Jordan Lewis is absolutely cooked, never pick him again
To win big games timbo, and to win finals matches, you have to have a mental attitude to take it on, to take your chances, conservative doesn't cut it in Finals. We have to put it all on the line, and back that right up,,, for keeps. Playing safe is a strong reason to not get there.

Jordan Lewis is absolutely cooked, never pick him again
That's the whole point, mate he's 32+yrs old... we'll need him thru August and September. His body has had a real workover for 14 years. We are about to enter some big games, and then finals.

Yes but that was against Freo in Darwin. not a high reference. I think he (Frost) can play the wing role, from TMc.

No we don't,,, we need his experience in September. not as much Right-Now... and we want him physically and mentally fit & ready, in September. If we cannot get to September without Lewis,,, then we should not be there anyway. We have the players, 'young maybe'; but they have to learn to steer the ship themselves,,, and put the things they've learned into actions. I'd rather them try that now without 'Lew' for 2 matches,,, and bring back Bernie now, and play Jones as defensive mid. Him and Bernie keeping a close eye on our back-half. We need that experience your talking about,,, for 8 weeks, starting in August. What we need now is 'runners', and some added speed.

We are limping now since Lever went down. We entered the season limping with regard to TMc and Viney... when all those 3 got together, we hit our straps. Then Lever went down. We have been battling to find something that will work at half back since that time. Since then Oscar started to struggle a bit and Harry Petty experiment didn't workout. So to imply we are traveling well,,, and we should not take any risks now, in July, is crazy. Now is the time to try to get that back pivot sorted out, as best we can. Personally myself I would bite he bullet and send TMc back to CHB for this year, and play Hogan & Weide, up forward, and Pedo where required.

you have little faith swyl. I think we will play finals no matter in 2018, with or without Lewis, or others. We are far more than a one man band, and we will make them without Maxy, if need be. The trick is to rest those who need rest, drop those who aren't earning their place, and to promote those who are ready. Hopefully Keilty gets a shot now, before we get any closer to September. August is NOT the time to experiment with players and with form. July is our last chance to find a Lever replacement.

I don't know if you realise yet swyl, but this week and next week are NOT September... that's still 7 weeks away. Freshening an older player up in July, is the prime time to do it.

Wayne Carey
Anything short of 8 marks for a player like him is unders. He's improved marginally, at taking marks inside F50. He is capable of SO much more than that. Its time we stopped allowing ruckmen to NOT take marks in numbers. Has to change.
-
Wayne Carey
exactly... they do not mind hanging coaches out to dry, over at the Old Prince's Park_ .... whilst they put young guns into hibernation. Controlling their ladder position,,, and the public perception of they're list's condition. They need an NJones type, a Roughhead type, a Zac Jones type. etc. .
-
Wayne Carey
So do I. Grundy is better around the ground consistently, than Maxy. Maxy needs to improve around the ground, particularly taking marks in big numbers.
-
Wayne Carey
No. no he's not. I think, 'if you think about it', he's talking about trading the number 1 pick,,, just like we did under Roosy. So trading down the First 2018 Draft pick, on a number of picks above P25. Then trade some of these picks for some maturity. In a topline draft, I would prefer 5 top 30 picks,,,,, than one pick in the top 5.
-
C'MON MAXY
Finally, finally, finally Maxy... you finally manged to make it to double figures Re Marks in a game. Finally,,, taking 11 marks, against the Sainters. BUT only took 5 marks in Darwin... back down again Maxy. Common', you can do better than these numbers. .

Angus Brayshaw
Watt, you don't think he could have earned that sort of money, with us???

Jordan Lewis is absolutely cooked, never pick him again
Holidays LoL... being professional means doing the smart things to get the most out of the team, and the list. Resting bernie the last 2 weeks hasn't hurt us, but will advantage us for the next 6 - 7 weeks. Same can be said for Lewis. IMO Bernie's legs look fitter than Lewis's ,,, so I reckon Lew would reap more rewards than Bernie, from a rest. It will help us, moving towards September. There is no point having a handful of 30+ Yr olds, with massive game numbers, and then 3qtrs of a list all under 60 games. We need to give games to our young, where we can, and at smart times.

inside mids, in-unders... Oliver, Viney, Jones, Harmes,,,,,, Brayshaw, Petracca, Neal-Bullen, I would say of these boys, the first 4 are the real coalface players, and the others are opportunistic insiders. I think I see where your viewing things from.... we differ on what we call inside players (in-unders)..... I think, we only have 4 of what I would call in-unders in our B-22. The others I would term, as just inside mids. Now... no-one wants injuries, but they do happen. And we need cover. and we need to get more talented. Hannebury is a yes for me; unless he's murdered an underworld figure in the past 6 months.

Jordan Lewis is absolutely cooked, never pick him again
you have no idea; rest is required for the older and the younguns, from time to time. All your mantra of 'work to be done' is just wishful thoughts based in nought. just like saty, based in nought. We need Bernie and Lew in September, and we want them fit and fresh. To aid the likes of Fritsch, and Oscar, etc. And we need to recruit more maturity, as these old codgers age. Bernie doesn't need it, as he is mature and smart anyway. It's Not about stats swyl, finals stats;,, its about composure, & that is mostly in older minds. All the talent in the world is useless without it.
-
Jordan Lewis is absolutely cooked, never pick him again
Nope, but they are both aging, and need rests. Just like thoroughbreds need rests from work, they all do. Bernie back this week, and a week, Or 2, off for Jordan, is how I would plan it. 71/2 weeks to Springtime. nowza time to rest those weary legs, before we get serious.

Andrew Gaff
oh, now, that settles it then;,, he's a MUST get now, its confirmed... he's the one. ... cause bryan fairfax told me so. ?

So, if we trade out Tyson, and Oli were to get hurt, we need inside ability. We shouldn't maintain the list that skinny,,, that we have no cover. I think Hannebury can be very handy,,, and with Tyson on the outer, and Jones running on fumes. We would lack class inside, in those circumstances. And we aren't as strong inside, as we like to think we are. We're strong, but not the strongest. We are amongst the other good inside mid-fields. Yes.... we need outside run, but we need speeeed, more than any other run. If we can guarantee we win the clearances,,, and get the ball out to our quick's, we will win way more than lose. We do not want to pay too much Lira to any one player. Unless a DShiel or JKelly bobs up. .
-
Andrew Gaff
Anyone would think he's on drugs or something! Hannebury has been a topliner.
-
Andrew Gaff
Would you think Hannebury better than Tyson?

We cannot afford every uncooked star. We need some maturity that is cooked, that's still resting. prior to dinner. This sort of mature talent helps guide us and maintains some cap space for the the near future for those who become available. We DO NOT want to lockup all our finances on one or two players,,, who may, or may-not be worthy.
