This is very true and one reason why I'd be fine with his appointment. We do have to deal with commercial realities unfortunately.

Sacking Goodwin seemed like a commercial choice to me more than anything. We may never know, but on appearances, Buckley seems like a commercial replacement.

I'm keep Clarry irrespective of Trac, and I find the binary approach of you have to trade one or the other, a bit dopey (not saying that's your approach). I too have wavered throughout the year on both players, but with Clarry's still elite ability to extract, he is vital, IMV, for the next midfield, surrounded by better ball users in Langford, Lindsay and Kozzy. The latter needs to improve his ball use, but is not Viney, Trac or Clarry in terms of kicking.

@Gator , Richo is being pushed out the door. He might still be employed, but he's outside for next year, with few powers. Hopefully we can get his salary outside the soft cap too. It worries me he's on the coaching panel, but he's one of many voices.

I wonder if Buckley has changed his view on ruckmen...

Merrett would be a perfect addition for our midfield. Never going to happen though. Oliver, Kozzy, Windsor and Merrett with Lindsay and Langford on the wings would be drool-worthy.

The potential upside for Hollands is not at all worth the risk. If you have an A+er like Dusty or Clarry already at your club, you take the cultural risk and try and protect the rest of the group while giving Dusty and Clarry greater leeway. When you're talking about bringing in a B grader (if that), it'd be a brain melting list management decision.

He didn't play firsts in year 11, which is unusual for someone with his background. Lovely kid though.

This could well be true - Occam's razor. But I think it's pretty clear that given Guerra has indicated creating a role above Richardson in the FD, it's merely soft cap constraints keeping Richo here, and potentially a modicum of continuity.

Mt Scopus didn't buy crown land. Our plan is to build on crown land, hence a lower cost and certain concessions needed by our side. How do we know the club doesn't now know where the building will be built? As the HS article suggested, the MFC had to make certain concessions. I've been as critical of the board as anyone, but this does sound like genuine progress. Pert seemingly had nothing or little to do with it though, so that was definitely a soft landing provided by the board that hired him in the first place.
