  1. Its not surprising that after giving their first round draft pick to MFC for Jolly, Sydney played him as second fiddle off the bench behind the underrated 34yo Jason Ball. OK Jolly has Flag medal. He watched the last crucial 15 minutes from the sidelines where a 34yo played first ruck and Jolly did a Motlop and got a gratuitous medal. Last year Ball was gone, Jolly and a clone, Doyle shared the ruckwork and Sydney got exposed a dished out another first round draft pick for another 34 yo ruckman.

Thats two coaches who have worked out something interesting about Jolly......Hmmm!

Sydney gave a second rounder for Spider, but that's not very relevant.

I was happy with the Jolly trade and am not knocking it.

I am knocking ND for not throwing the gauntlet to him and giving him a lot more game time or even first ruck in 2003. A season that White was carrying an injury that could have ended his career.

Why not rest him and try get it right and challenge his back up?

It's probably a good thing he didn't as Jolly would have been exposed and we may not have got a first round pick, but regardless it was poor coaching and helped lead to Jolly getting disillusioned.

  2. He was injured, which is why he didn't get a game.

How is that poor coaching? Did you expect Daniher to play him with an injured foot just so we can keep the super-star that is Jolly in the red & blue?

FFS people, get your stories straight before you get stuck into the footy department.

I'm talking about when he played, isn't hard to work out from the coaching comment.

Why wasn't he developed in 2003 instead of him warming the bench while our ruckman risked his career playing on one leg. Our season was in the dumps yet we continued to play White and gave Jolly little developement.

    That is bad coaching.

As to the other trade, nice try at a diversion.

  3. Actually, Jolly got traded because he wasn't given regular game time, it became even worse when we gave up pick 20 for Ben Holland. Any chance Jolly had of breaking into the team was lost and he rightfully realised he had to go to another club to play more games. He now has a premiership to his name....which kind of reminds me of Steven Armstrong.....

In reality it was our decision that he wanted to leave.

Mate, anyone ever call you a corkscrew, as that's a bit of a way to twist what happened.

It was poor coaching that he asked to leave.

  4. Yup I was one of the lucky 16,000 to show up last week were you? So we should get rid of him should we?

No I didn't go on Saturday, but it would help if I was in Australia.

I don't think we should get rid of Jamar, he has a role to play in our team but I do find it hilarious that anyone woould label him as great.

    Get real.

  5. Are you serious? Not only is Jamar a great ruck man he can also be a great full forward player. Jolly was dropped for the right reasons. Jamar is far harder at the ball and a more solid option.

Jolly was traded not cos we wanted too but he was going to leave and we'd have got nothing.

    Jamar a great ruckman?? :lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

Jamar can be a great full forward player??:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

Have you seen any Melbourne games?

  6. We got fined $7,500 for the runner getting in the way of Sandilands on Sunday, no explanation or a 'please explain' given either. We've obviously asked why the fine is so heavy, when Braun only got a $5,000 fine for swearing. (My 2 cents worth: What a friggin disgrace, $7,500 for a silly runner mistake. Gees! )

I've no problem with the runner being fined, he interferred with play. That said he ws blindsided and didn't mean it.

If the runner cops a 7 grand fine, then surely the umpire should too. His mistake was worse than the runners, he had a clear view of the incident and was negligent in not paying a free to Freo. If not the umpire, then the AFL, as his employer, should be fined

If the runner, by being negligent in his duties get fined 7 grand then surely the umpire, who was even more megligent in his duties should have to cough up the same amount.

  7. I find it astonishing that multiple trates on THE SAME TOPIC are made. Post in "Get it done" or "get behind our boys". Haha and ur post is hallarious

It is good, gave me a laugh

Thought the good things come to those that wait line was the best :lol::lol:

Gee we love the red and blue so we should all shut up and accept mediocrity. We'll all wait patiently and sip on our tea and say "Jolly well done old chaps" through thick and thin.

Wipe the brown off your nose, smell the air and notice there's something that stinks a bit at the moment. It ain't what your saying BTW, it's how we're playing which has a lot to do with the coaching.

