  1. The eternal AFL medical sub Toby Bedford goals after some quick movement forward.
  2. Goal to Coburg after a 50 metre penalty and it’s a 30 point lead to Casey.
  3. Coburg gets the first goal of the final term and the difference is 36 points. Free kick count is 23 to 10 in favour of the visitors.
  4. Jacob Van Rooyen just took a sensational one hander but missed the shot at goal.
  5. Wind definitely an issue and Casey will have to defend well because if you attack the right way you can score heavily. Coburg players have shown plenty of desire for the football so if things go their way they could make up a lot of ground. Daw’s obviously injured because he’s not on the bench. I didn’t see any behind the play incident.
  6. 3QT: Casey Demons 9.10.64 to Coburg 3.4.22 Goals Steele 3 Brown Daw 2 Chandler Ellison Disposals Tomlinson White 18 Laurie 17 Melksham Woewodin 14
  7. A goal against the wind to Coburg brings them back to a 42 point deficit.
  8. Roan Steele shows some strength and gets his third.
  9. Steele is on the end of a string of passes. Casey leads 56-16.
  10. Goals to Brown and Ellison put Casey in front by 33 points.
  11. Half Time: Casey Demons 5.7.37 lead Coburg 2.4.16 Goals Casey Demons Daw 2 M.Brown Chandler Steele Disposals White 14 Tomlinson 12 Laurie 11 Melksham Rosman 10
  12. Coburg have 13 frees to 5.
  13. Melksham passes to Chandler for a goal against the wind.
  14. Van Rooyen is doing most of Casey’s ruck work. Helped out by Bell so I would say Daw’s day is done.
  15. Coburg score their second and now trail by 17 points.
  16. You would have to ask an expert that question. I suppose a couple of stands and a lot of tall trees would help. Coburg have scored their first goal and are looking dangerous again.
  17. Steele marks and goals against the wind for Casey. Lead is 29 points.
  18. You expect that on a windy day at Casey Fields.
  19. Quarter Time: Casey Demons 3.5.23 to Coburg 0.0.0 Goals Daw 2 M.Brown Disposals Tomlinson Van Rooyen 5 Baker McVee 4
  20. Coburg holding firm but unable to score. Casey leading 3.4.22 to 0.0.0. Daw has 2 goals. Conditions blustery - wind favoring the Demons.
  21. Good start to Casey with goals to Mitch Brown and Majak Daw. Demons lead 2.3.15 to 0.0.0.

  24. On the morning of the game, things are fairly sunny and calm on this side of town but by later in the day, the wind could be howling at Point Gellibrand, Williamstown on the bay where the Seagulls play. The conditions always makes it a tough assignment out there and thankfully it’s April and not mid-July when you can buy a hot pie in the canteen only to find it frozen by the time you get to your seat in the stand. The home team were once a powerhouse in the old VFA competition and until recently always hard to beat but they’ve struggled early and appear to be well below Casey in class. I trust they won’t resort to the rough stuff as happened in one of their more recent clashes in 2018 which was a pretty spiteful affair. The Seagulls have won their last two encounters but this looks like a different team and I expect Casey with 15 AFL listers to prevail. Gown might come up against the current holder of that numbered guernsey. Sadly, work duties will prevent me from being at the game but I hope to be able to report in during the evening.
  25. Yes, Brown and Goonan both out and it’s all quiet as to what happened to Mitch Brown. Another out from the Round 3 side is Jake Melksham.
