  1. What the.....
  2. That makes sense, but it's probably not convoluted enough for the AFL HQ. I wonder if they'll use Mike's top 50 as a ready reckoner?
  3. Yeah fair enough. I don't believe teams will only get one pick. It just seems like another absurd trade scenario to me ie trade 16 spuds and get an A grader. I reckon the top comp will be almost as rare as rocking horse poo and I don't think the AFL would want to dilute the first round anymore than it has to. Most likely is with teams gaining and losing FA's we'll see a heap of 2nd/3rd round picks, multiple picks to some teams.
  4. I've mentioned this on another thread, but where does it say that FA points are totalled or that our FA movements will net 1 pick?

Training camps are in full swing and the season opener is only a few weeks away. Not much to report save for a few hijinks. D-Will and Reggie Evans got the munchies for popcorn. They couldn't find a container big enough so they decided to fill up Marshon Brooks car instead. Suns rookie Kendall Marshall received his official bag for the season. And Brandon Roy can't contain his excitement at being a Timberwolf.
  6. I can understand that maybe the footy public would see it as an act of desperation that his manager has talked to 17 teams. But why would would that effect his currency with the people who make the decisions? Is there a magic number of teams that managers should talk to? I do however see the irony in his manager talking up his leadership skills and mentoring of younger players.
  7. It's a bit vague and ambiguous however it does mention picks as opposed to a pick. I just can't fathom that clubs will only get one pick. Another example could be that a club loses 1 A grader and another loses 3 A graders but they both only get 1 first round pick.
  8. I keep hearing this mentioned but it doesn't make sense to me. It would mean that a team could theoretically lose 10 A grade free agents and only get 1 pick back. Can anyone point to an article with more info on this?
  9. School's back next week. That might help.
  10. Yeah I think it was an interview with Josh Mahoney a month or two ago, should be on the MFC site somewhere. Said something like that he didn't miss training, wasn't interested in playing, something like that. He was in Melbourne at the time for some sort of mentoring/school thing. Edit: Found the video.
  11. "We are on a straight line and we will not deviate . . . if you don't want to be on that straight line go to Carlton, go wherever" Although maybe that's probably not the best quote to use.
  12. It's an old article so not sure if it's still valid. Veteran's rule - The Age
  13. Free agency was pushed by the players in the new CBA. It still protects the higher paid players in the team. If a player is in the top 25% earners in the club after 8 years they're a restricted free agent. Meaning that if you're going to dislodge a good player you'll need to pay overs for them. It's not perfect but it could be a lot worse.
  14. Exactly, how many times can the bigger clubs dip into FA and spend up big? It's not like Goddard left to be with a more successful club, he left for a longer and larger contract.
  15. That's an interesting story behind the song Macca. I'm sure these guys have been posted before, but they're worth another listen. Jack Jack's 60's & 70's 4.8 http://youtu.be/NbbTwDPWY_A
  16. Temper Trap are performing at half time in the GF Saturday. And they're Dees supporters. Temper Trap keen Dees supporters Jack Jack 4.7
  17. Still a work in progress, but has a good sense of irony.
  18. It's easy to take pot shots at under performing teams, that seems to be Lloyd's style. But there is more to club's performance than how much money it can throw around. Sydney in particular can be highlighted for their positive club culture. Last year the top five spenders in the football department were Collingwood, Essendon, West Coast, Carlton & Geelong. Of those teams 2 haven't even made the finals this year, only one into the preliminary final and none have managed to make the grand final.
  19. A bit of deja vu for the crows.
  20. I'm still struggling to find some decent nu-jazz. But Here's a couple of good jazz tracks I stumbled across. Jack Jack's Jazz 3.2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=opqzFBs97wA&feature=plcp
  21. I too don't understand where the dislike for Royal comes from. Is it because he's the only assistant that Neeld didn't hand pick? I won't pretend that I know how good or bad Royal is, but in his defense he hasn't had much to work with. And why is it they he get's a bad rap for a poor midfield, yet Neeld seems to escape any responsibility?
  22. Someone mentioned in the B&F thread that Neeld said all staff would be back next year. So it sounds as if Royal will be back.
  23. Richard Hinds of The Age agrees.
  24. Actually that's only if he gets delisted. I doubt GC would just delist him. Here's the more relevant info from that article.
