Anyone heard? Tom/Tom
Disagree on the kicking. It depends on the system we are trying to play. Langdon as an interceptor playing at half back is absolutely on the cards if we were to go him. Likewise, Phillips can certainly play half back run and gun. They may not be available, but it's not the first time I've heard that they are.

Interesting. Would certainly change the face of our team a bit with Langdon and Phillips off half back, and Langdon and Tomlinson on the wings. Means Salem could push into the midfield and we could play a more mobile defensive zone.

Gun target - Key Forward recruit?
Well, yeah, it'd be pretty ugly in O's case, but good on him.

Splitting Draft Pick 3
We need mids that are complimentary of one and other. At the moment, we've got too many of the same and they don't have the flexibility to roll through the midfield AND play forward, or on a wing, or at half back. I still think we should be trading Gus or Viney, but anyway. Not going to happen this year.

Yep, well done. Classic Olisik. We really missed you around these parts.

Gun target - Key Forward recruit?
GWS would trade a similar player to Wright for a third or second rounder. Just look at Scully and Patton.

Splitting Draft Pick 3
I'd be okay with this. ?

Gun target - Key Forward recruit?
Yeah, so I hear. But it's likely we'll need a bit more x factor than one first year player.

Gun target - Key Forward recruit?
Now that Ben King is off the table (shattered), I'm not particularly interested in a likely KPF. I'd certainly take Gunston for a couple of years, but I think we need to be looking long term here. It would also depend on the cost for Gunston. It's looking like we should build a forward line around McDonald, Melksham, Fritsch, Hannan and some zippy smalls. A quick, mobile, dangerous forward line. Would love a bit more x factor than those names mentioned though. Harry McKay is the only other tall kid I'd love too, but that'll never happen.

Sparrow, Jordan and Nietschke
I said this when we drafted Jordon, but my mate who coached him at Oakleigh Chargers really rates him. Reckons he'll come on a lot after a few pre seasons in the system. Great kid apparently too.

Why are the Saints so attractive?
Exactly. They've got a very small amount of elite and are almost entirely propped up by a now instinctive system.

No, thanks. Average player with no hurt factor and no elite trait.

I'm a big advocate for systems. Of course, the perfect mix is solid system and great skill, but given the stretching of the talent pool that you describe above, there is just not enough talent to give every team 22 solid citizens. Get your system right and with a few stars, you can set up a dynasty (without a particular focus on everyone being highly skilled). Richmond are showing this now. This is the modern game IMO. I agree with your strategy, but it has to be complimented by a strong system and a club can build that system over one pre season, but to sustain it (see the Bulldogs as a good example) is really difficult. Completely agree with your initial point too. St Kilda don't have the chips this year to play with. Monday-Wednesday this week is actually going to be fascinating for once, because I reckon they're a bit stuffed.

Can we get in on a trade for Gresham? Has that little bit of x factor that would suit our forward line. Has stagnated a bit in my view. Maybe a second rounder this year and a future 3rd or 4th to give them picks.

Why are the Saints so attractive?
The other thing about St Kilda's strategy here is if they don't land say 2 of those guys that have nominated them, how can they possibly say to anyone they're trying to lure next year, that they'll definitely get the deal done? @Macca what do you think of St Kilda's strategy here? I'm keen to know because you're a big advocate of known talent versus the draft lottery.

Ben King
A F dreaming: Melksham -- McDonald -- Vandenberg/Harmes Fritsch -- King -- Hannan/Zippy small

Gun target - Key Forward recruit?
Not only has he been cruelled by injuries, I'm not entirely sure he's the type built for the modern game. Seems like a goal square gorilla with a lack of tank. I supposed it'd depend on what we give up for him.

Quite unlike our mate Chook to drop in briefly and drop straight back out again, with no further word.

Jon Ralph says Demons are effectively a basket-case team
That looks more like 'Jon' and his drunk boss. And is that Murdoch at the front there?

I'll be long dead in the ground before I take someone with name 'Jon' seriously, and even then it'll be difficult. The guy not only looks like a potato, he is one.

WELCOME TO DEMONLAND - ED LANGDON
Completely agree. I'd love top 4 but it's less realistic. Come on Burgess. ? No pressure. ?
