  1. Name one single poster who wrote Harmes off after one or two games.
  2. Bernie. That patch of form was white hot. Best form I've seen at the MFC since Woewodin in 2000. Jones and McDonald to round out the top 3. Viney to make a late charge to finish top 5, but will prove to have missed too many games to challenge the others. Viney has been our most consistent performer this year IMO. Didn't have the real form slump that the top 3 had, at least not that I can recall.
  3. It's not really an option though. We rolled the dice against a team with a poor ruck division and won - I'd hate to see us try this against a side with even one decent ruckman. I loved Dunn's competing as a forward. The goal was a ripper, but the margin for error for those sort of shots is very narrow, you only need to look at the result of his second shot. Unlike a shot from near the goals, from that distance the kick only needs to be slightly off perfect and it will miss. At the end of the day, it's low percentage play and not one I'd be relying on. It was a good once-off moves based on needs on the day, but he's still a defender I reckon.
  4. It was bizarre fixturing for sure. It's almost as if the AFL were trying to set a record for the lowest attendance ever. The only thing they could have done to make it worse was schedule it in the 4pm slot (but they slugged the equally irrelevant Pies and Bombers game with that one :D).
  5. The Geelong win, just purely because of the unexpectedness of it. Couldn't believe what I was seeing. The win against the Pies was good too, after embarrassing ourselves the week before. The Demonland Hyperbole Machine was in full swing in the leadup and wrists were slashed left right and centre. I thought it was almost a given that we would win after that. The early season wins against Gold Coast and Richmond feel like they were a decade ago now. It's amazing how your memory of a season dims, especially when you ride the rollercoaster of despair to elation on a weekly basis as we do.
  6. I don't even care if North win it - not that they will because they're too far off the good sides. I'm just tired of the groundhog day style watching the same teams winning over and over again. Would love to see the Bulldogs pull one out of their backsides. Not going to happen though. Think I'll have to settle for a Freo flag.
  7. Don't care who wins, as long as it isn't Hawthorn again.
  8. I prefer the explanation that they were just horse poo, myself. I don't want to give Bummers fans another excuse to be sanctimonious turds ("we were a lot better than we showed, we just wanted the picks...") It's pretty funny that Collingwood vs Essendon got banished to the 4pm Sunday timeslot though, in the round where the AFL can schedule the games when and where they want. It's a rare treat to have both clubs fade in to irrelevance together in the same season.
  9. Jones will be the only one of those four on the list next year, and even then I'm not totally convinced. Terlich's contract will surely go in the incinerator, and Bail and McKenzie are out of contract.
  10. Yep - there was a moment when a GWS player (do they have names?) kicked a goal from nowhere, and all that could be heard was the sound of crickets, and the weak groan of the gears in Derwayne's brain trying to work out what had happened. It was eerie seeing GWS players tussling each others hair with no crowd noise. We also sounded very vocal on TV.
  11. Brayshaw would have played 22 games too if Roos hadn't sabotaged it by leaving him out last week (jokes). Tremendous effort for a first year player who isn't fully developed physically.
  12. OOC. Suspect it'll be a "let's see what our list looks like after the trade period" case. He'll either be the last signed or the last delisted. Feel for the guy - assuming he hasn't already been told his fortune, he'll have a nervous few weeks ahead. Being right on the fringe would be the worst.
  13. Well done to Cross, Dunn, McDonald T, Howe, Garlett and of course the ever durable skipper, Jones N for playing every game of the year. Hopefully next year it's a 23 or more games club.
  14. Great moment ht. Liam will love Max forever now I suspect.
  15. No doubt it's embarrassing, but it doesn't help when we're playing against a team nobody gives a rats about.
  16. Correct - Christian Salem is that player.
  17. Bail is not contracted for 2016.
  18. Absolutely. Him and Bernie seem to be a pair. Both went in to a stretch of horrid form together and busted out of it together in emphatic fashion in the last game. They're both so important to our fortunes.
  19. Feels a bit weird putting Viney in the "kids" list doesn't it? It feels like he's been forever - I find it easy to forget he's only a pup still.
  20. 6. Viney 5. Jones 4. Vince 3. Hogan 2. Harmes 1. Gawn Very hard to vote. Would have loved to find some love for Brayshaw, Garlett and Cross in particular.
  21. He's the elite distributor we need off half back. Stretch et al need to develop in to our class outside mids.
  22. We also settled above St. Kilda on the ladder too. Considering the amount of excessive praise they had in the back half of the season, this gives me some satisfaction.
  23. You're right, but it's not the first thing that sprang to mind for me when describing Harmes today.
  24. I get the impression you thoughts Harmes' game was okay TSKFA?
  25. Not sure what happened to the site there. Seems the lights were on but nobody was home. I thought the tone was set early by the youngsters - Harmes, Brayshaw and Viney in particular in the first half. The senior players stepped up in the latter half lead by Jones and Vince. Nice to finish the season off strongly. Wasn't the perfect game in terms of ball use, but the effort was definitely there. Loved the interview with Crossy. He was clearly on another planet, but it was great to see him able to be chaired off like he deserved. In a strange kind of way it seemed a fitting way to end his career - getting smashed in a desperate attempt to win a contest.
