The first 15 minutes of the third quarter was a disgrace. That and an appalling Viney error at the end were why we lost by a very narrow margin. We were clearly on top early, particularly in the first quarter. -

What for? The first half wasn't that bad. -
You're an idiot.

Not sure whether to laugh or cry. So I choose drink. -

I hate to pick on a player who gets enough bashing, but it's almost to the point now where I'd prefer Matt Jones didn't try and tackle at all. -

See guys? Told you the first half wasn't bad. *This* is bad. -

For the first half of each quarter our midfield was well on top, but we couldn't capitalize. For some reason our last movement forward is always poor. For the rest of the game it's just been well contested. At no stage have the opposition been on top and that is reflected on the scoreboard. -

Said to myself when I logged on: "I thought that was below expectation but not that bad. I bet I log on to find slashed wrists everywhere." -
They must have just forgotten he was there if they haven't dropped him after 65 consecutive poor games.

This is the argument I've been putting forward ever since people started pushing the Tassie barrow. As a Tasmanian, I wouldn't barrack for the Tassie team: I'm a rusted on MFC supporter. I don't know many other rusted on MFC supporters but I know a truckload of rusted on Hawthorn, North and Collingwood supporters and I can't see them changing allegiances either. Even if they did, it's at the expense of the existing clubs supporter base. I can't see the point.

Agreed. Escalating debt - even if it's extreme - does not equate to going broke. You can be in the most debt you've ever been in and also be in the best financial position you've ever been in. Not saying that's the case here as I don't know if it is, but you can't just assume that because there is a lot of debt, the AFL is in trouble.

Is this a real question? The guy is 20.

Amazed anyone is even contemplating the possibility of a loss. I know we're Melbourne, but... We'll win, comfortably, and learn little in the process. -
It wasn't "one good season", either, it was at least three solid seasons in a row before one poor one, but of course that doesn't suit your argument. At least you were closer to the mark than "one good season four years ago" which was just an outright lie. I'm not suggesting that past form equals automatic selection, I'm saying it's an indicator of where he could get back to. I'm clearly in the minority, but I back him to get there and I think he will. He wasn't far off on the weekend - there was certainly a step change in his performance from the previous week. I had a conversation with a colleague at work recently about how footy fans are always ridiculously biased towards the most recent season and forget everything else. There's no better an example of that than this discussion I reckon.

I reckon the opposite RM. Hogan needs all the opportunities he can get to blow out the cobwebs. I expect our best available/closest to round 1 side to be on the park. -
Who would we consider our "chief" midfield to be? Jones, Tyson, Viney (,Jamar)?
-
He had an excellent season two years ago. Apparently one poor season is enough to dismiss the bloke for good.

Not at all. I thought it was interesting and it's something that is hard to get a good picture of, but jokingly suggested you should do it all the time in recognition that it must have been a chore to produce.
-
I hereby appoint you to do this analysis of every quarter, every week. Ta.

Honestly, if this truly was an honest mistake, he must be a complete dimwit. The clubs all have doctors on the payroll for a reason. If you have pain, see him and he'll prescribe something you are allowed to take, and you won't even have to pay for the consultation unlike we mere mortals. Just taking something without clearing it first is asking for trouble.

Take a bow MFC; the recruitment of Frost was a master-stroke.
Nasher replied to Jesse Christ's topic in Melbourne Demons
Mate, I'm sorry, but most people open threads because they want to discuss the topic in the title. I have deleted posts I have personally found funny many a time, when they don't have a place on the site. I'm not being the humour police, I'm being the needlessly and intentionally off-topic police. I'm sure if WJ and Demonland think I'm too heavy handed, they'll bring it up with me. -
