  1. As has been said a million times now, his draft position is irrelevant.
  2. Please point out last week when he was not in a clinch getting the bloody ball when he should've been - ta. 8 contested possessions, just as a reminder. BTW I didn't hear anyone complaining after his first two seasons, but of course a couple of years of struggling and suddenly he's always been hopeless.
  3. A more likely outcome is that it'll send a handful of Demonland members in to an absolute fit and they'll use it as a reason to pot the club, complain about us not doing our homework, tell us all about what's gone wrong for the last 40-whatever years, then start abusing other members of the forum when they are made to look stupid.
  4. HG has said who his brother is before. If his claim of relationship is true then that's all the more reason he should keep his opinion of the coach to himself; I doubt Neeld would be too impressed if he found out that a member of his leadership group is telling his big brother that Neeld loves the sound of his own voice. Then again, maybe he's got bigger problems. Edit: even though I know the answer, I still can't get daisycutter's cryptic hint
  5. An inefficient disposal doesn't equal a turnover (see this good thread on BigFooty). A 52% disposal rate isn't great, but it doesn't mean half Morton's disposals are clangers, it just means only half his disposals are of direct benefit to the team. Given the way our team has been playing I'd be surprised if many of our players' disposal efficiency was any better than that. Edit 1: Just looking at the stats: Daniel Cross had 28 possessions, 7 of which were clangers (i.e blatant unforced errors) which is 25% of his disposals, but has a DE of 82%. Figure that one out. Other players in the same vicinity as Morton for disposal efficiency were other hacks such as Nathan Jones (55%), Brent Moloney (53%), Adam Cooney (58%) and Matthew Boyd (58%). Edit 2: Morton also had 8 contested possessions, so the stats also refute your assertion that his possessions were "cheap". Furthermore, I disagree with your implication that there is in fact anything wrong with winning "easy" ball - uncontested possessions (as a result of run and spread) is something we severely lack. I'd love it if Cale (and indeed everyone) could get a few more "cheap" possessions; they might lead to some more goals on the bloody score board. Don't you just love statistics?
  6. You were so close to pun perfection then. If you'd said "Money For Nothing if we want our picks for free", I'd have scored it a 10/10,
  7. Imagine Todd making the call not to take Jack with pick three. Or more to the point, being put in that position by the club. Messy. Fortunately it doesn't matter, because there's no way known we'll renege on our commitment to take Viney the younger if we ever want to be seen as a club to do business with ever again.
  8. As nutbean said - HG's post was deliberately provocative so it was asking for a snide response. People will respond at the same level as the post they're responding to; a mindless, derogatory post will get a mindless, derogatory response. It's like poking at a bear in a cage then wondering why it tried to tear your arm off. If you post in a rational, sensible manner then mostly you'll be treated in kind - and you'll get a lot more sympathy from the mods if someone does happen to fly off the handle at you (those who bring it on themselves get none). Have a look in the Viney thread at the discussion between Jose, 1858, old55 et al for how productive a disagreement can be when all involved behave like adults.
  9. Conversation of changes has moved over to the Preview thread: http://demonland.com/forums/index.php?/topic/30036-match-preview-team-selection-round-5/
  10. There would be a touch of irony if Jamar moved on to Collingwood and pushed Splinters Jolly out of the side.
  11. What are you on about? There hasn't been a single post deleted from this thread.
  12. I must admit I got a chuckle out of "is David King ever right?". King annoys me - he's one of those people who sounds as if he knows what he's talking about, but when you listen a bit closer...
  13. Rhino was taking the Mickey.
  14. He also said "the 2 macdonalds [sic] are never to pull this jumper on again". Obviously a troll, nobody with a brain would write off Tom McDonald after a grand total of 5 games. Think his username is apt.
  15. I really doubt that Jack thinks that he's done enough. I think a more plausible explanation is that he's just plain old buggered and can't keep it up due to that. His inability to run out games very early on is well documented, and while I expect it's significantly improved thanks to solid pre-seasons, I doubt it's where it needs to be. If that's true then it comes as no surprise to me that his first halves are always better than his second halves as they have been this year. Just needs to keep working on his fitness. Give it time and he'll reach the 100% effort for 100% of the game level, I've got no doubt about that.
  16. Just on the Morton handball - does any blame go to Moloney on that? I saw someone in another thread mention that it was a fair handball in front of Moloney, but Moloney was unable to accelerate enough to reach it due to having legs of lead late in the game. This thought did occur to me at the time, but I dismissed it because I thought I was probably giving Morton a little too much benefit of the doubt, but I'm interested to hear others thoughts on it.
  17. Can you do it running at full tilt? What about running at full tilt, when you've already been running full tilt on and off for an hour?
  18. Out: Macdonald, Dunn In: Grimes, Sylvia Pretty simple explanation: two automatic 22 players in, and our worst two players on the day out. I can't see us bringing in mass change this week. Tom Mc had a game to forget, but I think we need to persist at this stage.
  19. Uhh. Do they practice skills at training? Yes, I'm pretty sure they kick and handball quite a lot at training. What else would they do?!
  20. I watched on TV and wasn't there, so perhaps someone who was there can clarify something for me. If Dunn did such a brilliant job on Murphy, how come every time the camera panned to him he'd be jumper punching #22 (Addison, I think?)? I assumed that was his bloke. Where he was taken in the draft is completely irrelevant to how he played yesterday.
  21. If you mean my post in the Barry thread, I was taking the piss out of you. This was a crazy idea last time you suggested it and it still is.
  22. He contested. It's all we ask for. Well, I. Chook backed him hard this week and I reckon he was right. I'm no psychologist, but I think it's apparent that Cale's biggest issues are confidence based. He needs backing from the coach, being in and out of the side will sink him. Definitely put the right foot forward today. Good game. I facepalmed when he missed that hand pass though. I thought "I bet that's all the gang on Demonland saw him do for the whole game" and, well, I didn't get much of a surprise when I read the match day thread.
