  1. From a financial standpoint, it is awful. Most of our MCG home games are against low drawing interstate sides. If we have another poor season we're going to be back where we were in 2013 with 13k people going to watch Melbourne vs GC. We were awful this year and this fixture reflects that.
  2. imo it's the perfect test. lose and it's a bad start but hardly the end of the world. will be interesting.
  3. Criticism levelled at Petracca is at best ignorant, at worst stupid. A complex player that deserves complex analysis. Much better than people are prepared to admit. He's not just another Jack Watts. He is firmly establishing himself as a great of the game.
  4. Yes. Ultimately, what separates the great, good and average teams is how adaptable their plan B and in some cases plan c is. Ability and/or foresight to adapt can make or break a season. 2019 basically told us we have zero depth, and could adapt. We've responded by hiring some pace by also dropping a lot of depth from the backend of the list. So it may all work and I'm backing the club in at this point but I'm just playing devil's advocate. I think we're banking on a pretty good bill of health.
  5. What happens when Tomlinson hurts his foot and Langdon gets concussed? Goodwin still needs a plan B.
  6. We need to re-sign Fritsch asap. He is being eyed hard by Collingwood and Richmond. The former in particular is VERY keen.
  7. JKH has matured a lot the last 2 years imo. I see him eventually molding into a Jetta type player. Very similar imo. JKH was also far less deer-in-headlights this year whenever he got the ball. Has developed his composure in that sense. Maybe it's just me but I see potential in him, much more than I do Stretch. JKH is only 24, let's not forget that. I much rather keep him over Stretch.
  8. Comfortably top 22 when fit imo and takes the place of ANB Baker and a few others. Comfortably. Agree he has this season to get it right before moving him on. A month is an exaggeration. He is our modern day Tingay: Talented and impactful enough on the team that you give him that extra time, just can't get his body right. At 27, statistically he is only just moving into his peak both from a skill and physical perspective for an AFL footballer. Agree 3 years was overkill but he definitely deserved a contract extension after his end to 2018.
  9. We'll take pick 3 and 8 I reckon. Can't see the logic in trading 3 to GWS if we can just bid anyway and still be in a better position.
  10. I was bouncing off the ceiling but not from excitement.
  11. Not really. I read that as: - We are willing to part with pick 3, now that we have pick 8. Hence, traded in a pick to give us both currency at trade table AND still have a top 10 pick. Surely we're not going to the draft with both picks? Now is the time to bite the bullet. Pick 3 + player for Cameron. GWS nabs Greene. Win win.
  12. Exactly. We have plenty of runners on our team. We win the ball but it's quite literally handball the issue to someone else. like my work!
  13. Not necessary. We signed an intercept defender so it all evens out... ?
  14. If that's a genuine metric then Omac is a star and Patrick Dangerfield is a hack.
  15. "What's going on at Port?" Well, they're based in Adelaide. That's a start.
  16. Is this a counter argument or are you just repeating what Montagna said? Anyway, our chance was 2018, we are now in the Bulldogs circa 2017-2018 era where a mini rebuild is probably necessary. I'm predicting either top 4 or 10-16th. No in between.
  17. Great first half but dropped off thereafter, which has been the story of his career. Entering his 7th season. Needs an AA season imo. Otherwise he's trade bait.
  18. You might be right bin, but what are you celebrating? The fact that those things haven't happened? We've done solidly this trade period but still lost Frost, player dissatisfaction was very real, ranging from issues with injury management, to game day strategy and coaching. Goodwin was also never really close to being sacked but the club has done it's due diligence and has been testing the wares for possible replacements and has been for about 12-14 weeks. It is a given that what's happened will happen, getting in free agents means [censored] all if you finish 17th. As does coaching changes. Erratic change in business management either goes extremely well or REALLY bad so there is no in between. Goodwin will either be guiding us to a strong finals showing, or his AFL coaching career is over. That is all that matters at this point. Celebrating coaching changes at this point is depressing af because if we'd had a half decent season we wouldn't have needed to gut the fish. There is a reason why these changes have happened. And it's not because of the "All is well, all is good" brigade. They've happened as a symptom of all of the predictions and rumours you mentioned. They are a direct result of it.
  19. I'm very concerned tbh. When I saw our midfield and centreline with Langdon and Tomlinson it still doesn't fill me with confidence. We are still excruciatingly top heavy and will struggle to win 8 games imo. If we lose Langdon and one of May or Lever to injury we are back in the same situation we were in this year. 2018 was our window and we missed it imo. We've skipped over multiple drafts and instead gone all in across other years, neglecting player development and young talent. Only one player under 21 is damning. If we miss finals again this year, Goodwin won't coach again at AFL level. So much is on the line in 2020.
  20. Why do people take this [censored] personally? He's entitled to an opinion. And, like, he's not wrong. We finished 17th. Some people around here bang on like we're assured success.
  21. I can't tell who wins that trade. But something suggests Eagles got away with blue murder here.
  22. What's condescending about it?
