks in the 60s to 40s-50s we’ll be doing well. I imagine we would be hoping to get a couple of second rounders and a third rounder at least with the three players we have on the table, which would be a significant upgrade on our current draft prospects, who knows maybe we can even get to the point where we package up a couple of second rounders for a late first?

And even then Howe went because Buckley promised him he’d be a forward. 5 games later he was in the backline (where he’d been a good player for us). He became an AA defender - but had he stayed he’d likely have been that for us too.

90% of the time after 3-4 years in the system players are what they are. Oscar is what he is by now.

He never became an AA defender .The deficiencies in his game with us are still his deficiencies at Collingwood ..

i dont understand why people are disinterested in Ben Ronke. I've got no idea what he's been doing the last 2 seasons but in 2018 I remember him kick a bag of 7 and a bag of 5. That's enough for me to be interested and is ahead of any small forwards we have from kicking a bag.

Well actually he has been doing nothing in the past 2 years which is a significant form slump .No more c and d graders traded on to the list ,we have more than enough of these already .We are in the football business not the wishful thinking business and if a player can not be seen as in our best 22  there is no point in chasing him
