That and Trengove ( heart on sleeve) has already commented to the effect he wants to be a one club player and considers Melbourne not just that home but THE place to be considering our future prospects . Keep in mind peoples. A player can't simply be press-ganged, they have to want to go.

I have a great deal of respect and admiration for Barassi. But I do find his comments somewhat strange, ambiguous and unhelpful in the present situation. In the true spirit of footy it's the ball ( in the form of comments) I play not the man. Given his personal history and understanding of what happens when a 'chosen one' abandons a club then I for one would have expected (hoped) for something more akin to openly encouraging the lad to embrace this moment in ongoing history and ride the wave of Red & Blue. Still , even the great ones can get it wrong! Apparently he's mortal after all

It certainly smacks of official disinformation straight from Big Brothers ministry of football. The AFL have a great history of sticking head in sand ( or up some dark cavity ) when theyve stuffed up. Here we go again. There's really only two ways for this to have occured. 1) the afl just didn't think it through. They underestimated the cunning of the emerging clubs to rort a system full of 'gray areas' or 2) they are effectivel in collusion and abetting gws in efforts to poach. i.e. They either didn't k ow they'd left the door open and now realizing are denying there's really a door!! Or Theyre holding it open themselves.

One would possibly think a phone call might have emanated from our CEOs office ...... "morning Andrew, who the hell is this Phelan lackey and what's that cr@p doing on your website?" Please explain. The A F L is showing it's colours; grey and orange!! Irrespective of any viewpoints that piece of sh!te ought not be on the afl site. Deplorable in the max.

So Eddie never gets it wrong ???? Tell him he's Falafelling !!!!!!!
-
It's not a whinge for the sake of it. It's a legitimate concern that we as members of the club are entitled to voice. The club is eminently aware of this and add it to their own dissatisfaction. Nothing wrong nor unwarranted by that.

The Abblet thing was very different. He'd already tasted glory in Sep . He was established at the higher echelon of the game and he had acrimony in his relationship with his coach. He it seems had a very sound reason for this. He felt betrayed and unfairly characterized. No such simillarity could be said to exist re Scully and Melbourne.

Eddie might be everywhere but he certainly isn't always right. Keep in mind he is and always will be foremost Collingwood. Hes battling heads against Sheeds. Marvin the Martian knows what he's doing. Sources whilst 'impeccable' can also get it wrong. As nothing is apparently set in concrete then it's fluid and a work in progress. Til he signs one way or another Scully is a required Melbourne player. The club just needs to emphasise it's preference for sorting out sooner rather than later. Still he's only one player. Full of talent, little realized and the whole season before us. It's either negligent of the AFL or despicably crafty for this situation to exist but exist it does. As a club there will be some tough and gut wrenching decisions to come. They will be made and I for one will think they'll be made well and as best they can. At AFL level you play for results, for finals and really when you get down to it Premierships. Scully has probably a good 12 years in him , barring injury. GWS won't come near a premiership in that time. I know a team that will !!

The jumpers are produced via a digital textile couring process that utilises dye sublimation techniques. I can only infer that it's meant the numbers( and all else , logos etc ) are printed too . So there's no generic guernsey which they could use in place.

Firstly HQ thankyou and the club for keeping us informed. We appreciate it greatly. It's commendable that the club knows what it wants and is working towards it relentlessly. Truly lamentable that NB stuffed up but let's hope all goes well for a good whiles yet Thanks again and go Dees Keep your eyes on the RED and the Blue

dont encourage the fools !!

Ridiculous ?? Brave maybe...Ridiculous no. Its an opinion, surely. Keep in mind the very nature of the game will provide step ups that arent linear in progression. Teams click. Things happen. Other teams fall off the pace and suddendly youve climbed 3-4 spots. We were rather unlucky not to make the 8 last year...but for a handful of points here and there it might have happened. The Premiers, no less , had but a point on us all seasn !! Our rise wont be , as mentioned prior, linear. It wil lbe quantum. Thats what happens in footy. But if someone wants to put themselves out there on a limb and predict....well its there perogative. No foul , no harm !