  8. Well I'm a moderator and I sometimes get logged out while posting and reading... so there you have it, we're all suffering here! :P

The way to solve this, is when you log in, make sure that the box 'remember me' is ticked. This way you will remain logged on (you can still log off whenever you want by clicking the 'log off' button at the top of the screen).

I do that Jaded, verytime I have to log back in....

it doesn't happen often mind you and doesn't really bother me.

  9. I have been on this forum for about 18 months. This year I have to go through the annoying routine of entering my username and password when I haven't made a contribution to the forum for a few days. This was not a problem last season. What has changed?

Has been happening here too Bobby

  10. I put this question forward

Has Brad Green played more good games than he has bad?

Has he played enough good games to warrant being a vice-captain, and possible captain this week?

    I think no.

This year he is 0 and 2. And there is no way he has played over 75 (captains) games.

    I put this proposition forward.

Maybe we should replace Green with Nick Sautner.:lol::lol::lol::lol:

  11. Clint Bartram - He was injured in round 22. His new injury is his knee, not his ankle. Don't know much about it, but for the long term I'm not concerned about him as it's not a reco.

Matthew Bate - My concern with Bate are the footsteps. This is not acceptable and must be eradicated.

Daniel Bell - Was one of our better players from what I saw yesterday. He wasn't on Williams for the whole game. Am not concerned, think he has a bright future in the red and blue.

Clint Bizzell - Should have never got 3 years, held the club to ransom and we folded. Poor list management.

Nathan Brown - Has been a good servant of the club, good luck next year. Like Bizz, on the list for one too many years, should have had more picks in the 'superdraft'.

Cameron Bruce - You're right, he can't do everything, he can't bloody well kick!

Simon Buckley - Apparently.... I'll wait and make my own call. I've liked what little I saw of him.

Nathan Carroll - As I said elsewhere, not the best FB going around, but better than many.

Aaron Davey - A worry, I'm backing him to come out of the slump again soon and everyone here will be blowing wind up his rear end in no time.

Ryan Ferguson - Club seems to have no faith in him, so why is he still listed.

James Frawley - Like you said, exciting prospect.

    Garland, ain't seen.

Simon Godfrey - I'd take him over some of the pea hearts that don't put in.

Brad Green - I was happy with his efforts last year and am expecting vast and quick improvement from him.

Ben Holland - I like him, but another with a year too many. He'll have a role to play at times in the year and hopefully he'll do it well.

Mark Jamar - Sceptical. It's a furphy to say we lost Jolly (who's ordinary) to keep Jolly.

Chris Johnson - I've heard a lot of good things, only seen a few. He needs to step up a bit more.

Paul Johnson - I think you are wrong, I hope I am.

Travis Johnstone - Has been coasting since he won the Bluey. Has never been very consistent for us and prevents him from being a real top line player.

Nathan Jones - Him and Brock working together in the future. I salivate at the thought.

James Mcdonald - He's always been a very good player for us, just few saw and credited him with it.

Brock Mclean - if only his body can hold together.

Brad Miller - I still hold out hope. Until someone shows they play it better, CHF for me. Must get more consistency.

Brent Moloney - On the road back and boy, we really need him.

David Neitz - Will miss him. He'll be back and hopefully finish his career with no more injuries. Would be glad if his around next year.

    Ricky Petterd - see garland.

Byron Pickett - Recruited as an impact player and he will have an impact many times yet.

Jared Rivers - Excellent player, we must keep him.

Russell Robertson - not as inconsistent as you say, played injured last year when club should have rested him for first 10 or so weeks. Not his fault, they chose to take that course. Just wish he'd keep his feet in contests more.

Colin Sylvia - Could be very good, I worry about his footy smarts.

Daniel Ward - Should not be on the list this year.

Paul Wheatley - Hurt by injuries but rapidly running out of time, needs to return to his best quick smart.

    Matthew Whelan - Top player.

Jeff White - Getting older. Last contract was one year too many. Still a lot to offer.

    Yze, see White.

We are only two rounds in, while we look terrible, I'm not willing to give up on our list. We are better than we have shown, hopefully we'll prove that soon.

Time is running out for many of them, the coach being one.

  12. Dan, I agree with most of what you say.

I love Belly, his attitude and commitment. Like you say he is quick, brave and has good skills. I think not only will he be a solid player for us, he is the sort of leader we are looking for.

