Of course the umpires didn’t cheat. They are just incompetent because they are poor. Not paid enough/not full time or what I’ve no idea. Two blatant frees to us missed and cost us 2 goals. There needs to be an ability to do a captains challenge or do something as clearly putting an extra umpire on the field hasn’t helped missed decisions. If anything it’s increased them.

Exactly what I was referring to in my previous posts. It sounds like a rant against the umpires. I guess in some ways it is… but lay the frees you see don't discern. If Toby was 2m over it’s 50m. Distracting to me on the tv the umpire yelling at him imagine it was to Petty too. (Fair play to Toby, I thought after last years game sell whatever you Need to to get this guy. Gawn’s thump forward to no one was a highlight and his face afterwards was priceless. Can’t blame him though. Not his fault there isn’t 4 of him out there to identify throws, blocking, staging and pushing in back. Plus. Please move on mid and forwards coaches.

100%. So sick of their non calls. Especially two which directly cost us goals. Plus, the hopeless morning of the man in the mark this year. Our guys are more disciplined or not as smart, but I notice the oppo generally step a few steps past where the guy marked it and are rarely called back. Plus that goal the last quarter when the umpire called stand and Toby moved off the mark before the umpire called play on for Tmac and they got a goal. Terrible officiating. But totally normal. For once it worked for us though! Better start pick.

And the umpires. They just didn’t pay it consistently both ways. Could we were done are usually play on and a few of their obviously called play on. Very frustrating

That behaviour from him was an absolute embarrassment. Didn’t care who won the grand final last year until I saw that carry on and was so happy that they lost. Happy to support a team that doesn’t carry on with such rubbish win or lose. He is a complete and utter disgrace to football what else is there to say.

Agree, he just stopped mid tackle after the whistle and went limp, reneged in his duty of care for himself. If he’d tried to continue to stand up or use his core no way would he have gone down like that. Umpire fell for it unfortunately.

Yeah it was humid as f… dont listen to the dry reports. Pity we were our usual fumbly selves in slippery/wet conditions and they weren’t. Probably worth 3-4 goals to them. Plus some unlucky decisions/bounces of the ball and we get beat. Onto next week. Wish we would improve when it’s slippery though. That and some weird selections boggle the mind

Seats were fine. Lack of noise from a lot of the Dees group and war we were watching was worse than the view. Great job to the cheer squad though!-thanks for fronting up every game!

G’Day all, Unfortunately there is no opportunity for Melbourne members from Melbourne to sit in the Melbourne supporter section of the SCG for the opening round. Only MFC members based in Sydney have this option. As such would any MFC member based in Sydney who is not going to use their allocation of 10 seats able to share their barcode with me so I can order two seats in the MFC supporters section? (Maybe send the barcode by private message if you’d be so kind) Frustrating Melbourne based MFC members can’t get access to these seats but it is probably more to do with the limited release from the afl then with the club itself. What the hell happened to that, kick it in 3 seconds or a turnover? Did it in the practice games and looked great. The amount of missed passes we had going forward because we hesitated wasn’t greet tonight. I know it was only pre season but I was excited to see them moving it so quickly. We stuck with it for a bit and then got slow. What was the reason behind that?!

Yeah agree with that. Said to my better half when the ball fell our way early in the first quarter I commended that it hadn’t happened for weeks. Then it stopped happening. Umpiring too, intentional or not they were awful in the 4th. Anyway, point is Schache aches me as that selection (plus not using him) made no sense at all. plus, offseason….. lads. This is the aflw team. They kick between the big posts. The two taller ones. Let’s see what they say and practice it. You will win more games on actual score if you can emulate it…….

But we don’t. That’s the point. We’d still kick a heap. Of points. Had then during the year and we kick terribly inaccurately.
