  3. Some perspective on the new competition and the clubs involved - 2021 VFL Round 1 review: Queensland teams make their mark
  4. I don't think the mix of eastern states clubs outside of Victoria with the Victorian clubs is going to work. The economics of playing interstate for the number of games necessary to maintain the integrity of the competition aren't helpful (I suspect the cost side is why the competition is 16 rounds and why it started four weeks after the AFL which isn't satisfactory). A conference system won't really improve this situation in my view.
  5. The ladder after Round 1. This is the nature of the VFL in 2021. There are 22 teams and 16 rounds played. This won’t last.

  13. It might come as a surprise but the VFL season has already begun. There was a game earlier this afternoon between Sandringham and Richmond at Punt Road with the Tigers winning by 40 points. There’s a night game on at Frankston with the other Tigers from Coburg leading by a couple of goals. Strangely enough, nobody can find the named teams for any game at this point in time.
  14. Game starts 11.15am Entry is free

  17. And with the Stingrays and the Demon connection, hopefully we will see some of these NGA youngsters turning out from time to time at Casey.
  18. The Casey Demons’ final pre season practice match is scheduled against Williamstown on Saturday, April 10, 2021 ahead of the season opener against the Box Hill Hawks on the following Saturday. With Melbourne doing well in the AFL and players returning from injury, we can expect some big names taking part in the Casey team this week.
  19. Nothing else on the site.
  20. Casey keeps the Bullants at bay in VFL hit-out ... there you go
  21. Ex-St Kilda rookie Jack Bell joins VFL club Casey Demons The Cranbourne leader reports that the Casey Demons have landed a 202cm ruck man in former St Kilda rookie Jack Bell, a Victorian Metro representative in 2019. He will link with former Sandy Dragons teammate Andrew Courtney, who signed with Casey for the 2020 season that never got off the ground. Kyle Stainthorpe, who has been with Casey since 2018, re-signed last night.
  22. A local update ~ Kurt Mutimer leaves Casey Demons, heads to Narre Warren In this report for the Leader Newspapers, Paul Amy says that while 2020 recruit Kurt Mutimer, formerly of West Coast, has left the Casey Demons and returned to his original club Narre Warren, the club gains a like for like midfielder Zac Foot, who is coming off two years on the Sydney Swans list. The club has retained experienced trio Jack Hutchins (closing in on 100 games), Mitch White and James Munro (already a centurion). Others back this season are Tom Freeman, Mitch Lewis, Nick Lowden, Aidan Quigley and Cory Stockdale while Cory Machaya, who suffered a knee injury ahead of the 2019 season, is back in training. The club’s talented 2019 NAB League signings, Riley Baldi, Andrew Courtney, and Corey Ellison, Luca Goonan and Ryan Sparkes are all back on deck. The Demons expect to have a VFL list of between 20 and 25 players with access to the Gippsland Power and Dandenong Stingrays squads when they need top-ups. Three Melbourne NGA players Deakyn Smith, Kobi George and Ryan Koo Kwet Kim will all be over age players at the Stingrays (Smith is training with the AFL Demons).
