True, which I do, I may just have to bring my own food and drinks. heading along to the GWS game with my (he will be) 6 month old for his first taste of it.

Introducing the kids to the Melbourne Football Club is one of life's great pleasures!

My eldest lad just turned 7 in January and has been a member for all 7 years... He lives and breathes his beloved Demons and it makes me so proud considering we live in the $hithole that is Adelaide!

Enjoy it.... And hopefully our children enjoy more success than their poor old parents! :)

I think they also have a similair size and body shape too. Both explosive off the mark and very strong in the body. Big backsides..  Everyone has Petracca pegged as a midfielder but I feel hes going to be an enigmatic  superstar forward much like Jaka.

Can anyone say ''Modern Day Gary Ablett Snr'' in the making?

  3. Like most, I am genuinely optimistic between January and April when it comes to our beloved Demons.

I don't believe we will make finals this year, of course I hope like hell that the club proves me wrong, but I just can't see too many of the other teams above us slipping.

I just want to see 2 of the younger bunch (18-24) have huge breakout years.  For instance, I want the footy world to be talking about Melbourne as a legitimate threat from 2017 onwards.

So, basically, this is what I want to see....

    • 100% competitive in ALL games
    • 8-11 wins
    • Last year's "break out" players to continue upward trend
    • 2 youngsters to blow the competition away to the point where there is some actual HYPE around our 2017 season (which in turn helps trade prospects)
    • A MFC player to finish Top 5 in the Brownlow
    • A few big signatures on locked in by August

If the above happens then it's tissues and lube all round in this household!

  4. I cannot wait to jump in the ute with my 7yr old little demon... Both of us wearing red 'n blue... Driving out to Elizabeth to watch us play Port!

Nothing better than being surrounded by the filth and stench of the lower class

Regardless of how we play, the smile on my Son's face will be worth the extra money I pay for water that evening for the extended shower time to remove the putridity!

    Bring it on!

13 seconds. hope it was worth the wait!

Watching from 11am right through until the final knockout was a helluva lot longer than 13 seconds.... But the result was well worth the wait!

"The female involved did far more to provoke the situation then the media reported, much more."

The problem with your post is that it's all chinese Japanese whispers and not a direct quote from anyone present. Where the owners present, or did they get a version of events from staff? The statement above reeks of the owners/staff trying apportion the blame, when they were actually part of the problem.

    Fixed :)

  7. I heard from a mate that he is "Toe-tally killing it at training!"

But unfortunately his car broke down on Friday and he needed a Toe-Truck :)

Also.... He can't eat dairy because he has been recently diagnosed as Lac-toes intolerant

The only thing the owners should be concerend about is their liquor license rather than trying to character assassinate the woman who had the guts to speak up to an obnoxious drunk. The bar management were clearly gutless for continuing to serve Martin.

I still don't understand how he was so "drunk" after drinking water all day?!?!

  9. If the AFL don't give a penalty that is harsh enough then I am sorry to say they are no better than a certain organisation who were covering up certain problems by sending them to my primary school

Everyone knows what he is.... Just deal with it properly and reap the benefits of being known as a decent organisation!

For the first time in years it's clear to see that the club heading in the right direction, both on the field and off -and it's so great to see! I cannot wait for it all to click at once - to be tough and entertaining, feared and successful - Go Demons!!!!

    This makes me aroused!

Re: Freo ....I know they're still a genuine chance in 2016. But I get the gut feeling they may have missed their chance. Their question marks are mounting and by that I mean - Pavlich? Sandilands? Bennell? Lyon?

I should've probably clarified my earlier comment....

When I said there are only 2 teams IMHO that will win a flag before us

Hawthorn (Almost certain to win 1 of the next two)

Fremantle (Only if the unspeakable happens )

If the unspeakable does not happen... Which we all hope doesn't... and we can keep this core group together, we are a huge shot in a few years!

the size of this crowd has nothing to do with how good the card was. Melbourne fans would have turned up no matter what.

and this "Seeing Ronda, Jedrzejczyk, Mark Hunt, Robert Whittaker and the like is a big deal and should not be scoffed at." well yeah actually i do scoff at that for a first time event in the sporting capital of the world.

i went to 110 in Sydney and saw Nogueira, Velasquez, Bisping, Wanderlei Silva. I went to 127 and saw Bj Penn, John Fitch, Pearson, Gustafsson. Fx2 i saw Alves, Kampmann, Benavitez, mighty mouse. i went to 156 in Vegas, Edgar, Aldo, Evans, Overeem, Woodley. even fight night 33 in Brissy i got to see Shogun!