GWS are able to take pot shots left right and centre. They can run amok with sensational claims in order to unsettle all and sundry. This WILL be Sheedys idea for sure...play with the minds of the opposition as thats all they can play with. Its a bit like divide and conquer stuff. Most of the other talent so far named in GWS's sights have been a little older and quite possibly as their careers are a little more established etc they feel more comfortable within themselves to call shots and retaliate to the muck raking. Tom is young. Yes possibly far more mature than many his age but still young. I would have no doubt more than a few discussions have and will be held within the family and the club would be remiss not to take advantage of the management situation. A reality though is that we as a club do have more than a box load of talent. Talent alone is not sufficient until realised but on paper we have embarrassing riches compared to more than a couple of clubs. We wont be able to keep everyone. I still have a feeling that Tom will reverse his stance on deferring contractual negotiations and this may al be resolved sooner than later. I think the original posturiing was the idea of management.

How Excited are you by the NAB cup game tonight?
beelzebub replied to Disco Demons's topic in Melbourne Demons
Im still not particularly excited about the NAB circus but AM a bit more excited about teh season proper !!! -
well its realative values... and after tax too If for argument it costs 20-25% more to get teh same X value thenit goes that for 4.8 M youd enjoy the same in Melbourne We mighnt be able to fork out 6...but maybe 4 over 5 years etc. The difference in money becomes less enticing ??

About the only thing the AFL can bank on is there estimation of a generation chnage needing to happen. Im going to make a prediction. Young Tom will re-sign before the season proper. He has no time for distractions...just lok at the road to where he's got. He's immensely purpose driven. He strikes me as no-nonsense. yep he'll sign a lot sooner than later

I hadnt seen this post before writing something similar in the other thread.. I concur 100% as to GWS and "Roll Up Roll Up !!" well thats exactly what it is because thats exactly what might work in some ways there. Melb is not Sydney and vice versa. They attend things and go about their sport differently. It is a bit horses for courses and thats precisely why Sheeds go the gig because hes as close to a song and dance man as the AFL has. A lot of Sydney is about razamataz and pretty light and fast things etc. Lifes far more a facade ( if not charade ) for many north of our border. Neither better nor worse its what works for you. We wont really know how well the Giants will go nor how long they'll last until they do. Its a bit brave new world there. But it would have to be the absolute antithesis of probably everything young Tom has experienced to date in his life..One thing for sure he wouldnt find Blacktown nearly as inviting as Berwick !! LOL

Now I cantr really validate how accurate this is but its a possible indication Cost of living calculator For a long time now its been considered far more expensive to live comparable lifestyle in Sydney as compared Melbourne. Property mean values have inched up down here to being about 90% of Sydney's The calculator shows Syd as being about 25% more in dollar terms than Melb. Stil a bit Id say !!

Interesting to note as reported in todays Hun that Mark Kleiman ( of Velocity Sports, Scully's manager) has quit to join 3AW. Make of that what you will but possiblyb a different fellow in the position ( looking after Scully ) and in view of whats transpired might be sage to take a different tac..maybe. As always time will tell. As good as Scully is and might be he is still only one....and we have many !!!!!!!!
-
Why couldn't we be top 4 ? It's nonsense. If the team gels and fires were as good as anyone .... ANYONE !!! It's just consistency and belief. We mightn't finish top 4 but don't say we can't!!

pretty much as how I view it... 5 for me too still its a curioisity -
Yes . Eddie ought have suggested you'd tire of Martians and Seagulls !! If anything remotely football it's but a game between McGuire and Sheedy.

obviously youre challenged. Have yo any real thoughts ? Can you express them ??I can read perfectly well what 16 says. It is his opinion.. 2010 was 2010 .. to rate Jamar as being lesser value than some of those others is , to me, stupid. Given costings and bang for buck Jamar will out gun Fraser..( useless) Mumford.. not bad on day but not as polished. . Do you get that ?? Why would you even bother picking a kid who'll get smashed ? cant wait for your reply.... Im guessing i know it already

The Bureau of Melbournolgy forecast months of Sky Falling followed by torrential crying !!

theres enough other threads regarding pro cons of GWS elsewhere. This is/will degenerate into a bunfight. Can / ought be done elsewhere...no /
