We did do something like this on one particular ocassion against, I think, Hawthorn later in the season. Except, the huddle was positioned in the middle of the centre square, rather than as CHB. This surprised them and we got the ball to the wing uncontested from memory.

Interestingly enough, some had Lever pigeon-holed as a mid at one stage too.

Don't love his lack of size, but I'm always a bit sizeist as a human being. His intercept work actually reminds me of Jake Lever. In JT we trust.

A lot of these players were recruited before the professional scouting standard of the modern game. Lachie Neale you could understand had question marks due to height, but Jordan Dawson is a ripper pick at 56. 😳

But it depends how you rate the currency of exchange. If I'm paying overs and it's in Russian Rubel or Zimbabwean dollars, what matters is what I eventually get in exchange.

I'd argue it's a values proposition now mate. Draft picks or the player you eventually get. Six good or okay players versus one Christian Petracca or Clayton Oliver. I like the aggressive backing of our recruiting team. But it sounds like it's a moot point anyway.

People overrate picks too much. If Reid is the best player in the draft, do whatever it takes with your draft pick currency to get a deal done. We've put it out there, doesn't sound like it's going to happen now. @Mach5 is probably right and we need to pivot to facilitate the play for North, whilst strengthening our own draft hand.

I think what Dwight is saying is that height is irrelevant. He doesn't think Caddy plays like a KPF. Hence Caddy vs JVR 'they're different players'.

I need to watch more of Duursma, because from what I have seen he seems soft. But he's valued very highly, and I rate your opinion too, so will need to do more research to convince myself haha.

Caddy looks a very ordinary kick to me. I don't get the wraps on him. I'd have Curtin or O'Sullivan at 6 IMO. I'd have O'Sullivan ahead, but that's just me. JT has a better record with mids than talls (Petty being the exception), so it'll be interesting to see who we rate in the top 10.

One of my co coaches out at Caulfield Grammar who's a St Kilda supporter says he needs to play forward pocket and he'll be very handy, but he claims he's got no idea in midfield or on the wing. I said, well, we've probably brought him in to play high half forward/wing and he said, he won't be much use then. I'll reserve judgement. I think he'll be handy. He's no softer at it than Lingers, but a better kick. I'd use him like Kozzy, a front of stoppage player at high half forward and deep forward, with some potential wing minutes. It'd certainly be nice to have some more genuine competition for wing spots. Let's hope he can provide it.

I have a feeling O'Sullivan is going to be a star, but I think Reid will be too, so I'm happy with either.
