now that's CRYPTIC !!!
-
I think you'll find Cloke was quietly told to pull his head in. Daisy WILL sign. Thing is Pendles has signed. So it's for a year but the Filth got on with it they're setting the agenda. Currently Tom is... There's a difference

One mighty stoush is looming !!!!

Strangely Vlads running with the notion that it's not just a case of it not being a conflict but that's it's actually IN the interest of the AFL and therefore all concerned ( after all Vlad knows best ) All hale Vlad , Vlad is good (god?) Big Brother-Vlad-Big Brother -Vlad , just can't tell them apart

Foot gun shoot

I don't understand nor advocate that anyone is beyond reproach. When therein a jumper on the ground they have my support. That goes hand in hand with expectation. This side of that white line everyone's up for scrutiny. They're not gods.

I honestly don't care whether TS stays or goes. In the big picture it won't matter. He's just one. What I do care about is our club being a Strong, Determined and well resources outfit that is not only competitive but accomplished. I would rather it laid out the path of it's success than react to others. There's a time for talk and there's a time for doing . The MFC needs to run it's race and not that of others. Collingwood , Carlton etc don't put up with crap, nor should we. It's win-win. Time to push the WIN button
-
Having written it I'm going to have to say yes . Strangely I don't often choose words by accident and this was no exception. The idea expressed by A B that in a fashion this now is win- win is one I'd agree with. Stay is good, go is good. It's all the unnecessary crap in between !!

I would have thought the Jnr issue more relevant to those ending a career, not starting one. Toms likely to have a dozen years ( barring injury) before confronting that and ever likely many different people to be involved with his egress should he still be at Melb. A non issue in this instance.

Has there ever been such a divisive issue on this forum ? If so I dont remember it. Has any topic cuased such a fine distinction between the ability to utter your real thoughts and doing so apparently cross a divide the Owners dont want you to. Is this kid really worth everything that he's mooted to be ? Hes played but a mere handful and a bit games yet many would suppose hes the be all and end alll of our future success. Melbournes aspiration will fold without Scully ?? wtf !! The funny thing about any "the latest greatest thing " is theres always another one around the corner. I have no doubt he'll be a very good player. I also have no doubt we wil have many OTHER very fine and very good players. Some we dont even know yet !! I personally and seriously wonder if he'll really be worth the huge money as offered by GWS. Hes obviously worth the 3 mill we've offered . Might the club becoming a little skittish about it al lthough when you see a trend in injuries arising ? Could be a passing thing... could be recurring. Suddenly a littel ( or big ) Question Mark arises. ( does for me) Is Scully's real value to this club now the currency with which we can acquire other very good talent off of the back of compensation especially at a time when stocks are to quite good and access to pick them low ? Does the club really need this sort of crap ? What impediment exists to his signing if indeed he actually wants to remain at Melbourne ? Im only an outsider but I cant see any. This flies in the face of his stated ideal of the "anticpation" that hed be a one club player. Easy to do Tom.. sign. Then everyone can get on with things. He assures us that he knows of no approach or offers prior to the 'public' one now of GWS. He also suggests he doesnt know the contents of this offer. I simply find that incredulous and an insult to intelligence. But hey, he says so , so it must be true. Theres a lot of body language that some could see as a total lack of involvement or committment or it could be his "professional" aloofness. Im a bit like Ron B and want players ( once theyve signed on ) to bleed for the jumper, to make it theres and be proud to do so. Much is made of the weight of decision upon young Tom. Similar weights have been on more than a handful of similarly postion draftees and whilst the dollar amount might not be quite the same for some the important relatively to their careers is exactly the same. Theyve seemed quite able and happy to make their course known. Like RR over I beleive something is very very wrong about all this. Not much adds up. I now like some others firmly beleive that if the lad cant make a committment now then maybe the best thing for all parties is to move himon , allow his career to follow its course but elsewhere, for our great club to determine its future and to recruit others more desirious of wearing the red and blue especially as we enter our renaissance. If its not appealling for him to come on board now...when ? I applaud your talent Tom, I wish you well.. but sign or tell us whats really going on. Its not that hard...Its not !!