We got Roudy and not much else IMO.

As soon as this card lost Condit and Lawler, it lost my interest. that doesn't mean it's not a success.

I agree with the Condit and Lawler loss.... That was massive!  I was looking forward to that, big time!

At least you were there to see Ryan Bader knock Keith Jardine out at 110.... Epic!

I will agree to disagree in regards to the card at 193 as I am a huge fan of Jedrzejczyk and having her there tipped the card in my favour :)

Regardless of any previous cards, this weekend is going to be one for the ages.... Cannot wait!

Didn't post here as I didn't attend the UFC in my own backyard as i thought the card was utter rubbish. Cannot believe that is the best the UFC could give the sporting capital of the world for its first event. I can only assume they thought they would pull a crowd no matter who was on the card. UFC is an awesome spectacle live, but this substandard card turned out to be just that in my opinion. Having said that I would have loved to have seen Roudy get smashed! And I need to mention Whittaker who had a big win.

Compare this card to the next one, which is off its head!!!

    You cannot be serious?

I have never posted in this thread, purely on the basis that I only come here to talk footy, but UFC 193 in Melbourne was a huge event in the MMA world!

Ronda Rousey v Holly Holm was a fight that, to steal a phrase from another high profile American hero, "Millions.....and MILLIONS" of people were waiting for.

Smashing the all time attendance record, previously held by UFC 129.

The gate takings sit 4th in UFC history behind (Obviously ticket prices higher at these others)

    1. UFC 129 - GSP v Shields in GSP's home country (Canada) at the height of his fame
    2. UFC 189 - McGregor v Mendez (The former being the biggest drawcard on the roster)
    3. UFC 148 - Silva v Sonnen II (After Chael nearly defeated Silva in the first fight and a hype for this fight like few in fight history)

For Melbourne, Australia to achieve this is phenomenal in the scheme of things!

The card was huge if you are a true fighting fan and the fact that UFC 193 smashed the Commercial Purchases record (i.e.. Bars, Clubs, and other venues) previously held by Lesnar v Velasquez back at UFC 121, is a testament to the Melbourne sporting lovers.

The next card to hit Melbourne (albeit probably not at Etihad as it was a poor choice) will no doubt be another huge card as the UFC are aware that the attendance will be there.

You cannot compare UFC 193 with what we are about to witness next Sunday at UFC 194. It is apples and oranges!

Seeing Ronda, Jedrzejczyk, Mark Hunt, Robert Whittaker and the like is a big deal and should not be scoffed at.

But.... Conor McGregor v Jose Aldo and Chris Weidman v Luke Rockhold is, as you said, "Off it's head" and will smash the records out of the park in regards to PPV numbers, but they are hardly going to bring that fight to Melbourne when if to be held overseas it should've rightfully been in Dublin, Ireland...

Regardless, grab some mates, drink some beers and watch one of the biggest fight events the world has ever seen next Sunday 13th December

  15. Our membership packs arrived in Adelaide this week.

My son (Currently 6 - 7 in Jan) is stoked to always get his membership card before he turns the same age as amount of years (7yr member - currently 6yrs old)

I have a good feeling about hitting 50,000 members by 2018.

Just need the club to manage contracts correctly over the next couple of years and we are well on the way to success

December Positivity as always, but this time it FEELS REAL!!

  16. As a member who moved interstate 7 years ago, this sort of stuff really tugs at the "return home" strings!

My 7 year old lad is even more passionate than myself when it comes to our beloved Dees and if it wasn't for us both also being local Norwood members, I don't know how much longer I could resist the urge...

Great work by the club and hopefully plenty of folk get down and cheer the lads on...

Note - At least we get to go to a pre-season game at Elizabeth Oval :)

I have asked Santa for a bullet proof vest and first aid kit for Christmas!

  17. I am not 100% positive we will give the 8 a nudge next year...

Not for lack of improvement, but purely due to other teams around the fringe... 2017 for sure...

I will say that I would not hesitate to throw a Multi, combined with another few more 'certain' winners across the year (not only AFL)

This would create the value you would expect of us making the 8, with all the lead up and excitement of a larger outlay on a single bet.

    Hoping I've made sense
