  1. I remember in 04 we were 1st after 18 rounds. Front page of the paper. First time we had been 1st that deep in the season since 1964. Boy were we being talked up! Then we lost to Port by 70 points and ended the season with 4 straight losses before losing to Essendon in the Elim by 5 points. Broadbridge's last game.
  2. Jimmy Toumpas and Tom Scully. In all seriousness though if healthy enough, Daniher. Otherwise, Barassi.
  3. Last final I attended. Haven't seen a finals win since 2002. Grandmother passed away night before Saints game in 06 so I missed that. Cats absolutely destroyed us that day. Even without the injuries it was no contest. If not for Nick Davis the following week, Geelong would have probably won the flag that year.
  4. Will ultimately bank on GA and MCC. Melbourne doesn't have many AFL Members. Geelong is midtier. Afl members pretty much sold out as is MCC with walkups on the day. Melbourne has 45k members. Consider maybe 3000k are AFL Members with club support. 42K club members. Maybe 35k max will have taken up club allocation. Also factor those scammy on seller sites that buy hundreds of tickets in bulk. For the GF they will move all tickets but you're looking at maybe 5k-10k that won't sell. So maybe 80k, 82k max.
  5. afl members only had standing room and "level 4 back" remaining. GA is similar but only single seats. I'm predicting around 68k. Max 75k. 92k for Richmond v Hawthorn.
  6. Cocaine can also provide an added sense of awareness, alertness and energy. The more pure, expensive stuff -- undoubtedly the chosen kind by young men with lots of disposal income -- lasts longer and is rightfully classified as performance enhancing. Any athlete caught having taken it hours or even a few days before an event should rightfully receive a heavy penalty. Collingwood can't hide for much longer. If they go all the way, their flag will be tainted, and people still start digging even further. It'll unravel soon enough and the questioning was only the beginning.
  7. that sucks. good luck.
  8. Bottom line is Blues supporters must bring in the numbers.
  9. I wasn't aware I could just rock up. I might try after work then for the Rich v Hawthorn game. But anyway, yes, I have full AFL membership and it is undoubtedly worth the price of admission.
  10. Had to put a figure on it. It's a broad application because teams wouldn't benefit directly from broadcast revenue. However, advertising rates generally impact reach and amplification. So on Friday night you have enhanced brand awareness, more people viewing and engaging with the brand. This enhances brand awareness, sponsorship. I would estimate that an extra Friday night fixture in place of, say, a Sunday 1pm match, would probably impact bottom line to the tune of a few million dollars. In increases a club's bargaining power, that's for sure.
  11. Are prices still $80 for top tier Melbourne memberships? Because I only paid $23 and around $140 in total for 7 tickets in AFL Members *shrugs*
  12. You have some 180k members scrambling for tickets vs around 100k for Melb v Geelong. Suspect that MCC and AFL members will be full.
  13. I was in the queue for 5 minutes, by 9:01 I was in, 9:06 had my tickets. Right on the wing, level 1, undercover.
  14. he's asking if you can standthere without a specific standing room ticket. Which you can.
  15. His career is imo summarised in the final moments of round 1, 2016 vs GC. Watch the highlights. The ball is coming to him in the goal square. He squibs, panicks, and handballs directly to a GC player. Luckily Lumumba intercepts the corresponding kick to nab a goal and seal the win, but that passage really epitomised Toumpas' career. I remember being at the game and seeing it happening, and the crowd letting out a collective groan. It's very audible on the highlights. Was never going to make it.
  16. As it should be. don't need extra police resources dedicated to dealing with Geelong supporters
  17. GA has been delayed. The only Cats supporters that would have tickets would be Geelong club members.
  18. have you been reading this thread at all? sales are suspended. not sold out.
  19. they were always on sale tomorrow.
  20. same with optus and the world cup. the problem isn't so much the organizations. it's the vendors who assure they can handle the traffic and strain. there would be financial clauses but unfortunately this doesn't help the average punter.
  21. hold off mate. bombarding the club doesn't help. keep trying.
  22. plenty available. tickets will be held in pending transactions that timed out. once the cache clears they'll be available
  23. nah. they aren't refreshing the system they would just be waiting for all pending transactions to go back to available.
  24. not sold out. see above. i have a background in dealing with these vendors and their systems. if the system is overloaded, the cache will pile up and so tickets part of timed out transactions will just sit there unclaimed until they return to available
  25. This is what is happening: 1. People add tickets to cart 2. try to process payment 3. times out. 4. tickets stay in cart in back end system, but the customer's cart refreshes. 5. caching will refresh every 20 minutes and the tickets become available again. 99% most of you will get tickets eventually.