That said, I am not a fan of playing him in the back line, he goes OK, but I think he would be much better utilised in the midfield as a run with player in the Brad Sewell mould. That's just my opinion - put him in the game and use his assets.

I'm an unashamed fan of Bell and would also like to see him spend more time in the midfield Graz. We do see to be in the minority of opinion on this one though

  13. I don't blame Bate.

He should not have been playing. I blame the weak as water  match committee and coach for formenting a weak and unaccountable attitude.

The continual reluctance to punish any player who squibs a contest, who puts themselves before the team has shown the younger players that these acts are acceptable. Just like Yze's insipid efforts where he continued to flinch week after week and not be punished (well until this week, a year or two late), Bates effort where he neeed new underpants when he was on the wing against the saints should not have been acceptable. He should have been dragged and given a tongue lashing. Then he should have had a week at Sandy. This did not happen because the coach and his cronies accept weak half arsed efforts and have for too long. This cancer starts at the top and is now infecting younger players, if not rectified now (if not already) it will be too late, another generation of players will be soft.

Bate just does what he has learnt. He follows the example set by others and accepted (and defended) by many here.

  14. I posted this on 'ology earlier, think it's relevant here:

In the middle of last year and then again late last year I did some threads that showed the statistics of our performance through the year in third quarters and how we lost them a large majority of the games. It was a problem we had and I was highlighting because despite overcoming this weakness it worried me.

This year we have been belted in the third quarter both games. One of the commentators today mentioned how the Demons looked completely disinterested when the came out after the long break last year.

I want to know what is happening with the coach that he can't rev up his players at half time. Is his message going so stale that the more time the players spend with him the worse they get?

A harsh call, but the reason I did the analysis last year, was that despite winning more ofen than not, this really worried me.

Can someone offer any explanations as to why we have been consistently losing third quarters for over a year other than the coaches message isn't getting through (either that or the message is wrong)?

  15. Yeah, see... Naaah. If you're VERY young, you have had less opportunity to see and learn, and most important EXPERIENCE football in all it's facets. You're absolutely right that being young is no limit to your knowledge (the sharpest football theorist I know is only 22-odd, startling intellect), but when you're generalising over the space of 1000 posters, there is a correlation between age and experience.

I do see your point though, and it is well made.

Hey being young means you're not a stubborn old fool (or stubborn fool in my case) on your views about footy. My point then and now is how lucky we are with both sites, I value them both and a generalization such as mine was meant as a bit of fun.

I understand those that jump in with criticism the first chance they get, but you can count those posters on one hand and rather than get upset, realise it's a massive minority who should be ignored on this issue.

BTW I think the Jeckyl and Hyde Demons will show their alter ego and smash the Hawks this week. 8 goals to us.

  16. It needed to happen, but is the timing right????

    Pathetic timing.

Almost 2 years later than it should have first happened.

FWIW I'd have Wheats over Yze from what Yze has shown in his last half dozen games (finals and H&A)

  17. - Haven't visited demonology lately? One of the regular posters there mentioned that if the 2 sites were to have theme songs, demonland's would be Strawberry Fields by the Beatles. If you listen to it it's pretty easy to understand what this poster is referring to. The idea is that demonology knows everything, and that demonland are a bunch of deluded teenagers.

Mostly a bit of fun, but for some unnecessary. Have you not come across this in the past?

Just name him Dappa. TGR said it.

As for posters saying 'ology knows everything, what a crock (OK, barring one poster). Many of the 'ology posters don't see those here as 'deluded teenagers' and many like myself post on both sites regularly as they enjoy the differing opinions found on both sites.

I've used the terms there to sum it up and 'land have youngsters with 'blind love' and 'ology as a bunch of crusty old men with 'tough love'.

I don't think that's unfair to here (well it's not meant to be), we all know there is a diversity of opinion (as with 'ology'), but is just a vague generalisation to characterise the differences between the two.

  18. All I want to know is, do Sydney and West Coast change their tactics so dramatically depending on where they play?

I haven't read the thread yet so I apologize if the query has been answered

    The answer though is yes.

Look at last years GF and last nights game, the Eagles employed a flooding tactic more against the Swans that they have against any other team.
