  1. You'd think so huh !! why settle on any apprentices when you can have the Master !!
  2. we need to move heaven and Hell ( for which I thought we had the franchise btw !! lol ) to get an "effective" ruck !! if that means going camping for the next three weeks to secure one of the two young gun rucks than so be it !! All this talk about midf ileders is irrelevant if we have no ruck to give them first use!! Priorites people....priorities edit: as afterthought... there's hardly anyone left to play anyway!!
  3. out of that lot....Id defintiely have Sheedy !!
  4. you're dead right ...and to add to that...we need the basics skills to do that. WE DONT HAVE THEM!! We constantly turn over the pill We cant ruck to advantage We cant kick for [censored]. We hospital handpass We make very poor decisions about to whom and under what circumstances the bal wil be forwarded. Needless kicks to unbalanced contestes etc etc etc.. Not just based on last nights game... much can be 'described' as simply being tired last night. What is wrong with Melbourne ? We play a [censored] brand of footy....... its as simple as that!! The incoming coach will need to start from scratch. Keep it simple as alluded in above post. Once we get that under control we can start building an 'effective' set of game plans and techniques.
  5. He certainly wasnt alone tonight... I didnt think we were going to start "kick to kick' til rnd 22 !!
  6. I think Rhino called this one right. Dutchy is nowhere near the start of the queue for "DCM's " All things being equal he ought to get another year's contract...and deservedly so.
  7. http://realfooty.com.au/news/news/connolly...6857682138.html further to Boosville moving's and shakin's.. Connolly in mix for a "role" cant say id be disappointed if he went there.
  8. pointless having the Rat amongst choice...he's pulled out.
  9. they wil miss Fraser...damn shame !!!
  10. exactly..until the end of season..not beyond.
  11. http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/story/0,2...8-11088,00.html 'BRETT Ratten's preference to win the Carlton coaching job was made clear yesterday when he deferred an interview with Melbourne ..." I think we may asume the writing is on the wall there!!! On an aside. I think it was during the Doggies broadcast that whilst interviewing Harris he made , to me, an intersting comment. Almost a throw away. He said "they would announce the coaching position at the end of the season, hopefully in time for the new coach to have input to the trading, drafting ".... Now to me the only reason you would hold off announcing immediately come seasons end wouild be possibly if the incumbent was still coaching at the highest level! That's curious to me as it almost rules out the contingent of assistants. I mean big deal if people know where they are going if finals still on. But you might hold off if it was the SENIOR coach. Not too many fill that criteria. Williams ( Sandy ) and Sheedy ( Bombers ) might be about it . Just thought I'd mention that ... wondered if anyone else had thoughts? cheers
  12. I think it says bucket loads for all concerned. How refreshing in todays world to see an occasion where all parties rise above the menial and petty and treat an event for what it is with all parties savouring the moment. Kudos to all involved. It would have taken many elements of character by many people to let this event be what it is. Despite any misgivings about the bloke as a coach I always respected the man as a man. His ties and kinship with the man of the moment speak volumes. There shoud always be place set at the table of the MFC for one Neale Daniher for when ever he wants to grace us with his presence. A class act...Too few of them.
  13. he got up....whats the big deal.. !!!! by that I mean.. Aussies tougher than NFL !! love to see the video of the equaliser !!! Lol Yanks cant figure out how we ( Aussies ) can kick so well !! Still..they cant understand how we run all day either..heheh
  14. Im a little confused by that article.. His writing surrounds the idea that esentially he's the same larrikin intuitive inciteful enigma that he was 27 years ago. That he hasnt essentially changed. well that really doesnt say much to me except that he's kevin Sheedy. He remarks about the why's and wherefores of how and why he was sacked and the subsequesnt fallout and effects. the man was let go, the boad lied Sheedy does his job whilst doig the leg work for moving on. He's surely not to blame for that. If there's any fall out or crying or shaking of headdsin the Essendon changing room then to me that lies squarely back at the feet of the board. Apparently he doesnt quite go the way of many others by surrounding himslef with six zillion support staff.. For the most part it seems to have worked...especially on $ occasions !! Im still not sure what Smith was really driving at !!
  15. yep...still gladly have the man.
  16. or...in the now for something totally different.. we could put our team out there and let them worry about matching us !! lol. Still probably need Clogs down back....shame when he's on "fire" !!!
  17. Personal have no problems with Akers mouth.. or what he wrote.. i have much admiraiton for him as a player. That said it primes for serious bouquets to be thrown at Bell for his effrots. He eclipsed Aker. . Still a few questions exist for mine over Belly's decision making at times but he does seems to be getting better. His stature is growing.. Good on him.
