That was awesome. We just need two more wins and we're laughing.

Dude led with his elbow right at Gawn there. Still trying to injure people. Not amused by Brisbane's terrible sportsmanship here.

So now every team knows. The way to beat the Dees is to beat the hell out of the Dees. The umpires will look the other way.

Jackson's front teeth knocked out...
No call from an umpire of course. Nothing to see here.

Why are we over handballing
Because we do it so often and it gets boring?

So the tactical change for Brisbane at half time is try to injure key players.

Does Spargo have a bit of an invisible mustache going on there?

Joel Smith has dead set lost the plot.
Would it actually hurt him to ****ibg stand next to Cameron!?
According to the commentators Salem had Cameron for those goals and Smith has been shifted on to him after the third.

How is Charlie Cameron on his own AGAIN?

Geelong playing an interstate away game and they still get those ridiculous free kicks going their way. What does it take to make the umpires call a fair game?

Is that meaningful @dazzledavey36?
Possibly just means that they are limiting travel and he'll be doing the WA combine instead. Not a big deal, although if it means he drops down the order I'm all for it.

I have never seen a Melbourne flag. I missed by well over a decade.

And two Geelong forwards who looked very shell shocked. You can literally pin point the moment Hawkins goes "ah [censored]"... so beautiful
That moment when Hawkins looked around for whoever was supposed to be covering Gawn, only to realise it was him? Solid gold.

Honestly, the number of people from other clubs who have told me that if it can't be their team this year they want it to be the Dees is ridiculous. There is so much good will towards this team right now. Everyone can see how hard they have worked and how much it means to them. If it means that the neutral crowds interstate are going to be cheering them on, I'm all for it. Jump on the bandwagon and help lift them to a flag.

We've seen in another thread that Jake has the most Intercept Marks EVER in a H&A season. Other than that this season we have...
Max Gawn - 1st for hitouts, =2nd for contested marks
Tom McDonals - =6th for goal asists
Fritta - =7th in the coleman with 47! (Just ahead of Dixon, Daniher and Darling)
Christian Petracca - 1st for Inside 50's, 1st for score involvements, 6th for centre clearances, 9th for metres gained, 10th for clearances, 11th for stoppage clearances
Jake Lever - 1st in intercepts, 9th for 1%ers
AND
Clayton Oliver - 1st for contested possessions, 1st for clearances, 1st for stoppage clearances, 5th for total disposals, 5th for centre clearances, 6th for score involvements, 7th for effective disposals, 12th for tackles.
Looking at that, it's been a hell of a year for a lot of these guys.

So given he played every game, that would also be the highest total intercept marks in a H&A season. Just putting that out there.

Btw, Lever's second half was 🔥. Incredible leadership.
I'll have to watch the replay to see if Geelong just put the cue in the rack ready for next week, or whether they just ran out of legs, or whether our pressure and contest work simply overawed them. Maybe a bit of all of those things, because we only got the game on our terms in the second half, arguably half way through the 3rd, and despite leading early in the match, it wasn't quite on our terms.
We got our defensive mechanism working later in the game, which translated into generating scores and repeat entries from back to front or simply from centre clearance forward.
I'm.still staggered though that we came from a 44 point deficit late in the 3rd, truly a remarkable win.
They ran out of gas. There's a reason Scott keeps wanting shorter games. He has the oldest list by a fair whack. They can't match the fitter sides for four quarters.

Just a side-note. They were talking last week about the record for the most intercept marks in a season. I'm pretty sure Jake Lever has just smashed it with another seven today. That gives him a season average of over 4 per game.

Not sure about the Brownlow given the vagaries of its polling, but he HAS to have sewn up the AFLCA. Bont surely not polling this week. Carry was a monster tonight.
Clarry really does will the ball into his hands. When we need him to step up he seems to find a way to get hold of it. I've been pretty critical of his goal-kicking, but he's still winning us games even if he doesn't hit the goals as often as he should. I've loved his last few weeks.

Damn. I can't believe that happened. Gawn is a beast.

We also use the substitute less than other sides, which is obviously linked to this stat.

I wouldn't be surprised to see him named Sub in the GF if we make it.

POSTGAME: QF vs Brisbane

I love how we just lock down on games. It starts out tight and we just grind them down and take the game away.
