  1. Haha, nice to know. When the world is in turmoil and anarchy we can always rely on the inevitablity RR's "Human Nature" B)
  2. You're not still skiting over your "win" are you?
  3. Yo yo yo, we gots ourselves some serious funky jaaaaaaazzz. Space odyssey style! Jack Jack's Jazz 1.8
  4. This thread is turning into Jones from Dad's Army. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZR6wok7g7do
  5. Oh yes, love a bit of Audioslave (their first two albums anyway, the third was only so so). I was so bummed out when they broke up.
  6. I'm sure they mean China Southern Airlines. They've recently signed a 3 year sponsorship deal for the Sydney Fesitval. They may be making a push into the Australian market. China Southern's three year Sydney Festival sponsorship
  7. That could explain a lot. I'd be disappointed if we weren't at least on par with last year.
  8. I like this comparison from last years membership thread. So with roughly 6 weeks to go we've got to signup close to 8000 members to match last years figures. Seems like a lot. A good showing in the NAB cup will go a long way to making up those kind of numbers.
  9. Here's one from Herbie Hancock. I've only just started listening to a few of his tunes on Youtube, but I think I may have to get my hands on one or two of his albums. This is part 2 of the song Chameleon. Part 1 is a pretty cool rambling funk song. Part 2 is a bit more up tempo. Gotta love the funk. Jack Jack's Jazz 1.7
  10. GWS were always going to get their media attention, just like they are now. They don't need to make any deals to get more coverage. And yes, it will be remarkable if the Pies can retain their top players, but they won't come away unscathed. The expansion clubs have already been used against them as a negotiating tool for contract talks. At the very least they may have to, or have already, pay more to keep their better players. This will be at the expense of some second and third tier players.
  11. Ed had several players coming out of contract, it was in his best interests to divert attention away from this. There was already controversy over Melbourne, $cully & GWS. GWS didn't have to make an amnesty deal for media attention. The media hype was already there.
  12. Ed is the President of a club and a media commentator. I've no doubt he's used his position in the media to deflect situations away from his club. But to to allege that two clubs have conspired in such a way is absurd.
  13. Demons still in talks with front of guernsey sponsors It's somewhat reassuring to hear that they're significantly progressed in a deal.
  14. Maybe it's symbolic. Just as redheads have a finite existence, so does GWS.
  15. A mascot with a recessive gene. How does that work?
  16. I think he may have some narcissistic tendencies.
  17. Each to their own. I don't like it.
  18. I just made the mistake of listening to it. Fortunately I don't think we'll have to listen to it very often.
  19. She's awesome. Another great JJ! I was listening to The Strokes - First Impressions of Earth album yesterday. This is a standout. Jack Jack 2.8
  20. A good point. We have a core supporter base but to get to the 40k we need to appeal to the fair weather supporters and that means winning games or at least being competitive (Thanks Dean). Also at the moment we are comparing membership figures to dates. By this time last year we had already completed and won our first round NAB cup match. Our first round NAB cup match is still a week away. It'll be interesting to see the comparison after that performance.
  21. It's not an excuse, it's the reality. Maybe in a few years time when the coach has had a chance to implement his game plan and maybe had a finals appearance we can start putting that kind of pressure on the team. Bear in mind also that these campaigns would have months of planning and development. Generation D was probably already well and truly in the pipeline before Neeld was appointed as head coach.
  22. Jack Watts lifts workrate after spray from coach Mark Neeld With Clarke and a bigger bodied Watts sure makes for a more dangerous looking forward line. I hope to see some big things from them this year.
  23. The more I think about it the more I think that GCS have done it the right way. They've recruited some stars and solid players already in their prime or just beyond it. So when it comes to resigning these players they'll be on short short contracts towards the end of their careers. So it should be relative easy to work around them and their emerging high draft picks that would be commanding more money. This means that they can be somewhat competitive from the word go and be able to hold onto their good young players long term. On the other hand some of the GWS recruits will be coming into their prime when their contracts expire. What's going to happen then? What sort of money are they going to be asking for considering the money they have already been given? How will free agency effect them? How are they going to fit them and their young emerging stars into the cap? I have grave doubts. On one hand that puts a smile on my face, but deep down there is the issue of the long term health of the AFL. Half of me wants to see a spectacular GWS crash and burn. The other half can see that a competitive GWS can only help the success of this code. It's a quandary.
  24. It'd be interesting to see how they handle it if they did get 2 (or even 1). It's been widely reported how much HWSNBN's contract is worth. So any of those players mentioned would be expecting at least that much. That's a fair ol' whack of their salary cap tied up in a handful of players.
  25. I think Stef is capable of playing in a few different positions, he's shown us that already. However he's been thrown around a lot in his few years. This may help his his footy education. But there must come a time where he's given a long term position to play. Surely that in itself should see an improvement in his play.