  18. For me the ledger is still in the red in regards Byron. Much faith 9 let alone money ) has been invested. i want to sereal returns, not 'passages ' of play...good that they were, a handful of 'top' efforts does not a season make.
  19. That was a much beeter effort from the Byronator..Still some way to go to justify the money...This particular jury member is still out!!
  20. always amuses me that players seem beyond reproach !!. They're paid professionals. We are entitled to critique, especially if you're a member and as such contributed towards their keep !! The thread was entitled..Adem Yze.. so we talk about...guess what..Adem Yze...not about maybe some other players who also might deserve attention. We owe ??? No other way round...he gets paid...he owes to the payer !!
  21. I think many people will be tempted to get a little caried away from last nights win. It was a WIN, there is no doubt, but against ??. Still you make your luck etc. A few players that have been a little...umm...awol , this year returned for the event. Happy to have them back. it all goes to show how much attitude and application goes doesnt it . Some of our handpassing skills are still kindergarten. Som eof our foot passing ought to be named the "Victa" pass !!. The skills werent silky by any shake, but they were better. The thinking was better.. None of it brilliant. we can be brilliant. We still have a long way to go. The best way I can sum up that game really is that whilst no fires were blazing its good to see live embers to feed the flames of 2008 !!
  22. ok ok....who are they ....and what have they done with the real Melbourne ?? lol. A tad different wasnt it Noticed quite a few playing away form their normal field of endeavours. Must have been a dozen Robbo's, saw him all over the ground !! I definitely think they played into our hands to a large degree. Once they were rattled it wa s bit llike cow-tipping !! They like us were without a few of their guns.. and they went erratic. They lacked height. They werent able to match up well. Not sure if that was so much Riley or Rocket not having the ammunition. I wont take anything away from a great win. We were hard at the ball, played in front where posible and as someone else has mentioned somewhere else played for each other. The spirit was back :-) Dutchy you beaudy !! hehe Newton just gets better. maybe Dunn is suited to the wing.. a very inboard winger if that makes sense We arent there by a long way but it was good to see.. its good to WIN !! :-) onya Dees !!
  23. r and b rasies the clincher to all this.. the result of trade week/ drafting. Though it will undoubtedly be a recognisable Demons that take the field there is bound to be a few surprises. I think we have to be quite brazen this year at trade week and brutal in our ajudication of where some players 'are' and what they might offer going forward. Invariably you dont get anything for nothing, so in order to get a better mix, a better balance and possibly a new look we wil have to say sayonara to someone. The appointmetn of the new coach and subsequent crytal ball gazing will give more flesh to this. Ought to be interesting.. I can see some fans getting a little miffed...and others quite excited. Gotta love footy !!! lol
  24. well.. short of a time warp Adem wont be playing his 300th any time soon. I would doubt that his career will last long enough to take that accolade. Simply because hes at the business end of his career and his body aint going to cash them cheques any longer !! Thats just reality whether your a pro or disinterested observer. For me Ooze represents so much about the plight of Melbourne, 5 mins of limelight and pizaz is accompanied by 55 mins of dross and heartache. So many parallels can be drawn to the way Adem went about his work as has the club in general. The standards applied, the expectations, the failures and dissapointments. Not for one moment accusing ooz of causing the predicament but hes surely a cast member as much as anyone who's played through the ND years. The bar simply hadnt been set high enough. Work ethics were lip -service excuses too easily rolled out and mediocrity not only tolerated but by lack of punishment effectively rewarded. given we WILL have a new coach next year and can only assume that the expectations wil be written in blood and no largese taken then Ooze will not fit in, he wont be alone. Oozes best is now behind him, what he has left to offer I dont think wil be substantial enough to push aside on any permanent basis one of the new breed young guns. He might do well to broker a deal with the club and go out with head held reasonably high, before the game passes him by . I dont mean ill will towards the bloke...but my real concern is for the club going forward. Unfortunately for Adem I would suggest the person responsible for much of the scorn and criticisms leveled at him is none other than himself. We can only call them as we see them !!
  25. On song Ooze is quite mecurial. Undoubtedly talented he plays to an audience. I really cant see him taking too much of centre stage any longer. A new coach, new kids, new culture..... If Danners read the writing on the wall then Adem might do well to take a good look also. Hes a bit like having the icing without the cake. He's had his time in the sun, its as simple as that, and the icing's melted a bit too.
