  1. For a start, what SWYL has posted is political - see his conspircy theories. Second, I was just illustrating how easy it is to postuate one. If you read what I wrote you will see I said I didn't believe it. Do you only complain of the intrusion of politics when you sniff politics of which you don't approve? I suspect so.
  2. True - in which case we must have sinned badly.
  3. No one here is advocating that. So why do you keep banging on about it? We all know there are silly people buying toliet paper and masks. It seems as if you are trrying to prove you are more educated than everyone else. Are you?
  4. By who?
  5. SWYL - you can bang on endlessly about how useless masks are, but have you not noticed that no one here is saying everyone should rush out and buy one. But you see a conspiracy. Who exactly is behind that? (Personally I suspect Morrison is making a big issue about Covid-19 just to drown discussion of his blatant sportsrort corruption. Actually I don't - it just has that effect coincidentally.) Stick to football - you know more about that.
  6. Perhaps you could give us a lecture on virology and show us that flu=covid 19. Symptoms may be similar but they are different. Glad you are not in charge of developing a vaccine. As for China, I doubt they'd be the only country to poo-poo someone saying the wolf may be at the door. Sounds like they initially took the same attitude as you! But their response subsequently was praised by the WHO report, though they'd be riots here if any govt tried to impose the same measures. We get carried away by toilet paper. forgot to add re your first sentence. You were caught out on your stupidity about gloves, so rather than say 'oh yeah, missed that', you suddenly are the only person on the planet who never touches his face. Tut tut.
  7. Boy that's a good conspiracy theory! Secret illuminati stocking up of gloves but deceiving the riff raff to buy masks. When I have my gloves on I must remember to not touch my face till I take them off. More impeccable logic from SWYL.
  8. best to ignore him and just hope he doesn't mean it. If he does, I may have to take up a religion which believes in hell and punishment in the afterlife. Also with his inimitable grasp of logic, he should realise it's not much point in killing off the old (unless your aim is to destroy the membership base of the MFC). It's the young who are the population problem long term.
  9. No, the 20 times figure is indeed mortality. Current flu's are around 0.1%, this seems to be 2% but this is uncertain at this stage (and cetrainly age dependednt as if the flu).
  10. I agree that the panicing is ridiculous. But it is more deadly than the flu. Numbers are still uncertain, but is seems it may be 20 times as bad.
  11. Now that wins the MFCSS award of the week.
  12. For those interested, here is WHO's report on Covid-19. China gets vigourously applauded for its actions which will disappoint those who would rather score political points than contain a new disease. It doesn't call for the cancellation of any AFL games. https://www.who.int/docs/default-source/coronaviruse/who-china-joint-mission-on-covid-19-final-report.pdf
  13. True, but I doubt if the HS is a discerning choice OD. You need to break these old habits to stay forever young.
  14. Disagree. We want the maximum probability of winning. If they happen to not be at full strength, then so be it. If we are not at full strength, I presume you would not say that gives us an even better test. It's not testing we want. It is winning, especially to get the season off to a good start. I'm happy to be tested in the GF thanks.
  15. Maybe not. But it's hard to explain how some stars get off when it suits the AFL. And the more stars you have the more you get off, so perhaps some there is some apparent leniency for some clubs.
  16. While I too like an open game, I suspect we'd have seen a much less skilful game if the winning side shared in $500 million.
  17. Even good players play worse when Under pressure
  18. ANyone know what the 50m penalty against Spargo in Q1 as for?
  19. And I suppose you great grandfather blamed Spain for the Spanish flu and expected Spainiards to live in poverty forever. (Actually the Spainsh flu is a slander on Spain since news of it was supressed in the UK USA and Germany because of wartime censorship in WWI - didn't want to affect morale in that pointless war. Spain wasn't involved and freely published info about it so they got stuck with the name.)
  20. I thought the thread title was rhetorical.
  21. While it is click bait etc, it is true that as of now you'd have to say they would be favourites to beat us. The AFL hasn't done us any favours in kicking off the season this way even if the rest of the draw looks good.
  22. I thought having double (or more) meanings was a common trick for attracting attention in titles. Is the Redemption achieved or are we working on it?
  23. Isn't Redemption as 'bad' as Back? But Grimes-Times' post shows that there are other ways of interpreting the title without even bending the dictionary defintion. I wonder how you'd be feeling as a Port supporter? More than a storm in a tea cup there I guess.
  24. True. Anyway the title is spot on if you interpret it correctly: To Hell =1964. (after all where else are Demons happy but in hell?) And Back = the years since then, not in hell. When we win the flag it will be To Hell and Back to Hell at Last.
  25. Since repeating oneself seems to be acceptable in this thread, I'll repeat that I don't think the ? is necessary. It depends on the content of the doco. As you say, no questioning the 'hell' bit, but if the doco focuses on what we are doing to try to get back, it is appropriate, though maybe "to Hell and the Road Back" would be better. There is no reason on the face of it to assume the title is an empty boast and that no other interpretation is possible. I'd agree with SWYL et al if the title was "To Hell and Back to Heaven" or used Milton's two titles, but it didn't. Anyway, a storm in a tea cup.