I'm just starting to wonder how much a kid with dodgy knees might really be worth. As to Rhinos assertion that not much has changed in 5 months that's seems contrary to the reality. We've got the club wanting to finalize all this . Even got Styges suspicious of all goings on, also GWE have gone public with the offer that seemed to have been doing the rounds in hushed circles for ages . We've got the A F L showing it's real collies on the matter. There's the arguments for varying compensations and the absolute polarizing of fans left right and centre. No, not much at all

couldnt care about the chain pulling...its the idea itself...its interesting
-
AFL ought to pay Not sure if anyones noted this article yet . An interesting idea though cant see it happening but hes actually got a point !~!
-
The AFL deliberately left the situation such that the kids were open slather. Theyve been instituting a methodology whereby GWS and GC can stack their lists by hook or by crook. Thats heavy handiness 101

Ready Made VFL players Id certainly love to see Mohr get a gig in the Red and Blue. Reckon he and Chip could tear teams a new one. ( could we just sneak him in...no one's looking !! ) anytakers ? any other likely lads ?
-
hmm..theres what Id like to happen...and theres whats likely to happen. I really havent seen us able to play 'our; game agaisnt any teams that really apply front 50 pressure. Were just not there yet. I cant see us getting over anyone this coming month. I stil lexpect Russian and Beamer to put 110% in. Im reluctant to commit to anyone else for the simple reason they havent comitted to games where its really mattered. There has been efforts by many but not full and complete games by the many. Some might say we're the walkabout Demons at times. Id be rapt to see some others really stand up. Id ben neven more so for Bailey and Co to DEMAND they do. . Its all in or nothing...win or lose.
-
How would we describe it...its gone up a notch or two hasnt it ! The other differeing aspect is right now you have the absolute heavy handedness of the AFL in its determination to lift two teams of the dirt in new climes. Here we have a nuiscance meddling aspect that wasnt there before. Its VERY different now.
-
who's ? Scully,, Would be October ( dont all newby 2year contracts finish then ? ) . But nothing stops him signing a new one ( now) to supplant the exisitng as both parties would be agreaable.

I live with a Collingwood forum.. lol ( whole of wifes bloody family are filth)and my best man..and a groomsman.. ( ffs) and you do actually get some interesting innsights as do I sare say it.. Many of them actually know their footy. and ftr....they certainly dont tow anyones line.. Not Eddies..not Micks etc.. They certainly find teh Melb/Scully thing intriguing. They're filthy ( pi ) that the AFL's set this up as a possibility. ( and knowingly ) They do raise the interestin gpoint that at Geelong Abllett had given much and achieved the big prize of a Premiership (s) . Daisy has too. They take time to note its diiferent with Scully. Just passing that on.

god..who could afford a Sherrin as a kid..lol LyrebIrd if you were lucky.. A Ross Faulkner if all your Christmasses came at once. Many a placky ball in the school yard. Maybe some of todays ought to train with a placky...if you can kick those straight you can kick anything straight !! lol sorry I digress ( bit of light relief )

even better.ask 50 random footy supporters !! Some interesting views by those with no vested interest in any partiicular outcome.

I suppose a great difference in all this ,in respect of Flower comparisons is that this skinngy gawky kid wanted to play for Melbourne. It was his passion to play for Melbourne and he did so magnificently and honourably. Scully wants to play footyand is dedicated to it. But i dont think theres any burgeoning loyalty ( as yet ) to anyone in that regard. He's been conscripted. By its very nature the path to football for the kids is a mercenary one so I dont necessarily hold that quality against Scully in thi smatter. I dont discount its value in all this either. I wouldnt have this meant as a slight but id think many would be indifferent to where they play. Some might carry the old thinking through but dont count on it. I think only once you become totally immersed into an environment might you take on its culture and history. I sense Tom hasnt to date for the very notion that hes been advised not to. Probably wisely in a way as he was always likely to be targeted especially given the AFL's predisposition to condone it. Flower epitomises another era ( unfortunately ) Scully could be the face of the new one

Rumour , hearsay. Thats the plausible deniability aspect of it. Its very clever. You cant honestly believe Velocity havent been 'chatting' to GWS.?? They will be talking with everyone. Its their business to do so. Gubby and Co will have been sounding out all the manangement teams to see who and what..and how much. Nothing gets put on paper til it has to be..or indeed sometimes.. when it can be officially be seen to have been. We arent talking chicken feed here. Its big big money. There is bound to be subtefuge and trickery. Were seeing somethng played out NOW in public thats been scripted and choreographed over a longer period. In theory GWS isnt even supposed to put anything on the table now.. but it has. . Yes its a big decision..., wont be his last. Not if hes half as good as he supposed to be. Youre entitled to your take on this but I dont for one second think this is only now being nutted out. Theres a public "image' of this..and theres the real one.
-
What ...youd expect them to run around like headless chooks ... . This is brinkmanship....a game of poker.
-
Its rather easier to ask , how hasnt he ? I mean..really..who is he ? Yes the club saya a lot publically..and youd beleive all of that ?? You can bet a very different line is taken behind closed doors. The club want this over with. its trumped the situation by placing an offer on the table.. It want this expedited and put to bed. Unfortunately it my be over trumped by the WildCard. Theres no reason now not to sign with the club. Many from boths sides of , what shal lwe describe al this as , "a view" can see that there's no logical impediment to signing now. he doesnt .. Thats mucking the club around. Yes , hes sticking to a "line" made last year but is that reasonable under the circumstances and conditions as theyve evolved ? Many dont think so.
