  1. Wowee. Dazzle's gone off the deep end now.
  2. We want quality over quantity, mate. If it means only taking one player in the tip 29, then so. be it, if it's Reid.
  3. Only one poster has really put that forward. Old mate, Jimmy 'The Grass is always greener on the other side' The Man Jordan.
  4. We've been here before. Let's see what the result is.
  5. To me, it looks like we're going all out for pick 1, but maybe I'm reading into that too much?
  6. Well, then that doesn't work. I'd only trade Petty if he wants to go back (I know, I know) to SA.
  7. In theory, but how does that deal work? Petty goes to the Bulldogs or do Adelaide give picks to the Bulldogs?
  8. Here's the thing, Jimmy, and this'll be my last one on this, as we're going around in circles, some maybe of the view that many Melbourne players are great, but you're of the opposite view that all Melbourne players are ordinary or expendable. It's fine to be a contrarian and it's why some enjoy your posting, but you've gone off the deep end and this is a perfectly good example. Contrarian for contrarian sake. You don't trade out Petty when we've got no alternative and it's the one zone of the ground that we struggled for continuity and games all year. As many have now pointed out to you, if we were talking about Oliver or one of our mids, then you'd have a better case for improving a zone of our game by trading out and getting a player or two that would balance us up more. But your proposition of trading out Petty does not improve the forwardline. Just because Collingwood won a flag with Mihocek, does not mean that's the blueprint.
  9. I'm fine with moving up the order, son, but there's no guarantees that you can. See the Butters draft and last year with Humphries. So you'd have us trade out Petty in the hope we could move up the draft order, when there's a a reasonable chance we can't. So we've given up our best marking forward and have to hope pick 10 is a winner, but they won't be taking contested marks next year. Glad you're not in charge of recruiting or list management.
  10. I was fine with Watts and Frawley leaving. Less so on Hogan, but happy to get May in return. I like players that are B+-A like Petty, that can help us win a premiership next year versus a speculative pick 10 or pick 15 in a shallow draft. Now, I know you think it's a super draft, but we hear this every year and it's rarely true. And FWIW, I'm quite happy to trade players and I'm quite happy for us to be aggressive in trading as high as possible if we think someone like Reid is worth it, I'd even trade JVR for Reid (attention @Dwight Schrute), but Petty is a proven key back with a strong (seeming) ability to play a vital key forward role for us next year and into the future. You don't trade players like that. And whilst I was really impressed with JVRs season, Petty's marking ability from day dot makes him a far superior player to JVR IMO.
  11. Jimmy is obsessed with untried kids. This is what his posts consistently come back to. Everyone else gets 'emotional' over the AFL quality players we have (I'd argue mere AFL quality is underselling Petty), meanwhile, Jimmy makes the hard calls and speculates on 18 year olds. It's pretty easy from his cheap seats.
  12. I'd be going for Reid if they're interested in our 5. Upgrade 13 to say 7, offer 5 and 7 for 1.
  13. So traded for a F3. Bulldogs will need to acquire more future picks.
  14. He'd be handy, wouldn't he? I think Petty has the capacity to play a similar role for us. He's not as quick or as agile as pre knee Ox, but great hands, great kick, good footy mind, and has good forward craft.
  15. Yes, sorry, mate. Australian Eastern Standard Time.
  16. We have one of best small forwards in the league already in Kozzy. Another 37 goals this year. We just need another Kozzy and and KPF that can kick his 40 odd too. Chandler had a great start to the season and 24 goals is a decent return, but he had two good stretches (rounds 1-8 and rounds 19-23) where essentially pretty much all his goals came in. But he also had 12 games without scoring a goal. That's just not good enough. @binman's of the view we need more goals from midfield. I'm of the view we need more goals from our forwards, particularly our smalls, as well.
  17. Yeah, he needs to find consistency. The back end of his season though was like liability type stuff IMO. That is harsh, but if he could maintain that first half of his season, he'd be an elite small in the game. He went missing far too often in the second half of the year though and failed to hit the scoreboard. We do have to be mindful that he's gone from a few games to a whole season, week in, week out. McVee and JVR struggled at times in 2023 too, so it's all natural. But their drop off didn't seem to be as marked. That said, perhaps that's more about the position Kade plays.
  18. LJ plays better without him. I think they'll be fine and get some picks for him. He'd definitely be a great transition plan for Max though.
  19. Agreed. It's really made me question his position in the 22. He needs to find more consistency or he won't make it.
  20. Maybe, but to me Schultz is a better player. We'll see what another pre season does for Kade, but I'm not convinced he'd be in my starting 22.
  21. I'll be surprised if we don't get Lynch, Hawkins or someone of their ilk.
